This shampoo is great for flaky or dry scalps, but the concentration of the CBD is too low on its own to offer any benefit.
With that said, we found it works for dry or irritated scalps and provides a pleasant tingling and cooling sensation on the scalp after use. If only Cibaderm didn’t market this product as CBD shampoo — because it’s really not. This also left us skeptical about the claims made on a lot of other Cibaderm products, as well as their parent company HempMeds.
Cibaderm Hemp Clean CBD Shampoo is available at $18.95, which is a relatively high cost for a shampoo. This price is justified somewhat by high-quality ingredients.
However, since this product is being marketed as a CBD-infused shampoo, we need to also rate the price based on the CBD content. To put it gently, this product has very low-value in terms of actual CBD content — charging nearly $2.00 per milligram inside the bottle.
A 16-oz (474 mL) bottle contains 10 mg of CBD. This is a very low potency and likely has little to offer the formula as a whole. The reason this product still does what’s advertised is likely due to the other herbal extracts and absence of irritating ingredients.
Cibaderm uses organic, non-GMO hemp plants from European farmers who are subject to the program of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Their crops are non-GMO and have been grown using only organic methods. Only a USDA or equivalent organic certification would have garnered this product a full score in this metric.
This product is designed specifically to repair dry, flaky scalps. The formula leverages the effects of additional herbal extracts and essential oils on top of the beneficial effects of CBD. Unfortunately, the low potency CBD and application as a shampoo instead of long-lasting leave-in conditioner makes the effects of this shampoo significantly less effective than it could have been.
This is a very niche product, and it’s not reasonable to expect there to be a whole bunch of different options for this product. However, it would have been nice to see a larger bottle size or at least one or two other scents.
The formula of Hemp Clean CBD Shampoo has been targeted at moisturizing, regenerating, and fortifying the scalp and hair. The main ingredients in the shampoo are herbal extracts and essential oils. This product worked for us, but should not be advertised as a CBD shampoo.
CBD is known for its nourishing, anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties for the skin. On top of that, it’s an effective moisturizer when combined with other herbs and carrier oils.
These features can be particularly useful for people with sensitive flaking scalps and damaged hair — a condition that’s all too common for a lot of people — especially in drier climates.
This shampoo by Cibaderm is specifically-designed for supporting the health of the scalp through the anti-inflammatory effects of CBD and other natural ingredients.
In this review, we’ll be exploring this product in more depth. We’ll discuss why we like this shampoo, and how it compares to others like it on the market.
Buyer’s Note: This shampoo can be difficult to find.
Cibaderm Hemp Clean CBD Shampoo is one of the five products sold by Cibaderm — a daughter brand of HempMeds.
The defining ingredient of this product is CBD, which already makes it stand out from the myriad of mediocre shampoos. We were excited when we ordered a bottle to try for ourselves — but were quickly disappointed.
We weren’t disappointed because the product was bad — in fact we quite liked it. No, we were disappointed because the entire bottle of “CBD Shampoo” contains… wait for it… just 10 mg of CBD.
This is the lowest potency we’ve ever seen in a topical CBD product — which is made even worse when you consider the fact that the contents only remain in contact with your skin for a few seconds before being rinsed down the drain forever.
CBD isn’t exactly “cheap”, it’s a highly concentrated extract from the hemp plant that requires large amounts of raw hemp to make. This is what we thought was justifying the high price when we ordered ourselves a bottle – turns out it’s not. We believe this company simply added a small amount of CBD to an existing formula and then designed new labels to use the CBD as a selling point — and we fell for it.
All of that aside, the shampoo itself is fine. In fact, we quite liked it. But we would hardly call this a CBD shampoo.

