Flav CBD Beverages

CBD beverages and drink mixes are not a common commodity of the CBD market. Flav presents two Drink Mixes in Horchata and Lemonade flavor. One package contains ten individually wrapped sachets containing 10 or 25 mg.

Without a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) or detailed ingredient list, there’s no confirming the efficacy or safety of Flav’s Drink Mixes. But for the adventurous CBD user who wants to try something new, Flav’s Drink Mixes pack good value for money.

Price/Value 4/5

Flav’s Drink Mixes are great value for money. Only $14.99 for the 100 mg bag equates to 10 drinks in total! That’s much better value than buying a bottle of CBD water. However, if you’re looking for a daily CBD supplement and potent dosing, you’re better off with capsules and oils.

CBD Potency 4/5

Each individually wrapped sachet contains 10 mg or 25 mg, depending on the concentration purchased. This is an appropriate potency range for drink mixes.

Hemp Source 1/5

Flav provides no information about the hemp source or a CoA. Upon request, Flav never responded with any documentation.

 Purpose/Uses 3/5

There’s no targeted purpose for using Flav Drink Mixes. This product is a novelty for CBD users to try something different from the norm.

Product Variations 3/5

There are only two flavors to choose from in Flav’s Drink Mixes range — Lemonade and Horchata. Lemonade is available in 2 concentrations (100 mg and 250 mg), while Horchata is only available in 100 mg.

Formula 1/5

Flav doesn’t give any information about the formula or ingredients used. However, Flav advises that the Horchata flavor is gluten-free.

Flav CBD Beverages Review

Flav CBD Drink Mixes are a flavorful way to add CBD to your day at home or on the go. Open up a package and enjoy either the lemonade or horchata flavor.

The invention of water-soluble CBD opened an entirely new way of consuming CBD — vitamin waters, powdered drink mixes, and effervescent tablets!

Flav offers CBD drink mixes in two different flavors — Horchata and Lemonade. Most CBD beverages come bottled. Flav has packaged its mixes into premeasured sachets for convenience. They take up less space in your pantry, and they’re great for on-the-go dosing — add the mix to your water bottle or glass of water.

This novel CBD product is something fun to try, especially if you’re looking for something different from candies, gummies, or edibles in general.

We’ll dive into what goes into these mixes from pricing, potency, hemp source, and have a look at Flav CBD as a manufacturer.

Overview: CBD Drink Mixes

Cannabinoids are fat-soluble, which is why it’s so easy to make CBD brownies or cookies. To make CBD water-soluble, it needs to undergo several chemical processes. CBD beverages are most often sold pre-bottled as CBD water, for example.

Flav’s drink mixes come packaged in 10 individual sachets, which can you can stir into a glass of water or shake into your water bottle.

There are two flavors available — Horchata and Lemonade. For those who don’t know, horchata is a Mexican blend of flowers and herbs that is often drunk as a tea. It’s sweet and floral, reminiscent of agua fresca.

Horchata is available in one concentration (100 mg), while Lemonade is available in both 10 mg and 250 mg bags. Each sachet contains 10 mg or 25 mg, respectively.

Unfortunately, Flav doesn’t tell you exactly what’s inside these sachets. The ingredients are a mystery.

Are there artificial sweeteners? Is it vegan? Have they come into contact with nuts?

We’d love to answer these questions, but Flav has kept it a secret.

All Flav says about the ingredients is that the horchata drink mix is made with rice flour and is gluten-free. Nothing is mentioned to that effect about the Lemonade drink mix.

Pros & Cons

  • Easy dosing
  • Price and value are great

  • No ingredient list
  • No CoA provided for CBD or hemp source
  • Only two flavors available

Key Features & Benefits

1. Good Value for Money

For context in terms of value, the average bottle of CBD water costs around $5, with some available in bulk, which can reduce the price to as little as $3.50 per bottle.

Flav charges $14.99 for ten 10 mg sachets and costs $24.99 for ten 25 mg sachets. This means you can make a CBD drink for as little as $1.50. These sachets are more economical than purchasing ready-made beverages.

2. A Gluten-Free Option

While Flav doesn’t give any other nutritional information about its CBD drink mixes, the horchata variety is advertised as gluten-free. At least those with a gluten intolerance know that they won’t have any allergic reactions to the horchata drink mix.

About The Company: Flav

Overall, it’s difficult to trust Flav as a company. The company lacks a Certificate of Analysis (CoA), any reference to a hemp source, and an ingredient list.

On top of this, Flav doesn’t give a company backstory or any information about who owns and operates it.

Flav has an enormous product range. As a first thought, this may appeal to customers who appreciate a wide variety at one marketplace. But often, this variety comes at the expense of quality control. It’s difficult for a cannabinoid processing facility to maintain consistency and quality over such a massive range of products.

Flav makes sensational claims about its processing techniques. It claims that only “100% organic, lab-tested cannabis” is used in its products. It also claims to use the “finest ingredients.”

