Bluebird Botanicals Review
We consider Bluebird Botanicals a top-shelf CBD manufactuer. Bluebird Botanicals is one of the few companies to process its extractions in-house over purchasing CBD extracts in bulk to use in its products. Its rigorous testing, great product selection, and excellent customer service contribute to our high rating of Bluebird Botanicals.
Mission / Charity5/5
Bluebird Botanicals offers assistance programs for veterans, low-income individuals, and those with long-term disabilities. Bluebird also supports and donates to various non-profits like the American Cancer Society, Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, and Autism Research Institute.
Bluebird Botanicals sources its hemp crops within its home state, Colorado. The extracts are made in accordance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) and have regular third-party lab tests to ensure quality for each batch.
Bluebird Botanicals could receive a 5 in this category when it has a USDA organic hemp certification for its hemp source, but its hemp supply is one of the best in the business.
Bluebird Botanicals offers an excellent variety of product types. It even provides bulk CBD isolates up to 1 million milligrams. This suggests the company is responsible for producing its own hemp extracts (not common in this industry) and are even supplying other CBD manufacturers with its raw CBD isolate.
Bluebird Botanicals use ethanol/alcohol methods to manufacture products with great bio-availability. It also uses low-temperature and low-pressure CO2 methods for some products, with increased processing for CBD isolate and CBD vape products with a highly purified extract from 96–99.9%.
Additionally, this is one of the few companies offering CBD oils made using both activated (decarboxylated) CBD and raw CBDA. Bluebird Botanicals has a Signature series containing frankincense and black seed oil, which improve the flavor, bioavailability, and anti-inflammatory benefits of CBD.
Bluebird Botanicals provides regular blog posts with long, in-depth content to help its customers understand how CBD works, and how to get the most out of using the supplement.
You’ll also find a full catalog of CoAs that are easy to access and can be linked to each batch of product and is clearly marked on the label of each bottle.
Bluebird Botanicals has excellent customer service from our test. They were quick to respond and answered all of our questions in-depth, often providing links to long-form blog posts discussing the question topic further. All products have a 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
Bluebird Botanicals was founded by entrepreneur and cannabis advocate, Brandon Beatty in 2012.
Based in Boulder, Colorado, Bluebird Botanicals is located in one of the best states for the agricultural farming of hemp and cannabis culture in America.
Bluebird Botanicals is one of the few companies that processes its own CBD extracts for its products. The majority of companies in this space buy hemp extract in bulk, which is then used to make other products.
Performing the extraction process in-house allows Bluebird Botanicals to have more control over the quality of its products and offer unique formulas.
For example, Bluebird Botanicals has the Complete series which uses a combination of both activated CBD and CBDA — the precursor cannabinoid to CBD before its decarboxylated (heat-activated).
While there isn’t as much research conducted on CBDA, researches have found CBDA to contain many of the same therapeutic properties as CBD including anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and anti-anxiety.
Bluebird Botanicals also sells its extracts in bulk to other companies who then use it to create their own formulas.
Where Does Bluebird Botanicals Hemp Source Its Hemp?
Bluebird Botanicals uses organic hemp from its home state of Colorado, partnering with local farmers. This hemp isn’t USDA certified organic, but the third-lab testing does show these crops are of heavy metals and pesticide-free.
Because of its strong and fair relationships with farmers, Bluebird Botanicals is able to purchase high-quality crops while keeping the costs low, passing the savings onto the customer with competitive retail prices.
The Bluebird Botanicals Classic collection is made with full-spectrum hemp extract with over 80 different phytocannabinoids and terpenes in organic hemp seed carrier oil.
This only comes in one strength of 250 mg of CBD per fluid ounce, but it’s available in five bottle sizes.
B) Bluebird Botanicals Hemp Oil — Complete
The Hemp Oil Complete is a custom formulation of full-spectrum hemp extract and an added serving of terpenes in extra virgin olive oil. This blend contains 50% decarboxylated (heat-activated) CBD and 50% CBDA (the raw cannabinoid version of CBD).
This hemp oil is unique in that it contains a high CBDA content and the extract is made with steam distillation over the gold standard of CO2 extraction.
While this method is less precise than CO2 extraction, steam (water) distilled hemp oil is said to maintain at least 26 aromatic terpenes in the extraction. These terpenes have a significant role in the way cannabis interacts with the body in producing the entourage effect.
Complete is only available in one strength of 250 mg of CBD per fluid ounce, but it’s available in 5 bottle sizes.
C) Bluebird Botanicals Hemp Oil — Signature
The Signature oil is a blend of full-spectrum hemp extract, wildcrafted frankincense, cold-pressed black cumin seed oil, and organic virgin hemp seed oil.
Frankincense is harvested from the sap of Boswellia trees. While you might recognize frankincense as burning incense, the frankincense essential oil can be diluted in a carrier oil and taken internally for its anti-inflammatory properties.
Black cumin seeds have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that complement the benefits of hemp extract on the body.
Complete has 250 mg of hemp extract per fluid ounce and it’s available in 5 sizes.
