Ojai Energetics was founded in Ojai, California in 2014 by entrepreneur William Kleidon.
According to the company’s website, Kleidon established Ojai Energetics “after searching for a CBD rich hemp for personal need” but “couldn’t find one that was made without synthetic fillers, had third-party batch testing results, and used organic ingredients”.
According to this news article released in May of this year, Ojai partnered with SoCal Farms to create the first hemp farm located in Los Angeles County in an effort to “build relationships with the farmers who grow the ingredients we use in the state we live in, ensuring fair trade wages, and only supporting regenerative farming practices”.
Before this, due to slow-moving legislation to expand hemp farming in California, the company sourced its hemp from the company’s own genetics farm in Oregon. In order to move its operation to California, Ojai Energetics took it upon itself to initiate and sponsor bill SB1409 — which allows the cultivation of industrial hemp in the state of California. The bill ultimately passed and Ojai Energetics was the first supplier of genetics bred specifically for the LA county climate.

Before we even begin to evaluate Ojai’s CBD product repertoire, it’s worth outlining what’s involved in its water-soluble CBD technology.

Judging by the company’s FAQ page, the hemp flower for its hemp oil comes from Colorado; however, according to the news article posted this year, the company has opened up a hemp farm in Los Angeles County so that it doesn’t need to source the hemp from Oregon anymore.
It’s difficult to know exactly where the hemp is specifically coming from, or whether it’s being sourced from all three locations still.
This may seem trivial, but each state has different hemp growing rules and regulations – some states are more stringent and some are more relaxed, which can affect the quality of the hemp and its cultivation practices.
