Although Canna-Pet’s longstanding position in the CBD market is impressive, with a wide selection of products primed and ready in its arsenal, we’re both concerned and war of the company’s grandiose claims versus the lack of any substantial third-party evidence.
Whilst we’re happy with the company’s wide arsenal of products, we’re reluctant about the company’s transparency, which could be misconstrued as deceptive.
Canna-Pet’s Advanced bottles start at $29.99 and contain 30 capsules. In total, each bottle will contain 120 mg, which breaks down to roughly $0.25 per mg of CBD. This is a slightly high price in the CBD market for both human and pet consumption.
Depending on the variety, Advanced Small and Large capsules will contain 120 – 510 mg of CBD, while Advanced MaxCBD capsules carry a much higher value of 906 mg of CBD, making them both very potent products.
Canna-pet sources industrial hemp from U.S. suppliers claiming it’s organic, non-GMO, and free of pesticides, impurities, and contaminants. However, there is no offical proof to back any of this up.
According to testimonials left by those who have introduced CBD supplements created by Canna-Pet into their lifestyle, its products have helped with anxiety, skin issues and, seizures.
These capsules are available in 3 different varieties, each available in two different bottle sizes.
The formula, on paper, is impressive. The whole-plant, broad-spectrum formula is said to contain a multitude of other cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenoids; however, there is no substantial third-party test documentation to prove this. Once Canna-Pet provides this, we can raise the score.
Cannabidiol (CBD) has skyrocketed into the market at such a pace that experts have predicted sales to reach $22 billion by 2020.
Right now, the hype has hit fever pitch, with research suggesting that CBD’s interaction with our endocannabinoid system (ECS) – a naturally occurring biological system within us that is made up of endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes – to help promote various physical, physiological, and psychological health benefits.
These potential benefits include, but are not limited to:
However, did you know that it’s not only humans who have an ECS? All animals roaming the big wide world have one too – whether it be an aardvark, a penguin, or a chimpanzee.
Canna-Pet — an American CBD company that has been involved in the pet CBD industry since 2013 — knows this and claims to have been the first company to start introducing CBD products for animals.
This review will specifically be highlighting the pros and cons of Canna-Pets Advanced capsules to help you figure out if you should purchase these for your pets.
Canna-Pet says that its products are “developed in a collaboration of scientists, medical researchers, and veterinarians” and is “the first and only complete hemp and terpene product designed for cats and dogs”.
Generally, CBD capsules are suitable for pets who are fussy with what they eat – some pets dislike the bitter, oftentimes earthy taste of CBD oils, which is why Canna-Pet has engineered these capsules to be swallowed and not offend the taste buds.
Regardless of whether you purchase small or large animal capsules, each capsule will contain 170 mg of CBD and is made for animals under 20 pounds and animals over 20 pounds, respectively — the Advanced MaxCBD contains a much larger 510 mg of CBD per capsule made for animals of any size.

Depending on which kind of capsule you purchase, you’re guaranteed a product with consistent dosing, so there’s no need to worry about the need for sizing out portions precisely. Just one capsule (or more if needed) and you’ll have the optimal amount.
Capsules are great for animals who refuse to eat CBD oils or liquids due to the strong tastes associated with them. The capsule can be easily swallowed without any liquid or oil touching the taste buds.
Canna-Pet’s products contain no intoxicating ingredients, so there’s no need to concern yourself with your pet getting high off of these capsules and acting strangely.
Canna-Pet was founded in 2013 and is currently known as a global innovator of hemp nutritional pet products.
Over the past six years, the company has created numerous veterinarian-approved hemp-derived biscuits, capsules, and liquids geared towards the health and well-being of your cat, dog, or horse.
Canna-Pet has teamed up with non-profit organizations such as Pet Conscious to combat lost animals in the United States, as well as offering a 50% discount to charitable organizations.
These Advanced Capsules put out by Canna-Pet are marketed towards cats and dogs, but can be used with any animal that finds benefit in consuming CBD. If unsure, Canna-Pet encourages anyone with questions about giving their pets these health supplements to contact them directly here.
The outright introductory cost of CannaPet’s Advanced Small capsules comes in at a reasonably priced $29.99, which contains 30 capsules each containing 4 mg of CBD. They also offer a 60-count bottle variation with 240 mg of CBD that costs $57.99.
With a reasonable amount of CBD in each bottle, this works out to $0.25 per mg of CBD and $0.24 per mg of CBD, respectively – this is a very decent price.
Regardless of which type or bottle size you choose, the price per mg will be less than a cent, something that you won’t find with other companies in the pet CBD supplement market.

