Cost per mg CBD : $0.20 - $0.40
Extract Type : Full-spectrum

IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin®

The IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin® is a combination of full-spectrum CBD, peppermint oil, menthol, and Celadrin®. There are two variants available: one containing 100 mg of CBD and another containing 500 mg of CBD. Both come in a 60 mL container.

The 100 mg CBD variant has a low potency and is also expensive, at $0.40 per mg of CBD. The 500 mg cream is priced a lot better at $0.20 per mg of CBD even with a steeper outright cost.

Price/Value 4/5

At $0.20 per mg of CBD, the 500 mg container is significantly better value than the 100 mg container, which is expensive at $0.40 per mg of CBD. However, you should consider that the formula also contains peppermint oil, menthol, and Celadrin®, which raises the overall value.

CBD Potency 4/5

The 500 mg IrieCBD Pain Cream is a relatively strong CBD topical compared to other products we’ve seen in our research, with 8.33 mg of CBD per mL. This, combined with Celadrin® — as well as the other ingredients — should provide fast-acting and long-lasting relief from pain and inflammation. The 100 mg option, however, with only 1.65 mg of CBD per mL, may not be as effective.

Hemp Source 2/5

IrieCBD claims that it uses non-GMO and pesticide-free hemp that is grown organically and sustainably, although it doesn’t specify on the website exactly where it is sourced from. This is worrying, as the hemp source can affect the overall quality of the end product dramatically.

IrieCBD also claims that the CBD is CO2 extracted and that all products are tested by third-party labs, but there are no results available on the company website to prove it.

Purpose/Uses 4/5

IrieCBD scores pretty high on this metric because it has designed its topicals for very specific purposes. The company specifies that this product will provide natural relief for bumps, bruises, sore muscles, and aching joints – although these claims are not endorsed by the FDA.

However, the 500 mg variant seems appropriate to this use, especially considering the additional ingredients to full-spectrum CBD, such as Celadrin®, peppermint oil, and menthol — all of which have pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties.

Product Variations 3/5

The IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin® comes in two different strengths: 100 mg and 500 mg. Both come in a 60 mL container. Most companies carry only one or two topicals, so this is a fairly standard selection, but we’d prefer to see the low-potency 100 mg variant swapped for something with a higher CBD concentration.

Formula 3/5

IrieCBD claims that its formula has been specifically created to “promote joint health, flexibility, and provide fast relief for everything from aches to acute post-adventure pains”.

We would like to comment on the quality of the hemp extract used, but, as pointed out earlier, there are no third-party test results anywhere to be seen, nor is there an exact hemp source location provided, which we’ll come onto later in this review.

IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin® Review

Article By
Editorial Staff , last updated on November 16, 2021

The skincare and topicals market has exploded over the past couple of years.

According to Grand View Research, the global skin care and topicals market was valued at 234.1 million in 2018 and is “expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32.9% from 2019 to 2025”.

Somewhere in amongst these figures is IrieCBD’s CBD Oil Pain Cream with Celadrin®, which has been specially formulated to target surface layer skin issues, as well as muscle and joint pains and inflammation.

This in-depth review will help you decide if the Pain Cream with Celadrin® is the right product for you.

Overview: CBD Oil Pain Cream with Celadrin®

The IrieCBD CBD Oil Pain Cream with Celadrin® is a combination of full-spectrum CBD, peppermint oil, menthol, and Celadrin®, all of which – according to IrieCBD – provides “fast-acting natural relief for bumps, bruises, sore muscles, and aching joints”.

The IrieCBD Pain Cream formula includes Celadrin® — a proprietary blend made with esterified fatty acids shown to reduce the symptoms of pain and stiffness in arthritis patients [1].

In addition to Celadrin®, the IrieCBD Pain Cream also contains peppermint and menthol. These ingredients provide a soothing, cooling effect on the skin. The combination of menthol and Celadrin® has been shown to improve joint mobility and muscle endurance significantly [2].

