Have you ever considered adding CBD to sunscreen? That’s exactly what Nordic Oil does with its CBD & vitamin C day cream.
This product sounds great in theory because CBD’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties can help protect the skin from sun damage and offer other benefits.
Unfortunately, as is the case with many of Nordic Cosmetics’ products, this cream contains too little CBD to offer any real benefits. It makes more sense to look for a stronger product or just buy a separate CBD balm.

Nordic Cosmetics’ day cream costs £0.39 per mg of CBD, which is close to the average price for similar products. This price is not particularly cheap, but considering how many ingredients are needed to make an effective sunscreen, it’s to be expected.

This cream has a low CBD potency of 2 mg/mL. This isn’t sufficient to make use of CBD’s beneficial properties such as inflammation reduction. We prefer topical products to contain at least 5 mg per mL.

Nordic Oil’s hemp plants are non-GMO and grown organically in Europe. This is a solid hemp source, but it can be improved. We’d like Nordic Oil to order third-party lab tests for pesticides and other contaminants to verify the quality of its hemp.
It would also be nice if the company obtained an organic hemp certification from the EU.

For one, Nordic Oil should utilize third-party lab tests for pesticides, heavy metals, and other contaminants. These tests would go a long way towards verifying the quality of its hemp source. Ideally, Nordic should also try to obtain an organic hemp certification from the EU.

As the name suggests, this product is intended to be used as a day cream. Specifically, Nordic Oil says it’s meant to protect your skin from sun damage. To that end, it contains multiple ingredients known for their antioxidant and sun-protective properties, like vitamins C and E.
They work well with CBD, whose antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects can further protect your delicate skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays. The only problem is the low CBD potency.
Formulation/Ingredients
This day cream contains many standard ingredients such as emulsifiers and UV-filtering compounds. For example, it contains Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, a safe and effective UV blocker commonly used in European sunscreen products.
However, its key ingredients are CBD isolate and the vitamins C and E. These two vitamins are commonly added to sunscreen because of their research-backed antioxidant and photo-protectant properties. They pair well for sun protection with CBD’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.
All in all, we like this formula, but it needs to contain much more CBD.

Final Verdict: Effective Sunscreen, But Too Little CBD
If you’re interested in adding CBD to your sunscreen regimen, we recommend choosing a more potent product.
Cannabidiol is a great addition to sunscreen because its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties can help to further protect your skin from the sun and provide other, general skin benefits.
Besides, the other ingredients in this cream, such as vitamins C and E, are great for sun protection as well. The only problem is that Nordic Cosmetics’ day cream contains too little CBD: the recurring problem of most topical CBD products.
You’re better off applying CBD to your skin separately or finding a product with a higher potency (5 mg/mL or higher).
