The founder of Pure Science Lab reportedly suffered from Crohn’s disease for 30 years before discovering the healing effects of CBD. He then put together a company dedicated to providing high-quality CBD products to the world.
This is a really wholesome backstory that humanizes the company and helps it form a closer, more relatable bond with its customers.
The founder of Pure Science Lab created the company after finding CBD was a plausible and effective alternative to western medicine for Crohn’s disease — a topic close to the heart of the founder, who suffered from the condition for years.
With that said, the company does little publicly to increase awareness about the condition and doesn’t appear to donate to any charities or causes. However, you can find a military discount for active military persons and veterans.
Pure Science Lab sources its hemp from The Netherlands and manufactures its products in the USA. The hemp is also third-party tested but unfortunately can be a little hit and miss with how much information is provided – some of the test results show the full hemp analysis, whilst others show only the cannabinoid profile.
Pure Science Lab offers a wide range of different product options, which include tinctures, oils, concentrates, capsules, topicals, and CBD products for pets. A lot of these products have been engineered to suit more experienced CBD users as opposed to beginners.
The price put on many of these products is slightly eye-watering to the point of off-putting.
Pure Science Lab won’t win any medals for being truly innovative in the CBD realm, but the company does make up for that with a robust lineup comprised of some very decent products (even if the price is very steep).
Pure Science Lab posts publicly accessible Certificates of Analysis (COA), which is always a good sign with any CBD company. The main gripe we have is some of the COAs do not include evidence of comprehensive testing and includes only the cannabinoid profile.
Pure Science Lab doesn’t offer a 1-800 number to make contact easier – the company also has a UK phone number if you live outside of the US.
The company isn’t particularly great at responding to queries – in fact, we have some questions about its CBD Pomegranate Tea and the customer service reps have been uncontactable, which strikes us as quite strange.

Pure Science Lab is a CBD company based out of Coconut Creek, Florida, founded by Steve Pomerantz in 2014. The company has since released a huge array of products ranging from tinctures, oils, and drops to capsules, skincare products, and pet treats.
Charity donations aren’t on Pure Science Lab’s list of priorities. The company does provide a 25% military discount for active military persons and veterans – this requires you to sign up and provide relevant documentation to be eligible.
Pure Science Lab does, however, provide customers with a fantastic education and resources area on its website, which will be explored later on in this review.
The company has yet to be granted the prestigious United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Certified Organic stamp of approval, which is something that’s looking to be rolled out to more CBD companies in the next year.
In the same interview linked above, Pomerantz states that Pure Science Lab ships its hemp from the Netherlands due to the country being known for its farming and cultivation of only the highest-quality crops of cannabis/hemp.
The products, however, are engineered and produced in the United States – he further emphasizes that “all of his products do NOT leave his lab until they have been 3rd party tested for quality assurance and safety”.

One of the most important aspects of any CBD company or brand’s image is a well-structured, easy to navigate website with clear images, links, and educational resources.
Pure Science Lab’s website is all of the above. The company’s CBD Education, CBD Resources, and CBD Laws By State pages are especially impressive, providing customers with some fantastic blog posts and interesting general information.
This is one of our main disappointments.
We tried querying an issue we had with the company’s CBD Pomegranate Tea and found it near impossible to reach the company – the most we’ve heard from the customer service representatives is the voicemail.
There’s no denying it, Pure Science Lab’s products are very expensive. Though the company boasts high quality, we can’t help but feel $499 for a 30 mL bottle of 5000 mg CBD oil is slightly on the extortionate side.
If you’re looking for a cheaper CBD product, look elsewhere.
We just want to preface this by saying that any CBD company with publicly visible and accessible COAs gets a thumbs up from us – Pure Science Lab included.
However, some of the COAs only show the cannabinoid profile and not the other tests for heavy metals, solvents, mycotoxins, and other impurities. Once this becomes apparent across all of its products, we can give the company a double thumbs up.
Pure Science Lab posts all of its publically-accessible, third-party Certificates of Analysis (COA) on its website. Some of the COAs have the full comprehensive testing results that show the cannabinoid profile, as well as the lack of mycotoxins, heavy metals, and solvents. However, some of the other COAs only provide the cannabinoid profile.
Though having publically-accessible third-party test results displayed openly on a CBD company website is always appreciated, we’d like to see full COAs for all products in the future.

After putting Pure Science Lab under the microscope, the products appear to be of high quality, albeit often very expensive, especially for its oils and capsules – there are cheaper options out there on the market if you’re looking for products that are more budget-friendly
Most of the products are geared more towards more experienced users. However, you can find a small number of products suited to complete beginners/inexperienced users.
We recommend this company and its high-quality products, but mainly to those who have used CBD in the past or can afford the very high prices.
