Flav Review

Flav has a lot on offer when it comes to its product range, diversity, and value. It might be tempting for customers to jump on board with Flav, but we have some reservations about the claims Flav makes.

The product line is said to be organic. However, Flav offers no Certificate of Analysis (CoA), organic certifications, or a comprehensive ingredient list for its products. On top of that, Flav’s customer service didn’t respond to any of our requests for more information.

While Flav has a lot to offer, there’s not much information to back up any of its sensational claims.

Mission/Charity 2/5

Flav doesn’t have a mission statement that stands out. According to the About page, Flav’s mission is to “to produce the industry’s purest and most potent broad-spectrum CBD oil.” Unfortunately, Flav doesn’t share any third-party lab tests to verify its hemp quality.

The brand is not associated with charitable organizations or offer discounts for veterans either.

Hemp Source 1/5

There is no reference to the hemp source on Flav’s website. The company claims its hemp is organically grown but doesn’t provide a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) or organic badges to back this up.

We speculate these claims are marketing techniques that somewhat deviate from the truth. We emailed Flav’s customer service team asking for more information about the hemp source and the CoA, but Flav never responded.

Product Range 5/5

It doesn’t matter what kind of CBD user you are. Flav has you covered. It has the most extensive product range we’ve seen from a single company. Within each product category, there are many different flavors and concentration variations.

Innovation 3/5

None of Flav’s products stick out as being particularly innovative. The only one that shows potential is the proprietary formula for the Time Release Capsules. However, the company doesn’t elaborate on that formula at all in the product description.

Safety 1/5

For all of the claims that Flav makes about its products, there’s no documentation to support it. Usually, companies that are quick to claim “organic” or “full-spectrum” provide CoAs or a certified organic badge to prove the claims. Flav goes to no such effort.

We’ve asked for more information from the customer service regarding its hemp source and processing, but they’ve never replied to our emails.

Customer Service 2/5

The Flav customer service team doesn’t offer any return policy on opened goods. The return is only given in the circumstance that someone changes their mind before they’ve opened the product and within seven days of receiving it.

The customer service team is virtually non-existent. You may find it difficult to get any responses via email regarding exchanges and returns.

Flav Company Review

About The Company: Flav

There isn’t much to learn about Flav’s backstory — where the company was founded or who even owns it. An elaborate internet search brought no results for any online marketing (such as YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter) or any information about Flav’s CEO.

Flav goes into great detail about its hemp extraction techniques, and Flav has a lot to say about American cannabis laws. At the very least, it’s evident Flav has done its homework concerning compliance.

Next to this, what more can we say about Flav?

The company has somewhat “dissolved” into the online American CBD marketplace without a company story or public CEO. At first glance, the website looks just like any other dropshipping e-commerce store — which is a shame, because apparently, the company takes care of the entire manufacturing process.

Where Does Flav Source Its Hemp?

The jury is out on this one. There are absolutely no pointers anywhere on the Flav website as to where its hemp is grown.

Flav does state that its products are manufactured with certified organic hemp, although there’s no CoA or certificates to back that up.

We emailed Flav asking for the hemp source or a CoA, but the customer service team never replied.

Products Offered By Flav

Okay, CBD enthusiasts — get ready for one of the most elaborate product ranges we’ve ever seen from a company. Flav does pretty much everything, and we’re going to break it down right here.

There are many flavor varieties on each product, but we won’t break those down here. We’ll break down each flavor variety when we individually review each product.

1. Edibles

A) Flav Gummies & Hard Candies

Flav offers your run-of-the-mill CBD gummies and candies. Packets come loaded with 10 CBD gummies or hard candies, and customers can choose from 100 mg or 250 mg packs.

In the 100 mg pack, each gummy or hard candy contains 10 mg CBD. In the 250 mg pack, each gummy or candy contains 25 mg CBD. Unfortunately, Flav doesn’t provide a detailed ingredient list, so we’re not sure what ingredients are used for sweetening, flavoring, or its base.

There are a plethora of flavors to choose from, including apple, cotton candy, cherry, blueberry, and raspberry.

The 100 mg packet costs $14.99, and the 250 mg packet costs $24.99

Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Pieces Total Cost CBD Potency (mg/piece) Cost per mg CBD
Flav Gummies/ Hard Candies — 100 mg 100 mg 10 $14.99 10 mg/piece $0.15
Flav Gummies/ Hard Candies — 250 mg 250 mg 10 $24.99 25 mg/piece $0.10

B) Flav Chocolate Bars

For chocoholics, Flav offers CBD chocolate bars. Flavors include blueberry, blackberry, espresso, lemon, raspberry, mint, sea salt, and more. Each chocolate bar contains 100 mg of CBD and is divided into ten breakable pieces, and each piece contains 10 mg CBD.

