Elixinol has an extensive lineup of top-notch products with an almost “pharmaceutical” feel to them. Everything they sell has high purity and has been extensively tested by the company itself. These tests are clearly visible on their website.
We love the diversity of products produced by this company — covering everything from tinctures and capsules to topicals and protein powders.
Unfortunately, all the products this company offers are fairly basic — containing just carrier oils and CBD extract. We’d love to see some more specialty products from this company for things like pain, inflammation, and sleep support. The company doesn’t use any other ingredients in the vast majority of its products which leaves something to be desired.
Mission / Charity5/5
Elixinol donates 5% of every purchase to a non-profit that can be selected from their list of charitable organizations. They also allow customers to send a request for organizations not on their list of approved organizations.
This is much more than most companies in this space are doing — so we applaud Elixinol for taking the initiative.
Elixinol has proprietary farms in the United States and Europe. All of the company’s American hemp comes from Colorado — a state that’s well known for its quality hemp. The European division uses hemp from one of the company’s farms around Europe. Elixinol claims to have 100% organic and naturally processed hemp — but have not yet achieved USDA certifications to prove the organic status of its hemp. With that said, this company is well-known for offering some of the best hemp in the industry.
Elixinol carries a wide range of products such as wholesale CBD oil, CBD oil capsules, CBD oil tinctures, CBD oil liposomes, CBD oral applicators, CBD topical balms, hemp skincare products, hemp seeds and protein, and CBD dog treats. This covers most of the general staples in the industry except for vape oils and vape pens.
Elixinol uses a chemical-free CO2 “cold” extraction process that’s environmentally friendly and non-toxic. This type of process maintains the extraction temperature closest to the botanical material. It results in a pure high-quality CBD extract by reducing the thermal degradation of the hemp.
There’s a lot of room for innovation in the formulas behind their product lineup, as the company offers no specialty formulas to help direct the effects of the CBD for a particular symptom or condition. All of these products are fairly simple in nature, containing just CBD, and various carrier oils.
Elixinol conducts its own testing on all of their products and has a detailed batch system for tracking the individual tests from each product you buy. However, this company lacks the same depth in testing from independent labs — which is important for transparency and is a standard in the industry.
Elixinol has a specified “time of response” to customer service queries — and will respond promptly. An inquiry was made on a Sunday and response was received early the next day. Customer reviews tend to be positive on the quality of customer service at Elixinol on forums and other review websites as well.
Elixinol is the product of a collaboration between Paul Benhaim and other industry-leading experts in the medical cannabis field. The company and its founders have quite a reputation in the CBD oil industry.
Like many other companies in the CBD oil sector, Elixinol claims to be meticulous in its manufacturing process, offering high-quality CBD oil and hemp products.
As one of the largest manufacturers in the world, Elixinol ships to 40 countries around the world.
What’s Elixinol’s Mission?
The company lists its core values on the “philosophy” page of its website. Although many of these core values are vague, or generic, the companies focus seems to be in the right place.
Commitment to success
Superior product sourcing
Expert product development
Strong channel partners
World-class customer service
As part of the last value (#7), Elixinol donates approximately 5% of its profits to charity, which is above and beyond what most other CBD manufacturers are doing. There are no specific organizations the company donates to, as this changes throughout the year. Customers can even submit requests for organizations they would like to see the money go to.
Where Does Elixinol Source Its Hemp?
Elixinol is one of the few CBD suppliers that grows its own hemp. The company has farms in both the United States and Europe. All of its American products are made with Colorado-grown, non-GMO hemp while Elixinol’s European division sources its hemp from farmers around Europe. All of its extracts are rigorously quality tested for safety and consistency.
Elixinol’s Respira Hemp oil is claimed to be the newest and most advanced formula of CBD supplements. It’s a kosher vegetable glycerin (VG) based CBD dietary supplement.
Elixinol advertises this as a “multi-use” product that contains full-spectrum cannabinoids.
The Respira Hemp Oil is designed for oral consumption — a drop under the tongue, or as a food additive. The vegetable glycerine content of the tincture gives this product a sweet taste and allows the oil to be used in a vaporizer.
The Respira Hemp Oil contains 20 mg/mL of CBD and comes in natural and grape mint flavors.