Parabens and sulfates are commonly used as preservatives in cosmetics to fight bacteria and keep these products fresh for a longer time.
However, parabens and sulfates may be dangerous for human health.
For example, parabens have been shown to induce the growth of breast cancer cells and other estrogen-dependent cancers.
Sulfates, on the other hand, can trigger strong adverse reactions in those with sulfate sensitivity — which is becoming more common year after year.
Cibaderm Hemp Fresh Body Wash is free of parabens and sulfates, which leaves the potential carcinogens out of your body and reduces the risk of skin irritation.
The peppermint essential oil is responsible for making the skin look brighter and younger while adding a refreshing scent to the shampoo. It also produces a pleasant tingling sensation on the scalp which helps bring blood flow to the hair follicles.
Lavender, in turn, is a strong anti-inflammatory and speeds up regeneration processes of dry and damaged skin cells.
Hemp is a natural bioaccumulator; in other words, it draws everything from the soil it’s cultivated in — including both the good and the bad stuff.
It’s important that the CBD in skincare products comes from organic hemp that wasn’t treated with chemical fertilizers or pesticides. We also need to make sure the products we’re using are completely free from contaminants like heavy metals which can end up making irritations of the scalp even worse.
Cibaderm gets their CBD from hemp grown by European farmers known for having some of the strictest quality-control procedures for their crops in the world.
Cibaderm Hemp Clean CBD Shampoo may work for people who want to incorporate natural solutions to their skin and hair care regimen. The abundance of natural ingredients like essential oils and various carrier oils makes this shampoo stand out — however, the CBD content inside the bottle is a bit of a joke.
We’d recommend this shampoo for people looking for a premium shampoo blend — but if your goal was to leverage the benefits of CBD for your scalp — forget about it.
With that said, we found this shampoo was effective for alleviating dry, irritated skin on the scalp after about a week of using it. This was most likely the result of the other herbal extracts contained in the formula.
When compared to some popular non-CBD shampoos on the market, Cibaderm Hemp Shampoo is expensive; a 16-oz bottle is sold at $18.95.
Although this shampoo comes formulated with plenty of excellent essential oils and natural ingredients, the CBD content in this product is virtually nonexistent. We’re not even sure you can even put CBD on the bottle at these doses.
While we did like the aroma and texture of the shampoo, we can’t recommend it as a CBD shampoo because it’s just simply too weak to be of any real notice. There’s only 10 mg of CBD in the entire bottle!

If you’re looking for a therapeutic shampoo with high levels of CBD, you’re going to end up disappointed. The 16oz bottle of Hemp Clean CBD Shampoo contains only 10 mg of CBD in the entire bottle. However, this is made up for by the other beneficial ingredients in the bottle.

As a daughter brand of HempMeds, Cibaderm gets its hemp from the same source as their mother company.
The hemp used in the Cibaderm line comes from European farmers who are known for high cultivation standards.
The plants are non-GMO and are grown without pesticides, herbicides, or chemical fertilizers that could have a negative effect on the quality of the end product. All Cibaderm cosmetics are then tested in HempMed’s partnering laboratory, where they check for potential contaminants in the sourcing material.
This may or may not matter with such low CBD content.
Cibaderm Hemp Clean CBD Shampoo is a natural hair care product containing full-spectrum CBD oil (in trace amounts), a mix of extracts from the leaves and roots of therapeutic herbs, and a number of other organic ingredients such as peppermint essential oil and lavender essential oil.
If only this product had added about 10 times the amount of CBD to the formula, this product would be pretty much perfect.
One thing that raised a red flag when we scanned through the ingredient list of this product was the added cocamidopropyl betaine — an antistatic conditioning agent known to trigger allergies and skin irritation.
The Environmental Working Group rates this compound 4/10 in terms of safety.
Although we really enjoyed using this shampoo, and some of our team members even went back for another bottle, there was almost no CBD in the formula at all. This was very deceiving on Cibaderms part — who lists in large letters CBD on the front of the bottle — which contains only 10 mg of CBD in total.
This works out to around 0.02 mg of CBD for every mL of soap — which remains in contact with the scalp for all of 1 minute before going down the drain.
We found this shampoo worked for dry and irritated scalps, but we don’t believe this had anything to do with the CBD itself.
There are no parabens, no artificial dyes or aromas in this shampoo — just herbal extracts, trace amounts of full-spectrum CBD, essential oils, and other botanical ingredients.
if you’re looking for a high-end shampoo, make sure to give this one a try. However, if you’re specifically looking for a CBD-infused shampoo, we recommend you keep looking.
