BioCBD+ Total Body Care

BioCBD+ strives to be on the cutting-edge of CBD innovation with the use of nanoparticles, water-soluble CBD and added nutritional components like magnesium and curcumin. BioCBD+ claims that its Total Body Care capsules are 100% bioavailable — which is currently not possible.

Price/Value 4/5

At $0.4 for every mg of CBD in the formula, this product feels expensive — and it is. However, when you consider the other ingredients in the formula — which add to the benefits as well as the overall cost — the price is a lot more justified.

With that said, this product is priced fairly, it’s not a particularily good deal, but isn’t low-value either.

CBD Potency 4/5

Every bottle contains 30 capsules with 10 mg of CBD each — for a total of 300 mg. BioCBD+ claims that their product is 5-10x more bioavailable making it equivalent to a 1500 mg bottle of standard CBD capsules. However, we’re skeptical about these claims. The actual bioavailability of this product compared to others remains unconfirmed.

Hemp Source 4/5

BioCBD+ sources its hemp from northern Europe where pollution levels are low and agricultural standards are high. However, the company fails to mention exactly where the hemp is being grown and under which conditions the plants are exposed, so it’s difficult to get an accurate idea about the quality of its hemp.

Purpose/ Use 4/5

Total Body Care capsules may help relieve inflammation, pain, headaches, and anxiety. Beyond CBD, the company includes curcumin and magnesium which may boost the anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of CBD to support joint recovery.

As you’ll find throughout the review, some of BioCBD+ claims for this product is misleading, so we can’t give full points in the value section.

Product Variations 4/5

BioCBD+ Total Body Care Capsules are only available in one size and potency — however, as a specialty product like this, it’s understandable to have fewer options to choose from.

With that said, the company recommends taking 2–5 pills a day — which means a bottle will probably last less than a month for most users. The company could benefit from adding a larger size bottle, or a higher-potency capsule option for people with higher CBD requirements.

Formula/Ingredients 5/5

All the ingredients in BioCBD’s Capsules are organic. The specialized formula, with curcumin and magnesium, provides additional health benefits. The formula is well thought out for supporting inflammation — especially around the muscles and joints.

BioCBD+ Total Body Care Review

Article By
Editorial Staff , last updated on November 16, 2021

BioCBD+ appears to be on the cutting edge of CBD technology. Through the use of nanotechnology, the company claims to offer a water-soluble CBD capsule with much higher bioavailability than other products on the market.

Apparently, the technology is a massive improvement, and BioCBD+ feels comfortable claiming that the capsules are 100% bioavailable (this is a very bold statement).

Can an orally consumed CBD product ever be 100% bioavailable? We’ll explore this question in detail, so you have a deeper understanding of BioCBD’s products and the validity of its claims.

If you’re looking for a daily supplement to improve your quality of life, this could be it. We’ll talk about the pros and cons of BioCBD+ Total Body Care to help you decide if this capsule is the right fit for you.

BioCBD+’s Total Body Care comes with 30 capsules for $99. The recommended use for BioCBD+’s capsules is one or two capsules per day which is a common recommendation for similar products.

BioCBD+ claims that the use of nanotechnology in its products makes them water-soluble and increases the bioavailability by 5–10x.  Essentially, this statement means that taking one of BioCBD+’s 10 mg capsules is equivalent to taking 50 mg of standard CBD oil capsules.

Although BioCBD+ makes a lot of bold claims, we’re hesitant to trust their CBD capsules.

Overview: Total Body Care

“Total Body Care” — that’s a pretty impressive claim… Let’s dig a little deeper.

BioCBD+ seems to have a pretty fantastic product on its hands.  The company claims that the water-soluble capsules increase the bioavailability to 100%. Can water-solubility be that effective?

Is It Possible To Make a Product 100% Bioavailable?

Honestly, this claim is a red flag for us because it’s practically impossible to make a product 100% bioavailable. To fully understand how bold this claim is, we’ll have to figure out how bioavailability works.

Different methods of ingesting a substance allow varying levels of absorption into the bloodstream.