The Hemp Oil Drops from Elixinol is another full-spectrum CBD product containing a range of cannabinoids and terpenes. The difference between this oil and the Respira oil is that this product is made from MCT oil as the carrier instead of the vegetable glycerine found in the Respira Hemp Oil. MCT oil has less of a sweet flavor, and can’t be vaped, but is thought to have better absorption in the gut.
Elixinol recommends taking this product either orally (swallowed), or sublingually (held under the tongue). The suggested serving size is ½ a dropper (0.5 mL) three times daily. This dose equates to a total of about 15 or 45 mg of CBD per day depending on which concentration you choose.
The 30 mL bottle contains 10 mg/mL of CBD and the 120 mL bottle at a higher concentration of 30 mg/mL of CBD.
They’re available in two flavors: Natural and Cinnamint.
C) Extrato Rico Em CBD Cannabidiol — 5000 mg (Only Available In Brazil)
Capsules are convenient and absorb quickly into the body. They’re made from the same hemp oil used in other Elixinol products. They’ve simply been encapsulated in a softgel coating to make them easier to consume.
Elixinol advertises that this mode of ingestion is “particularly effective” for those with inflammation of the digestive system. This is because the coating on the capsules slows the breakdown and release of the cannabinoids until further down the digestive tract — giving it a greater chance of the CBD coming in direct contact with tissue further down the digestive tract.
This product contains 15 mg CBD + 375 mg of hemp oil per capsule.
The company recommends that you take the capsules at approximately the same time every day for the best results.
Elixinol’s CBD Liposomes are targeted to increase the rate of absorption of CBD into your system. They consist of pre-dissolved cannabidiol added to microscopic liposomes (fat-encapsulated molecules) to improve the ability for CBD to pass through biological membranes in the digestive tract.
The company suggests a serving of 5 pumps administered under the tongue or dissolved in water. Each serving contains approximately 5 mg of bioavailable CBD.
Each spray bottle contains 10 mg/mL CBD.
Hemp oil liposomes are only available in a Citrus Twist flavor.
The X-Pen is an applicator that resembles an epi-pen. The X-Pen is designed to dispense a precise serving of CBD at the click of a button.
There is no suggested serving size on Elixinol’s product page, but each click of the applicator dispenses exactly 15 mg of CBD extract.
The convenient applicator makes this product perfect for people with muscle disabilities who may not be able to accurately measure out even doses of CBD concentrates. It’s also excellent for people who take their CBD on the move, such as long-distance runners or other athletes.
Each pen comes with a removable mouthpiece to make cleaning the device between uses much easier.
At 15 mg of CBD per click, each pen provides 66 clicks lasting approximately 3–4 weeks.
Elixinol offers an assortment of hemp-based skin care products. They’re all made from hemp seed oil, and most have no active CBD present in them. Two of these products have small amounts of CBD — CBD Hemp Balm, and CBD Lip Balm. There isn’t enough CBD in either of these for us to recommend them as CBD products.
All of the products, except for the lip balm, are certified organic and 100% vegan.
Elixinol offers dog treats with active CBD both for large and small breed canines.
Dogs have similar endocannabinoid systems to humans which means they can benefit from CBD in many of the same ways as us.
These dog treats are specifically formulated with the guidance of veterinarians and chefs.

7. Other Hemp/CBD Products
Elixinol extends its product line with wholefood hemp products. These products are for consumers seeking healthier alternatives and all-natural supplementation. They’re a throwback to the founder’s other company — 9Bar — which uses hemp seed as a source of fat and protein to make energy bars.
Hemp seed is an excellent source of nutrition, and one of the most popular vegetarian sources of protein.
It’s important to note that this product doesn’t contain any CBD.
A) Hemp Protein Powder — 16 oz ($19.99)
What’s great about the hemp protein powder is that it’s non-GMO, vegetarian and vegan-friendly. It acts as an alternative to the common whey protein and is a hemp-based product which contains all ten essential amino acids.
B) Hemp Seeds — 8 oz ($14.99)
You can add the hemp seed to any of your meals. They’re a good source of protein, omega 3’s and omega 6. A 30g serving of Elixinol’s Hemp Seeds contains 10 grams of plant-based protein and 11 grams of omegas.
What Does Elixinol Do Well?
