BioCBD+ Review

It’s exciting when a company claims that one or all of their products will be the most effective on the market, especially when, at first glance, they have the science to back it up. BioCBD+ makes a few bold claims, and we’re not convinced that the company actually has the evidence to back them up. In this review, we seek to uncover what BioCBD+ is all about, and we’ll tell you exactly why we can’t recommend this brand.

Mission / Charity 3/5

BioCBD+ is committed to providing affordable access to CBD. The company offers discounts to veterans and donates one product for every item the company sells. Additionally, BioCBD+ offers free educational resources so customers can stay informed about CBD.

Although these are all great points, they aren’t doing anything truly notable in terms of charity or mission.

Hemp source 4/5

BioCBD+ uses organically grown non-GMO European (Scandinavian) hemp. All of its products contain full-spectrum CBD. The products have been third-party tested but the tests are inconsistent.

Product Range 4/5

BioCBD+ provides water-soluble CBD capsules, topical pain relief cream, and vape oils. Each of these products is only available in one size/flavor but covers enough of a range of product-types to score above well in this category.

Innovation 4/5

BioCBD+ integrates an Ayurvedic inspiration to their formulation process — which is an ancient medical system focusing on wholistic plant-based medicines as the primary source of medicine. The company also uses innovative technologies like water-soluble CBD extracts for improved bioavailability of its CBD.

Safety 4/5

BioCBD+ provides third-party test results on their website. The company lists the purity levels of the product, residual solvents, microbial contaminants, and pesticide testing. The only test the company is missing across the board is heavy metal contamination.

Customer Service 3/5

BioCBD+ offers a 30-day money-back guarantee if you don’t like its products. The company ships internationally to more than 45 countries for a flat fee of $45.

Although customer service reps responded to our emails promptly, they completely ignored our questions about the bioavailability claims made on their website. We wanted to understand more about how this works and if they had any evidence to support it, for which we got no response even after a few follow-ups.

BioCBD+ Company Review

Article By
Editorial Staff , last updated on October 19, 2021

About the Company: BioCBD+

BioCBD+ claims that its products are the most scientifically advanced CBD extracts currently on the market. The company states that its products have been in development for over 30 years, and are made with the highest quality ingredients money can buy.

BioCBD+’s products are unique compared to many other options on the market because they’re water-soluble.

According to BioCBD+, its CBD extracts are 100% bioavailable. This is a bit of a red flag because 100% bioavailability is near impossible to achieve — but more on that later.

In addition to providing CBD extracts, the company has an active blog and other resources for curious customers to educate themselves on the world of CBD.

BioCBD+ has a couple of programs to help those in need gain access to CBD.

For every product sold, BioCBD+ donates another product to someone who would otherwise be unable to afford it. Veterans are also eligible for a lifetime discount of 25% on all BioCBD+ products.

The products also contain a blend of Ayurvedic herbs — herbs that have been used as traditional medicine in India for centuries. The idea is that they prevent disease, rather than healing you once you’re sick.

BioCBD+ has a fairly limited product range consisting of capsules, muscle and joint relief oil, and vape oils.

Where Does BioCBD+’s Hemp Come From?

All of BioCBD+’s products are made with organic hemp grown in Scandinavia. BioCBD+ provides regular third-party test results that demonstrate that the advertised CBD content matches what’s inside the bottles. Unfortunately, the test results posted online don’t have any information about the presence of heavy metals or other toxic chemicals.

What Does BioCBD+ Sell?

They have three main products in their lineup: capsules, muscles and joint oil, and vape oils. All of these products are made with water-soluble CBD and a blend of Ayurvedic herbs.

BioCBD+ offers a month’s subscription service that reduces the cost significantly if you commit to a monthly shipment.

Muscle & Joint Relief Oil

Costs $65 for 2 oz. of 64 mg of CBD. Formulated to penetrate deep into muscles and joints this topical treatment should help relieve pain. Apply by massaging into the problem area.

3. Vape Oils

I Am Peace Vape Oil

For just the vape cartridge you’ll spend $60. BioCBD+ states that you’ll get roughly 1-2mg of CBD per inhale and the cartridge will last 100-200 inhales.

The company advertises that the total mg of “Extra Strength” CBD is 200 mg. The cartridge also includes a 300 mg dose of BioCBD+’s personal blend of hemp oil, plant terpenes, and essential oils, with no unnatural fillers.

Safety & Third-Party Testing

When we actually looked at each individual test of the Total Body Care Capsules we saw a lot of inconsistencies.

The first two tests were provided by SC Labs, which were thorough. They tested for hazards and found no heavy metals and no fungus, found a variety of cannabinoids but only 4 terpenes.

The second test didn’t detect the presence of any terpenes.

There are hundreds of terpenes in hemp plants and BioCBD+ promises a “full-spectrum” and doesn’t deliver these results in its product.

Batches 3, 4, and 9 didn’t show the hazard results. That means that we don’t know whether there are dangerous heavy metals or insecticides in those batches.

Ideally, third-party test results include all of the following:

  • Cannabinoid content
  • Heavy metal results
  • Potency
  • CBD purity

What Does BioCBD+ Do Well?