Injecting a compound allows for the highest bioavailability because it bypasses the gut and liver — organs that destroy much of the CBD we swallow.

Essentially, consuming CBD orally significantly reduces its bioavailability. As soon as the capsule enters the body it’s attacked by digestive enzymes.

Capsules protect the ingredients until they reach the intestines where they can be absorbed.  However, the guarantee that all of the active compounds survive long enough to be wholly absorbed into the bloodstream is ridiculous and downright false.

Why Is This a Dangerous Claim?

People who believe this claim at face value — either because they need relief or are ignorant to the bioavailability of oral consumption — pay a high price for a product that most likely doesn’t follow through.

While we don’t believe the claim of 100% bioavailability, we admit that the information given on the BioCBD+ website regarding nanotechnology is thorough.

Nanotechnology is a relatively new practice in the CBD and pharmaceutical businesses. Scientists hope that nanotechnology will ultimately make treatments more affordable and effective.

Even though BioCBD+’s claims of 100% bioavailability are unlikely, the capsules seem to be effective. There are many reviews of people thanking BioCBD+’s formula and expressing an increase in their quality of living once they started taking it daily.

Nanoparticles & Water-Solubility

Normally, CBD is fat-soluble, meaning that it’s dissolved and stored in lipids like oil.  The human body is mostly made of water which means that standard oil-based CBD mediums aren’t ideal.

One solution to this problem lies with nanotechnology.

Using proprietary methods, BioCBD+ processes CBD and Ayurvedic herbs into nanoparticles. What this means is that the compounds are made significantly smaller than regular CBD.

At standard sizes, fat-soluble compounds need time to absorb into the body’s water-based tissue. The processed particles are small enough to easily pass through cell walls and into the bloodstream — thus lowering the absorption time.

Is BioCBD+ Full Spectrum?

For those of you new to CBD, it generally works best when combined with the other chemical compounds — called cannabinoids — found in the cannabis plant.

This phenomenon is known as the Entourage Effect and acts as a sort of benefit multiplier.

Cannabinoids have synergistic qualities that make them more useful when consumed together. A higher diversity of plant compounds in your CBD tends to create a more beneficial final product.

BioCBD+’s CBD is highly processed which makes it hard to believe that the capsules are truly full spectrum. Cannabinoids can be delicate compounds, and it’s a challenge to keep them present in a finished product.

The best way to double-check a company’s claims is to review its test results. BioCBD+ posts batch tests every few months and have tests available going back to May 10th, 2015.

This is a great way to gauge the consistency of a company’s product and confirm the cannabinoid content claims.

Looking at BioCBD+’s purity tests determined that the capsules don’t have a large range of cannabinoids present in their capsules. On average there are maybe two other cannabinoids aside from CBD and THC.

Keep in mind the cannabis plant has well over 60 of these compounds.

So the entourage effect is not as potent as it could be, and the capsules wouldn’t constitute “full-spectrum” by our standards. However, these tests confirm that the products don’t contain any dangerous materials.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
  • Capsules make dosing easy
  • Convenient for travel
  • Added ingredients to boost the efficacy
  • Lacks the entourage effects of other cannabinoids
  • Quite expensive
  • Makes an impossible claim about its bioavailability

Key Features and Benefits

1. Simple Dosing

Each capsule contains 10 mg of CBD, so you know the exact amount you’re taking each time. If you need to take larger doses, you simply take two or three capsules.

2. Convenient for Travel

Total Body Care comes in small bottles which can easily fit into any bag, so you can take the product with you anywhere you go.

3. Other Ingredients to boost the efficacy

BioCBD+’s Total Body Care contains curcumin and magnesium, in addition to the CBD, to enhance the effectiveness of the product.

About the Company: BioCBD+

BioCBD+ is a California-based CBD company with a focus on water-soluble CBD products blended with Ayurvedic herbal supplements. In addition to Total Body Care Capsules, the company also manufactures Muscle & Joints Relief Oil and CBD Vape.

The company claims to use nanotechnology to make capsules that are 100% bioavailable, but we doubt the validity of that claim.