1. A Focus on Quality Hemp
Elixinol enforces a strict no GMO policy from the hemp used in its products. The company sources its hemp from Europe, USA, and Australia. They test everything to confirm the absence of harmful chemicals or soil contaminants like heavy metals.
It’s very important to us that CBD companies perform this testing because it doesn’t take much for cannabis to become contaminated. It’s considered a bioaccumulator which means this plant has a tendency to absorb harmful compounds from the soil if the growing conditions aren’t strictly controlled.
2. Innovative Products
Elixinol uses Supercritical CO2 Extraction to extract its CBD and the natural flavorings for of its tinctures like Cinnamint. The company uses the same “Eco-Friendly Cold CO2 Extraction Process” to maintain quality.
They offer a few different types of CBD oils — vegetable glycerine based, MCT oil-based, and a high-potency version only available in Brazil.
3. High CBD Content in Elixinol Products
The extraction process used by Elixinol yields approximately 18% CBD.
This is quite high compared to other CBD manufacturers. Elixinol gets this concentration higher than usual by using supercritical CO2 extraction and specially bred industrial-grade hemp with high levels of CBD.
Where Could Elixinol Improve?
A point of criticism for Elixinol is that it doesn’t have any recommended uses for its products. Other companies have geared their products towards a specific niche whether it’s for pain management, weight loss or sleep support, to name a few.
Companies like Kats Naturals or Brothers Apothecary add other herbs and supplements to their formulas to tailor them for a specific health condition or symptom. Elixinol, on the other hand, doesn’t offer any such product. Everything they sell is fairly generic in this sense — so if you’re using these products for a specific health complaint, it’s best to speak with a health practitioner to add other herbs and nutrients to the supplement regimen to optimize your results even further.
The other issue we found with Elixinol is in some of the marketing “buzzwords” the company is using to sell its products. Words like “hybridized full-spectrum” and claims of having significantly “higher bioavailability” without any proof are just a few examples of terms Elixinol are using to sell more products. We’re skeptical about these claims and question the truth or relevance in some of them.
Safety & Third-Party Testing
Elixinol provides detailed test results for all of its CBD products.
The company claims to send ‘dummy’ products to third-party labs to test the stability of their testing practices and ability to find abnormalities. An additional benefit is that Elixinol can perform rapid recalls and identify any consumers in possession of a tainted product since they’re linked to batch numbers in the testing process.
That all sounds great. However, Elixinol’s test results only list Elixinol as the testing lab — no third party.
While the tests contain essential information like CBD purity, heavy metal, microbiological, and pesticide results, Elixinol doesn’t provide the name of the lab or any pertinent information on who is conducting these tests.
Based on the track record of Elixinol’s key players the tests should be legitimate. After all, Paul Benhaim has had proven success from his previous ventures and has made a name for himself in the hemp industry. However, we can only judge based on what we see, or in this case what we don’t.
Elixinol’s Shipping & Return Policy
Elixinol has both a US website and a European website. The North American website will ship products to the US and Brazil, while the European website serves the rest of the world, and will ship just about anywhere CBD products are legal.
Elixinol only accepts returns on products that have been damaged during shipping. You need to notify the company within three days of receiving the product to be eligible for a refund. The company will also not cover lost items in transit.
Final Verdict: At Times Misleading, But Overall An Excellent CBD Manufacturer
Overall Elixinol seems to be a company that can back up on its claims of high-quality products. Based on the information available, Elixinol demonstrates best practices in acquiring its hemp, extraction process, and testing procedures (although difficult to confirm).
The biggest potential red flag for Elixinol is that its self-proclamation of the integrity of its hemp plants, processes, and testing.
The lack of transparency makes it challenging to stand behind the company and its products wholeheartedly. It may be a marketing misstep, as the company appears credible, but it raises some suspicion.
Elixinol can be seen as a ‘sleeping giant’ of the CBD industry. The company has an extensive collection of CBD and hemp products that allows its consumers the freedom to choose which application works best for their lifestyle. Elixinol can deal with wholesale and bulk orders to emphasize the scale at which it operates.
The most endearing quality, although it can be misconstrued, is its pharmaceutical style approach in processing and testing its products.
The company uses innovative technology in its extraction process and seems to have tight quality control measures. However, information on third-party labs should be clearly stated and easily accessed to increase the consumer’s trust.
Elixinol is led by individuals who have excelled in the industry and continue to push the company towards further success.