We asked Flav for more information about its hemp, CBD, and ingredients. We never heard back from the customer service team, so this also reflects on the company’s customer service attitude.

Who Should Consider Using CBD Beverages/Drink Mixes?

CBD Drink mixes are a novelty products. We still don’t quite understand how CBD is absorbed by the body when it’s dissolved in water. Depending on how it is processed, it may be more bioavailable to the body. But no evidence supports this yet.

With that in mind, Flav’s drink mixes are for the adventurous CBD user looking to try something new. There are no guarantees in terms of its effectiveness, so it doesn’t come with a specific, targeted use.

In any case, herbalists often recommend liquid-based herb consumption for issues of the body that deal with water. For example, in the case of kidney, bladder, or urinary problems, it’s best to consume a liquid solution of herbs. This is also applicable to CBD, in which case treating cases of urinary or bladder inflammation would be best with a liquid form.

Finally, Flav’s drink mixes are of good value. Even for the slightly skeptical person, it might be worth trying for $14.99.

Price/Value

As we mentioned earlier, drink mixes aren’t a huge commodity on the CBD market. It makes it challenging to compare Flav’s products. However, compared to CBD shots or bottled CBD beverages, Flav’s product is a bargain.

However, these drink mixes aren’t the best value in comparison to daily CBD supplementation in the form of capsules or tinctures. If you’re taking CBD daily or using it to supplement treatment for a health condition, concentrates, capsules, and tinctures are your best bet.

CBD Potency

Flav’s CBD Drink Mixes are available in two CBD concentrations — 100 mg and 250 mg. This makes dosing easy for most kinds of CBD users. Overall, 25 mg is an average dose of CBD, although higher doses are required to treat more chronic conditions.

Hemp Source

The hemp source can be added to a long list of secrets that Flav keeps about its company.

There’s virtually no reference to a hemp source anywhere. We don’t know if it’s grown in the USA or outside the USA. We’re told that Flav’s products are made with “100% organic, lab-tested cannabis”, but there are no documents to prove it.

On top of this, Flav doesn’t provide a CoA for its CBD. Customers have no way of knowing the safety of Flav’s extraction or hemp, or if any potential toxins remain in the products.

Why do we see this as a shortcoming for Flav?

In an industry as rapidly growing and unregulated as CBD, customers want assurance about their products. The government currently doesn’t enforce mandatory testing, and it is therefore much easier to trust a company that takes it upon itself to be transparent about its practices.

In an unregulated industry, it’s easy for companies to lie about the information they provide. With nobody governing this or enforcing standards, customers have to trust the companies themselves. This is why it’s important for companies to outline a hemp source and provide a CoA for reference.

Purpose/Uses

CBD beverages fall into the same category as CBD edibles. When CBD is ingested into the stomach or gastrointestinal system, it has effects that can last for up to 6 hours.

Ingesting cannabinoids this way delivers cannabinoids directly to the stomach, gastrointestinal tract, liver, and kidneys.

Flav beverages can be used in the same manner as edibles. They should have the same remedial properties, such as anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antiemetic.

However, without knowing the ingredient list of Flav’s drink mixes, it’s hard to recommend this product for therapeutic use. For example, artificial sweeteners may be pro-inflammatory, which could cancel out any anti-inflammatory benefits of CBD.

Flav’s Drink Mixes are novelty CBD products for the CBD user who enjoys change and variety. It’s an excellent way to “mix it up” now and then (no pun intended). It seems the purpose of this product is to be delicious and different!

Formulation/Ingredients

It’s utterly bizarre that Flav uses therapeutic compounds such as CBD without providing a full ingredient list.

CBD is not typically used recreationally because it has no psychoactive effects — Most CBD users are using it therapeutically! And in a therapeutic context, labeling of all ingredients is vital.

We can’t make any comment about Flav’s formulation for the drink mixes as Flav doesn’t provide a formula. But we can say that this omission raises a lot of concerns about Flav’s safety and assurance protocols.

We asked Flav to provide us with a full ingredient list for its CBD Drink Mixes, but we never heard back from the customer service team.

Flav’s Shipping & Returns Policy

Only customers in the USA have access to Flav’s products.

No shipping is provided outside of the USA. There is a flat rate of $6.95 for shipping with free shipping on any order over $75.

Flav does not accept returns for opened products. The company only accepts returns for unopened products within seven days of receiving the product. This must be done through the customer service team. Judging by the fact that Flav’s customer service team hasn’t replied to our many requests, we anticipate some issues with product returns.

The Final Verdict: A Novelty For Bored CBD Users

Perhaps Flav has observed a gap in the market. The truth is that when CBD users find a product they like, they usually stick with it. But now and then, CBD users must get bored and look for something new. That probably describes where Flav was going with this product.

It’s tasty, contains CBD, and is a little different to your usual sublingual tincture or capsules. That’s not to say the product doesn’t have any therapeutic effect, but it’s probably not the best way to get a daily therapeutic dose of CBD. If anything, this product is just made to experiment with and have a little bit of fun.