Who Should Consider Using Total Body Care?

At one or two capsules per day, BioCBD’s Total Body Care can help anyone looking for a daily supplement to improve general wellness and quality of life. But people with severe discomfort or distress may need to take up to five capsules each day.

Considering the ingredients — CBD, curcumin, and magnesium — Total Body Care may be suitable for people with the following conditions:

  • Joint pain
  • Chronic pain
  • Inflammatory conditions
  • Anxiety
  • Headaches
  • Nausea

Price/Value

BioCBD+’s Total Body Care costs $99 for a bottle of 30 capsules, and each capsule contains 10 mg of CBD. So a bottle contains 300 mg of CBD. This leaves the cost at $0.4 per mg of CBD, which is on the expensive side of the scale.

CBD Potency

Each capsule contains 10 mg of BioCBD+. This is generally lower than many competing products but if BioCBD+’s claims are true, you may get more CBD per serving.

The technology is too new and unexplored to make any definitive statements on whether or not the lower BioCBD+ content is as effective at as other products with a higher dose of CBD per capsule.

Hemp Source

BioCBD+ sources its hemp from unknown locations in Europe. The company claims that all of its hemp is organically grown and processed. The CBD is extracted using supercritical CO2.

The test results show that the capsules are free from any potentially dangerous chemicals.

Purpose/Uses

BioCBD+ Total Body Care may be a good choice for those of you who need a powerful anti-inflammatory. With nano CBD and curcumin, the capsules are designed to combat inflammation quickly. For those of you with frequent headaches or anxiety, these capsules also include magnesium — which may be effective for managing both symptoms.

Formula/Ingredients

These capsules are formulated with other herbs and nutritional compounds designed to offer all-around anti-inflammatory effects for the body — particularly for the joints.

Let’s cover each ingredient in more detail:

1. 10 mg BioCBD+

BioCBD+ is what the company calls its CBD after it has been processed to become more water-soluble using nanotechnology.

2. Curcumin

Curcumin is the compound in turmeric responsible for its orange color. It’s also the primary antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound in the plant. Antioxidants protect your cells from the damage of free radicals — which may increase the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and more.

3. Magnesium

Magnesium serves as an electrolyte and is a factor in the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and melatonin. This mineral is essential for over 300 enzymatic processes in the human body. Magnesium may help with anxiety, reduce the risk of heart problems and diabetes, and potentially prevent or relieve headaches.

4. Brown Rice Starch

This serves as the bulking agent for the rest of the formula.

If you have dietary restrictions, don’t worry, these capsules are safe for just about everyone to consume.

BioCBD+ Shipping and Returns

The company has three shipping options for customers in the US:

  1. Free Shipping takes 3-5 days delivery time
  2. First Class Shipping costs $6.10, but there’s no mention of delivery time
  3. Priority Mail Express costs $15, and the delivery time is 2 days

For international customers, the shipping fee is $25. BioCBD+ has a 30-day 100% (less shipping fee) money-back guarantee.

Final Verdict: Great Formula, But A Bit Misleading

BioCBD+’s claims are impressive but strike us as misleading.

They claim that the ingredients in the Total Body Care Capsules are 100% bioavailable may lead consumers to believe that they’ll receive 100% of the benefits of those ingredients.

A 100% bioavailable oral capsule doesn’t exist. Digestive enzymes destroy some of the beneficial compounds before they are absorbed by the body, regardless of the delivery method.

Claiming that the CBD is full-spectrum is also misleading. The most recent test results show no other meaningful levels of other cannabinoids.

The addition of curcumin and magnesium is great, considering they’re both fantastic for general health. BioCBD+ has also made both of these ingredients into nanoparticles, making them more bioavailable.

There are reviews from customers with positive experiences using this supplement but we cannot say that these capsules can live up to everything they promise to be. We would like to see more information from BioCBD+ that supports its claims moving forward.

In conclusion, the claims from BioCBD+ seem dishonest. There are many other companies who provide tried and tested CBD products for less money.
