As one of the official sponsors for Bellator MMA, cbdMD offers a handful of CBD topicals specifically designed for muscle and joint pain, and to speed recovery times between workouts. The company offers three different potencies of their Freeze Pain Relief bottles, and two different application formats for each (squeeze bottle or roller). A lot of people are using these topicals for other symptoms as well like skin irritations and cramping.
These products come at an excellent price for a topical of this caliber. The company uses some of the best hemp in the United States to make its products, offers a range of potencies to fit different applications, and has an intelligent cooling formula designed specifically for joint and muscle pain and recovery. What more could you ask for?
This topical range comes in four distinct potencies — low (2.5 mg/mL), medium (6.25 mg/mL), high (12.5 mg/mL and 25 mg/mL). Although all potencies have their place, we really like the highest potency option. It’s strong enough to provide support for even the most severe muscle aches and joint pains.
The inclusion of other synergistic herbs like yerba mate extract or menthol may amplify these effects even further.
cbdMD’s hemp is sourced from Kentucky and Colorado — two states that are known for their high standards of agricultural products. The company states its hemp is organically grown, and we tend to believe them — however, without USDA or equivalent certifications to prove the organic status of their hemp, we can’t give them full marks in this category.
This product is specifically designed for managing pain in the joints, muscles, back, and skin — and has both the formula and potency to do it. This is a truly specialized product with a specific and well-defined purpose.
This product comes in four different potencies, and two bottle types to make the application as convenient as possible for all different uses. This is a lot more options than most CBD topicals have to offer. Full points in this category.
Freeze contains a high-potency of CBD, as well as a host of synergistic herbs specifically used for supporting pain and inflammation of the skin, muscles, ligaments, and joints. We’re very impressed with the formula cbdMD has come up with for this product overall but would have rathered they didn’t use some of the more harmful ingredients like parabens, dyes, or triethylamines.
cbdMD recently became one of the main sponsors for Bellator — one of the largest MMA organizations in the world.
It comes as no surprise that the company offers a handful of products designed specifically for supporting symptoms commonly experienced by professional and amateur MMA fighters alike.
Their lineup of topicals is a perfect fit for the job, and it’s something they’re continually testing on top-level Bellator MMA fighters.
In this review, we’ll explore cbdMD’s lineup of Freeze topicals designed to provide cooling relief for sports injuries, muscle tightness, pain, and a variety of other skin and muscle-related problems.
We’ll cover the cost of these products and how they compare to others in the same category of CBD products, as well as the potency, and the different forms these topicals are available in.
Let’s get straight into it.
This product is specifically designed for alleviating pain and inflammation around the joints, muscles, back, and surface layers of skin. Each bottle comes formulated with a variety of botanical extracts, cooling menthol, and high-grade CBD.
This product is suggested for the following symptoms:
Outside of these applications, the freeze formula is popular for skin irritations, menstrual cramping, and gout. This formula is robust, and will likely offer benefit for a lot of other forms of pain or inflammation as well.

Something we liked about this product is the packaging. cbdMD gives you the option to choose either a roll-on container or a squeeze bottle.
The roll-on container is perfect for applying CBD while on the move — which is exactly how a lot of long-distance runners, rock climbers, and basketball players are using it.
The squeeze bottle is better for at-home use, or for people using this product on larger areas of the body. It allows more volume to come out of the container at a time which you can then spread around over the surface of the skin.
Remember to spend some time rubbing this product in — the more you rub it in after applying, the easier it is for the contents to reach the deeper layers of skin and muscle.
cbdMD is an American brand that is proud to offer accessible products for anybody interested in using CBD — something we’ll discuss later on in the article.
Recently they signed a sponsorship agreement with Bellator MMA — which is one of the more exciting developments in the companies recent history. The agreement will allow the company to advertise at Bellator events and allows fighters access to their lineup of CBD oils, capsules, and topicals. We expect this company to be expanding its product lineup in the topical CBD space in the near future to better tailor the effects to common issues experienced by athletes like MMA fighters.
As a company, cbdMD has great integrity with their products. They test everything and work hard to keep the quality high, and the price low — something that shines through in the product we’re reviewing today.
One of the major advantages of cbdMD is its low prices. This company strives to keep the cost of CBD as low as possible so that more people can use it. CBD isn’t exactly known for being a cheap supplement, but cbdMD does a great job at keeping things reasonable for people of all budgets.

Take our word for it, these are some of the lowest prices you’re likely to find for topicals of this caliber.
However, the inclusion of some of the synthetic ingredients in this formula as listed above brings the value of this product down a little bit. We much prefer to use products on our skin that are less irritating than some of the ingredients listed above.
This product is available in four different potencies — Low (300 mg), medium (750 mg), high (1500 mg), and ultra-high (3000 mg).
One thing to note here is that the roller version of this product has 30 mL less volume than the squeeze, yet has the same amount of CBD — making it slightly more potent than the squeeze container.
We love that this company gives you the options to choose between such a large range of potencies. Sometimes you only need a lower dose of CBD and don’t necessarily want to pay the relatively high cost for an ultra-potent topical.
However, we always recommend using the higher potencies for topicals like this, so we’re glad to be given the option for higher potencies — which are expensive.
Their highest potency product, for example, comes at a cost of around $100 — which is a lot more than most people would expect to pay for a topical cream like this. But the cost is justified, and we highly recommend considering the higher potencies if using this topical for anything more than minor skin irritations or muscle soreness.
If we ever injured ourselves, we’d be going straight to the highest potency possible. They’re simply more effective, and the bottle tends to last much longer since you won’t need to use so much of it to find the relief you’re looking for.

cbdMD sources its hemp from organic farms in Kentucky and Colorado. These are regions in the US that are well known for their strict agricultural standards and result in a high-quality crop.
In order to score full points with us in this category, cbdMD will need to attain certified organic status. We’re well aware that the USDA certifications for hemp are years behind other crops, and have only been possible in the United States since late last year — but we hope to see cbdMD achieving official organic status in the near future.
Until then, cbdMD is still known for using some of the best hemp in the country. Even without the official acknowledgment of organic hemp, the farmers this company buys their hemp from are already using organic farming practices.
Aside from the CBD, this formula contains a series of other beneficial ingredients, as well as some excipients to control the consistency and shelf-life of this product.
cbdMD lives up to its status as one of the primary sponsors of Bellator MMA. A company with this type of sponsor needs to have a CBD product suitable for members of this sport — which is where the Freeze topicals come in.
Each bottle contains a series of botanical extracts designed to speed recovery times, reduce muscle and joint pain, and repair damaged skin.
We thought that having customizable packaging was such a thoughtful choice for cbdMD to include as well and makes this product incredibly customizable for whatever your intended use may be.
The only real downside to these topicals is some of the less than ideal ingredients in their formula — which includes parabens, dyes, and triethylamines — many of which can irritate the skin, or interact with hormones like estrogen.
This is a truly top-notch product, and one of our all-time favorite topicals. We love the cooling effect, and the variety of customizability this product delivers. We recommend going with the high potency options for the best results and best value for your money.