Flav Chocolate Bars 100 mg 10 $19.99 10 mg/piece $0.19

C) Flav Drink Mixes

Flav stocks CBD drink mixes in two different flavors: Horchata and Lemonade. While horchata is only available in a 100 mg packet, the lemonade flavor is available in 100 mg and 250 mg. Each pack contains ten individually wrapped packets that can be dissolved in water.

Flav CBD Horchata Drink Mix —100 mg 100 mg 10 $14.99 10 mg/dose $0.15

Flav CBD Lemonade Drink Mix — 250 mg 250 mg 10 $24.99 25 mg/dose $0.10

2. Vape Products

A) Flav Vape Cartridges

There is an entire range of flavors, which Flav claims are enhanced with terpenes (but provides no evidence for it). The terpenes infused into the mixture determines the effects of a cartridge — For example, Blueberry Calming or Banana Uplifting.

The flavor range is truly enormous, with 13 flavors in total, ranging from creamsicle to grapefruit. The price and value of Flav’s cartridges are virtually unmatchable.

Our biggest problem with this product is its misleading advertising. It’s said to contain 0.5 g or 1 g of “broad-spectrum CBD oil.” But it says that the net weight of the product is 0.5 or 1 g. It’s hard to believe these cartridges are a concentrated product — it would cost significantly more than $40.00 a piece.

Promoting the CBD cartridge as containing 0.5 g or 1 g is blatantly misleading customers to believe that the cartridge contains 500 mg or 1000 mg of concentrated CBD.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Flav Vape Cartridges
Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Cartridges Total Cost CBD Potency (mg/cartridge) Cost per mg CBD
Flav Vape Cartridge  — 500 mg Unknown 1 $29.99 Unknown N/A
Flav Vape Cartridge —  1000 mg Unknown 1 $39.99 Unknown N/A

B) Flav Mood Pens

Flav Mood Pens are disposable vaping pens designed to elicit a specific mood. In many ways, the mood pens are similar to the cartridges, except customers don’t need extra equipment. The product is ready to use out of the packet.

Again, the “mood” is determined by the terpene profile of each mood pen. The two “moods” available are calming and uplifting, but each mood has multiple flavors.

Similar to the vape pen cartridges, it’s difficult to ascertain if the “500 mg” on the packaging refers to the CBD content or the net weight of the vape juice. Flav fails to include an ingredients list, so we don’t know what’s in its vape juice.

We’ll break down the cost and potency of the pens assuming Flav is referring to 500 mg of CBD in these Mood Pens.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Flav Mood Pens
Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Pens Total Cost CBD Potency (mg/pen) Cost per mg CBD
Flav Mood Pens 500 mg 1 $34.99 500 mg/pen $0.07

C) Flav Pods & Refills

As the name suggests, these products are refills for the Flav vaping device, called the Flav Pod. The refills come in the same flavor range as Flav’s cartridge line.

The company doesn’t label how much liquid is in the pod. It only states the net weight (on the packaging, no even on the website), which is 500 mg.

Flav Pods 500 mg 1 $33.99 NA $0.07

3. Topicals

A) Flav CBD Roll-On

This topical CBD application comes in a convenient roll-on bottle for precision application. There are two sizes available: 10 mL and 60 mL.

However, both bottles contain 100mg CBD, meaning the larger container has a lower concentration. The 60 mL bottle costs almost double, too, so customers should be aware that you won’t be getting any more value for CBD in the larger package.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Flav Roll-On
Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Total Cost CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
Flav Roll On — 10 mL 100 mg 10 mL $29.99 10 mg/mL $0.30
Flav Roll On — 60 mL 100 mg 60 mL $49.99 1.67 mg/mL $0.50

B) Flav CBD Salve

Flav’s CBD Salve seems to be a regular CBD lotion, although the company doesn’t say what’s in the product.

Judging from the texture, it appears as though Flav has used beeswax or buttery-like substances (cacao butter or shea butter, for example). However, we can’t say for sure whether or not these ingredients are used.

There’s just one concentration available for the CBD Salve: 50 mg. It costs $29.99.

Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Total Cost CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
Flav CBD Salve 50 mg 44 mL $29.99 1.14 mg/mL $0.60

C) Flav CBD Sun Guard

CBD sunscreen is an unusual product as CBD has no sun protection factor, so it doesn’t serve the purpose of being a sunscreen.

CBD is better off being in an after-sun product than a sunscreen. CBD’s anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties make it appropriate for post-sun therapy, but don’t provide any protection from UV rays. Plus, the potency of this product is too low for any remedial effects.

There are two varieties available — 30 SPF and 50 SPF. They contain the exact same CBD concentration and are the same price.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Flav CBD Sun Guard
Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Total Cost CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
Flav CBD Sun Guard — 30 SPF 50 mg 60 mL $29.99 0.83 mg/mL $0.60
Flav CBD CBD Sun Guard — 50 SPF 50 mg 60 mL $29.99 0.83 mg/mL $0.60

D) Flav CBD Transdermal Patch

The transdermal patch is applied to the skin, through which the CBD is slowly released into the bloodstream via the skin. For its CBD potency, it’s extremely pricey.