Both the Advanced Small and Large have strengths of 4 and 8.5 mg of CBD respectively, which is particularly high, especially for the sizes of the animals they’re designed for.
The Advanced MaxCBD has a much higher potency at 30.2 mg per capsule and is designed for cats and dogs of any size who require a much larger dosage; though we believe the Advanced Small and Large potency is sufficient enough without needing to pay extra.

Canna-Pet claims that its hemp is organic, non-GMO, and is free of pesticides, impurities, and contaminants, but provides no official documentation to back these claims.
The company also claims its industrial hemp is sourced from licensed U.S. suppliers, but don’t state specifically where in the U.S. it comes from.
Canna-Pet is prohibited from discussing anything related to diseases or medical conditions relief that its products provide, and states that these are health supplements and not pharmaceuticals.
However, the wide range of products is suitable for small, medium, or large animals and can potentially help with mild, medium, or chronic symptoms.
Canna-Pet has created three different varieties for their Advanced Capsules.
Regular strength capsules come in two different varieties, with Advanced Small aimed at small animals under 20 pounds, while Advanced Large are for animals over 20 pounds.
Advanced MaxCBD capsules are available for those looking for an even stronger product, which isn’t catered to animal size per se, but are meant more for animals who require a product of higher concentration to potentially combat more severe conditions.
As mentioned before, we believe the Advanced CBDMax strength capsules are unnecessary based on the sufficiently high potency options with the Small and Large capsules, which are more than adequate for potentially aiding your pet’s symptoms.

The formula and ingredients information provided on Canna-Pet’s website is collected into one fairly generalized article – there are no specific ingredients or formulas attached to the product itself.
The most concerning aspect of Canna-Pet’s capsule range is that its claims are pretty unsubstantiated. The product testing information link provided isn’t an official document; instead, it’s a generic list of what has been tested with no concrete results supplied.
The company says that its products “employ proprietary processes to deliver as many of the CBDs, terpenes, and flavonoids as possible”, which is impressive, but there isn’t any other information regarding other ingredients contained in the product.
Pair this with less than transparent testing information and this product is something to be cautious of in terms of what’s actually in it.
Canna-Pet offers two shipping options: Standard First Class Mail and Priority Mail.
The company processes and ships all orders within one business day using US Postal Service; bulk orders over 15 items ship via US Ground and requires signature confirmation upon arrival.
Holiday orders (Thanksgiving and the Christmas period) are said to take longer – usually one or two days later than estimated.
It’s worth noting that Canna-Pet does not ship to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, or Singapore.
They also have a 30-day money-back guarantee on all returns.
Whilst these products are a very good value for money in terms of CBD content and the subsequent price per mg of CBD, we’re unfortunately sitting on the fence.
Despite being a decent product on the surface, we have reservations about the company’s transparency.
The third-party testing claims have no substantial evidence to back them up; instead, the company uses broad language and generalized information – the most blatant example of this is the testing information on the product web page which only clarifies what was tested for, as opposed to what’s actually in the product.
This is worrying because customers won’t know exactly what they’re giving their pets.
In light of this, we find it difficult to recommend this product. We would appreciate a more transparent product.
