Nordic Oil is one of the few European companies offering cosmetic CBD products. Its body butter with CBD and avocado oil is designed to moisturize, soothe, and protect the skin.
Although we like the formula, this product has the same key problem as all Nordic Cosmetics offerings: it contains too little CBD (2 mg/mL) to offer any significant benefits.
It’s more economical to buy a regular CBD balm or add CBD oil to a regular body butter or a similar topical product.

Nordic Cosmetics’ body butter costs £0.20 per mg of CBD. We’re pretty happy with this price as it’s just around the average for CBD topicals. Having said that, there are better, cheaper options available to European customers, even if they’re not as specialized as this product.

Like all Nordic Cosmetics offerings, this body butter has a low CBD potency of 2 mg/mL. This isn’t nearly enough to make use of CBD’s beneficial topical properties. For reference, we prefer topicals to have at least 5 mg per mL.

Nordic Oil claims that its non-GMO hemp is grown organically in Europe. Although Europe is arguably the best place to get hemp, this source can be improved. For starters, Nordic Oil can order third-party testing for pesticides, heavy metals, and other contaminants.
It’s also missing an organic hemp certification from the EU.

This body butter is designed to moisturize the skin in trouble areas and all over the body. It has all of the standard ingredients and a thick, oily consistency expected from this kind of topical product.
However, it contains too little CBD — the ingredient that’s supposed to set it apart from regular cosmetics.

Unlike other brands, Nordic Oil has separate websites with distinct product ranges for different European countries and the United States. Its products are sourced from either European and American hemp, depending on which country you’re shopping from.

Body butter is used to moisturize dry skin all over or on problematic areas, such as the elbows and knees. They’re made with oil and butter ingredients that provide the thick consistency ideal for long-lasting effects.
The addition of CBD helps to further reduce inflammation — a major contributor to dry, damaged skin — and provide other potential benefits. The only problem with this topical is its low CBD potency.

This topical has all of the ingredients we come to expect from body butter, such as shea butter, xanthan gum, avocado oil, vitamins, and other natural ingredients. This gives it the heavy consistency body butter is known for.
It’s also infused with 180 mg of CBD isolate, which is supposed to set this product apart from its regular counterparts. Unfortunately, this amount of CBD is far too small to add any significant benefits.

Final Verdict: Great As a Body Butter, Not As a CBD Product
If you’re after a CBD-infused body butter, we recommend looking elsewhere.
Adding CBD to body butter is a great idea. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant qualities can help soothe the skin and protect it from damage. And CBD aside, this product has an effective formula that’s great for protecting and moisturizing the skin.
The problem here is that the amount of CBD is too low. With only 2 mg/mL, you may as well buy a regular CBD balm with higher potency and use it as a whole-body moisturizer.
This body butter is just a regular topical with a tiny amount of CBD sprinkled in. It’s not worth your hard-earned cash.