The IrieCBD CBD Oil Pain Cream with Celadrin® can be purchased for $39.97 or $99.97, depending on which strength you choose.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
  • The formula includes Celadrin®, peppermint, and menthol
  • Full-spectrum
  • Comes in a large 60 mL container
  • No online third-party lab test results
  • 100 mg product is expensive per mg of CBD

Key Features and Benefits

1. Inclusion of Celadrin®, Peppermint, and Menthol

Benefit: Proven to reduce pain and stiffness in joints and muscles, as well as combat skin complaints.

CBD in itself needs more clinical studies to determine its efficacy for dealing with joint and muscle ailments, the three other main ingredients found in this product have shown promising signs for soothing and/or alleviated pains and inflammation.

2. Full-Spectrum CBD

Benefit: More effective than CBD isolates.

The IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin® is made with full-spectrum CBD extracts, enabling you to leverage all the benefits of cannabis. Full-spectrum products are arguably better than pure isolates because of the potential entourage effect.

3. Comes in a 60 mL Container

Benefit: Lasts longer and can be used more liberally.

There are many skin care and topical products on the market only available in smaller containers of 10, 15, 25, or 30 mL, which forces customers to pay more for bulk orders or to be more conservative with its application.

Fortunately, IrieCBD provides both the 100 and 500 mg options in a 60 mL container, meaning it’ll last longer and you can apply the cream more liberally if you so choose.

About the Company: IrieCBD

There’s something enigmatic about IrieCBD. It’s very difficult to pinpoint much information on its founders aside from the blurb found on the About Us page.

The company originated in San Diego in 2015 by “three innovative adventurers, environmentalists, health advocates, and grassroots nutritional revolutionaries…dedicated to finding natural solutions for health and wellness”.

In 2018, Freedom Leaf, a “clean” healthcare company based in Texas, signed a definitive agreement to acquire IrieCBD, which included the acquisition of all its assets, trademarks, equipment, formulas, and products.

Who Should Consider Using Pain Cream with Celadrin®?

Irie CBD claims this product “combines two of the most effective natural remedies for inflammation and soreness”: full-spectrum hemp extract and Celadrin®’s mixture of essential fatty acids.

Though we’re dubious of the claim that full-spectrum hemp extract will remedy inflammation and soreness without substantial evidence to back up the fact, Celadrin® (as mentioned previously) has shown signs of reducing pain and inflammation in muscles and joints.

Therefore, it might be worth purchasing this product if you’re looking for a product that targets joint and muscle inflammation/soreness, though it’s worth making sure you do your own research on the efficacy of these ingredients.

Price/Value

At $39.97 and $99.97 for the 100 and 500 mg options, respectively, these pain creams fall on the more expensive side, especially when you consider the 100 mg is $0.40 per mg of CBD – the 500 mg option is half of this per mg but has quite a steeper outright cost.

However, this isn’t to say the products aren’t of value – the inclusion of other ingredients alongside the full-spectrum CBD extract (Celadrin®, peppermint, and menthol) is something to consider here.

Furthermore, both strengths come in a 60 mL container, which is more than enough to last you a while.

We think the extra cost is worth it, especially with the container size and ingredients listed, but if you’re on a budget you can find something cheaper.

Price Breakdown of IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin®

Product Name Total Price Total CBD Content Price Per mg of CBD
IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin® — 100 mg $39.97 100 mg $0.40
IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin® — 500 mg $99.97 500 mg $0.20

CBD Potency

Neither strength option is particularly potent relative to other products on the market, especially the 100 mg variant that falls in the low potency range at 1.66 mg/mL.

The 500 mg option is a slightly stronger product at a low-medium potency of 8.33 mg/mL – this is a wiser purchasing choice and better value even with a steeper price point.

IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin® — 500 mg 500 mg 8.33 mg/mL Low-Medium

Hemp Source

According to its Soil to Oil: How We Make Our Full Spectrum-Products page, IrieCBD claims its non-GMO hemp is sustainably-sourced, grown pesticide-free, and “follows organic and biodynamic standards”, which protects natural ecosystems and the health of its farmers.

Though it’s amazing to see IrieCBD’s dedication to making a webpage for the sole purpose of informing customers of its production practices, it’s frustrating to see the company not disclose its hemp source location.

This, ultimately, isn’t one of the worst offenses due to the company’s detailed Soil to Oil page, yet it’s something that would provide extra transparency and credibility to the company.

However, the biggest problem we see with this product is the lack of publicly-accessible third-party test results or, rather, Certificates of Analysis (COA).

What COAs do is show customers what’s in the product and evidence how pure it is – this includes testing for impurities such as heavy metals, residual solvents, and mycotoxins, as well as showing the cannabinoid profile.

The fact that (at this point) no third-party testing is being displayed on the website is inexcusable. This needs to be fixed.

Purpose/Uses

As we’ve mentioned throughout this review, the combination of each individual ingredient used in the formula has the potential to alleviate inflammation and pain on the skin’s surface and below.

It’s definitely worth checking this product out if you’re an athlete or you’re in a labor-intensive occupation – though, again, make sure you do your own research into this before purchasing.

The company advises you to not use this product if you’re pregnant or nursing – you should “consult with a physician before use if you have a serious medical condition or use prescription medications”.

Topicals should also never be ingested orally.

Product Variations/Flavors

The IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin® comes in two variations: 100 mg or 500 mg of CBD. Both come in a 60 mL (2 oz) container.

A selection of two different CBD strengths is pretty standard in the industry, so IrieCBD falls in line with what is expected.

Formulation/Ingredients

This where the IrieCBD Pain Cream shines.

The inclusion of Celadrin®, peppermint, and menthol shows that the company has put thought and effort into its formulation potentially providing relief from pain related to muscles and joints, as well as certain short-term or chronic skin complaints.

If you’d like to find out more about Celadrin®, the company has compiled a comprehensive list of research papers, scientific presentations, and technical reports for your reference.

IrieCBD’s Shipping & Returns Policy

IrieCBD doesn’t offer a combined Shipping & Returns Policy – instead, it has a separate Shipping Policy and Refund Policy pages, both offering fairly detailed information for your reference.

The company uses USPS for all domestic orders within the United States and its territories, which includes Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and Alaska. Domestic shipping typically takes between 3-5 days but can be longer during busy seasons.

International shipping is also offered and will incur extra shipping costs depending on where you’re located. International shipping takes approximately 10-14 days, which, again, is dependent on where you’re located – please make sure you’re aware of your country’s import laws on CBD before purchasing to avoid customs seizures, penalties, or punishments.

All orders placed before 1pm Pacific Time will be processed and shipped the next working day.

According to the Refund Policy, Irie CBD takes customer satisfaction seriously and offers a 30-day money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied with its products.

Final Verdict: An Excellent Choice for Relief from Painful Joints and Muscles

Overall, IrieCBD Pain Cream with Celadrin® is a decent product, albeit slightly on the expensive side, especially for the 100 mg option.

However, taking into account the ingredients used in the formula, as well as the container size for both variants, it’s natural for this product to have a high price point – though we still recommend choosing the 500 mg option at $0.20 per mg of CBD for the best value for money.

The one thing that holds this product back is the fact that IrieCBD doesn’t have third-party test results posted for this product, even though the company openly states that the product has been fully tested for impurities – this needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

Because of this, we’re in two minds about this product. On one hand, the ingredients listed, the container size, and the pricing (for the 500 mg option specifically) are very good value.

On the other hand, we’re disappointed in the company’s lack of transparency when it comes to the inclusion of publicly-accessible third-party test results and its hemp source location.

Unfortunately, for now, we won’t regrettably won’t be recommending this product until the transparency issues have been resolved.