It’s not always easy to come by a CBD transdermal patch, so we find it very cool that Flav manufactures one of these.

Transdermal patches are used therapeutically for the slow release of cannabinoids via the skin. There is also some evidence to suggest that cannabinoids are more bioavailable when absorbed transdermally. This method can, therefore, be employed by those using CBD medicinally.

Unfortunately, it only comes in one concentration, which isn’t particularly high. However, customers can double or triple up on doses if they need to.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Flav Transdermal Patch
Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Patches Total Cost Cost per mg CBD
Flav CBD Transdermal Patch 10 mg 1 patch $19.99 $2.00

E) Flav CBD Bath Bomb

Flav doesn’t provide an ingredient list for its products, but we hope this is made with water-soluble CBD — otherwise, it may be difficult for CBD to penetrate the skin.

In any case, Flav recommends this product for relaxation and unwinding.

Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Bombs Total Cost Cost per mg CBD
Flav CBD Bath Bomb 25 mg 1 bath bomb $11.99 $0.48

4. Supplements

A) Flav CBD Airless Metered Pen

The Flav Airless Metered Pen is a “pharmaceutical-grade” product designed for precise and exact dosage.

This pen is designed to dispense exact doses. The entire pen contains 250 mg CBD and eight total doses; each dose contains 31.25 mg CBD. This is on the higher end when it comes to CBD dosing, so it is mainly recommended for therapeutic use.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Flav Airless Metered Pen
Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Total Cost CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
Flav CBD Airless Metered Pen 250 mg 44 mL $39.99 5.68 mg/mL $0.16

B) Flav Time Released CBD Capsules

The Flav Time Released CBD Capsules are probably the most interesting of all Flav products. In the formula, Flav has included turmeric and adaptogenic herbs, sour jujube seed, schisandra fruit, and biota seed.

It’s not clear whether these capsules dissolve in the stomach or intestines, but Flav has advertised them as having the property of slow-release. Given the formula, these capsules are best used to deal with stress or anxiety.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Flav Time Released Capsules
Product Image Product Name Total CBD Total Capsules Total Cost CBD Potency (mg/capsule) Cost per mg CBD
Flav Time Released CBD Capsules 175 mg 7 $29.99 25 mg/capsule $0.17

Safety & Third-Party Testing

Flav claims that all products are made using certified organic hemp, but the company doesn’t provide any certifications for the claim. Flav also omits a Certificate of Analysis, although the company advertises that the products are made with lab-tested hemp and CBD extractions.

We emailed Flav’s customer service team requesting a CoA, hemp source, or product ingredient list, but the company never replied.

Overall, the company makes a lot of claims regarding quality and growing standards but provides absolutely no proof of the claims. We wonder if this is a marketing technique designed to attract customers rather than being entirely truthful.

What Does Flav Do Well?

Flav has nailed a product range for virtually every CBD user. However, it shines in certain areas more than others. The price and value of Flav’s vape products are hard to beat in the CBD market as a whole, providing Flav’s advertising is truthful.

The same can be said for Flav’s edibles range. It’s all-inclusive in terms of flavors for both gummies and hard candies. It’s also nice to see two concentration variations in all gummies and hard candy products (100 mg and 250 mg).

Finally, Flav goes to a lot of effort to describe how and why they are compliant with Federal US law. Not many companies go to such extremes to describe the law and how the sale of CBD products fits into that. Kudos to Flav.

Where Could Flav Improve?

If Flav went to the effort of proving all of the claims it makes in regards to quality and assurance, it would be one of the most viable companies in the CBD market. Unfortunately, Flav comes across as untrustworthy because none of its claims are backed up with certifications or third-party lab tests.

This is a big downfall of the company, which otherwise provides an enormous range of products to suit all kinds of people. It’s hard to trust a CBD company, especially in the current US CBD market, that doesn’t back up its claims with any evidence.

Flav’s range of topical products also exceeds the average market price and falls short on potency.

Flav’s Shipping & Returns Policy

Flav accepts returns for unopened products within seven days of receiving the product. Opened products are not accepted for returns.

Flav only delivers within the USA for a flat fee of $6.95. The company offers free shipping on all orders over $75.

Final Verdict: Talking The Talk, But Not Walking The Walk

Flav ticks all the boxes when it comes to a wide product range, price, and value. But without any of the correct documentation (CoA or organic certification), we can’t confirm if what the company says is true. That’s a good enough reason to have some doubts.

It shouldn’t be the responsibility of the customer to chase a CoA or to find out where the hemp is sourced. Companies like Flav should advertise these things and create rapport with customers.

On top of this — there are no ingredient lists! For customers to avoid any allergies, there should be a comprehensive ingredient list for each product. It’s not uncommon for certain artificial sweeteners to cause adverse reactions in certain individuals, but Flav doesn’t list the ingredients anywhere on the website.

If Flav updated the website to include these documents, its ratings could improve in our books. But without these things, it’s just another company making sensational claims.