1. Enhanced Bioavailability

BioCBD+ claims that all of their products are 100% bioavailable.

Bioavailability refers to how much of a compound — in this case, CBD — enters your bloodstream. The more CBD that enters your bloodstream, the stronger the effects.

The problem with CBD absorption is in its solubility. Compounds can either be water-soluble, or fat-soluble. The body has a different pathway for each.

CBD is a fat-soluble compound — which means it needs to be absorbed through the fat pathway in the gut.

This process for absorbing fats can be slow and inefficient compared to water-soluble compounds, for many reasons. The main reason is that there are simply a lot more stages involved before fat-soluble compounds can be available to the body.

In order to make CBD supplements more effective, companies have come up with all kinds of ingenious ways to make CBD more soluble in water.

BioCBD+ achieves this using something called nano-particles.

Nanoparticles are 100 times smaller than a human hair. They act like regular-sized particles but can get into all of the small spaces in our bodies that the big ones normally can’t reach.

This means that nanoparticles make the effects of whatever compound you’re consuming more effective.

With nanoparticles, the idea is that the CBD is small enough to “sneak through” the gut membranes along with water instead of fat-producing a higher bioavailability overall.

2. Inspired by Ayurveda

Developed about 3000 years ago in India, Ayurvedic medicine is one of the world’s oldest healing systems.

A lot of herbs associated with Ayurvedic medicine are included in BioCBD+’s products.

Some Examples Include:

  1. Curcumin — Curcumin is the ingredient in turmeric that gives it that yellow/orange color. It’s anti-inflammatory and has potent antioxidant properties.
  2. Eucalyptus — Eucalyptus is a large tree found growing throughout Australia. The leaves are rich in essential oils with well-known anti-bacterial, decongestant, and topical antiseptic properties.
  3. Ginger — Ginger is considered anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antioxidant. It’s popular in Ayurvedic medicine because it’s warming properties are thought to help carry the other plant medicines throughout the body more efficiently.
  4. White Willow Bark — This is the original source of the pharmaceutical painkiller, aspirin. It’s used to reduce headaches, lower back pain, and menstrual cramping.

3. Generous Donation and Discount Programs

BioCBD+ has a couple of programs that increase access to CBD for those in need. The company offers a lifetime discount of 25% to all veterans and donates 1 CBD product for every item sold. Many other companies are just trying to make boatloads of cash, so it’s good to see someone giving back to the community.

4. Active Blog With Relevant Information

If you’re looking to learn more about the world of CBD, BioCBD+ is a great resource. The company updates its blog with relevant content every few days and is committed to keeping its customers informed.

Where Could BioCBD+ Improve?

1.  Not Enough Evidence for 100% Bioavailability

The plus we mentioned before is also a negative — simply due to lack of evidence to support the claims.

A lot of BioCBD+’s marketing relies on the company’s claims that its products are 100% bioavailable. Even with “nanoparticles” we simply don’t believe 100% bioavailability is possible — and want to question the company on this.

We feel that BioCBD+ would have a very difficult time explaining — with hard evidence — how its products are 100% bioavailable.

2. Inconsistent Test Results

BioCBD+’s test results are all over the place. The first few we found had testing for all the major points — CBD purity, cannabinoid content, heavy metals, and solvents, etc. However, later test results fail to include the heavy metal tests, and others show a total lack of terpenes and other cannabinoids.

Learn more about the importance of independent lab testing.

3. Very Expensive

You’re paying a huge premium for BioCBD+’s products — which might make sense if the products are as effective as the company claims they are. However, it’s still hard to justify a cost per mg of CBD that’s at least 3x more expensive than most of the other products available on the market.

Customer Service

BioCBD+ promises a 100% refund if you don’t like its products after a 30-day trial.

Feel free to request your money back if you’re not completely satisfied within 30 days of your purchase date.

You also don’t need to provide an unused or even used product, just let them know before the 30 days and they’ll give you a refund.

However, this only applies to your first purchase.

Final Verdict: Expensive & Too Many Red Flags To Give BioCBD+ Our Support

BioCBD+ is pushing innovation in an industry where many other companies are trying to make a quick buck and get out.

Water-soluble CBD has a lot of potential — but we can’t stand behind BioCBD+’s claim of 100% bioavailability. Unless you’re injecting CBD directly into your bloodstream, some CBD will be destroyed.

It’s unfortunate that BioCBD+ makes these kinds of claims because the company seems to have a solid product. However, the fact that they’re making claims that are near impossible to back up, makes us hesitant to fully trust them.

BioCBD+’s products are generally more expensive than many of its competitors but the cost might be worth it if the company’s water-soluble CBD is significantly more effective.

The company has a few good causes which redeem them a little bit in our eyes. If you feel like making a difference with your purchase, BioCBD+ donates 1 product for every item sold.

We have to be savvy when it comes to our health, so even though it would be great to just believe BioCBD+ is the best CBD medication on the market, we’ve noticed too many red flags to stand fully behind them.

With the high cost per mg of CBD, suspicious claims of fully natural and bioavailable CBD, and inconsistent purity tests we’re giving this brand a “no thanks”.
