Lord Jones was founded by Cindy Capobianco — a well-known figure in the fashion industry. She was an editor for Vogue, Marie Claire, and Allure. A lot of her experience in fashion shines through with her branding for Lord Jones, which places a strong emphasis on the “look and feel” of the branding. These products really feel luxurious, as though they were meant for royalty.
Lord Jones incorporates high-grade ingredients, fancy packaging, and a lot of exclusive and limited-time product options. The company has been featured in a number of publications and endorsed by celebrities such as Mandy Moore, Olivia Wilde, and Kristen Bell.
This is widely considered to be the cream of the crop when it comes to luxury CBD products. Of course, this means the cost of these items are higher than average — but then again, you wouldn’t buy lord Jones CBD if you wanted average CBD products.
You wouldn’t buy from Lord Jones because it’s cheap, you’d buy from it because it’s luxurious.
Mission / Charity4/5
Lord Jones doesn’t list any charitable donations but does offer a 20% discount to military personnel and teachers. The company aims to create a trusted, transparent brand for low-dose users like the company’s founder — Cindy Capobianco.
In terms of a mission statement, this is fairly average. We like that the company wants to improve transparency in the industry, but there is nothing special about its mission statement that sets them apart from the many other CBD brands on the market today.
Hemp Source2/5
Lord Jones acquires its hemp from select farmers in the United States and prefers to use a broad-spectrum extract over CBD isolates.
However, the company doesn’t list its third-party test results, nor do they specify where exactly their hemp comes from or how it’s grown and processed. This was a major oversight from a company that claims to bring transparency to the industry.
Product Range5/5
Lord Jones has a simple and concise product lineup covering all major areas of CBD products — tinctures, edibles, topicals, and capsules.
We like that this company has chosen to limit its product lineup, and instead focus on making each product very well. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into each offering this company manufactures. Everything we’ve tried from this company is top-notch, and we have nothing negative to say about the range of products this company makes. They have a little bit of everything.
Innovation4/5
This company offers some truly unique products — taking a strong stance in the newly-emerging CBD-infused treat category. These chews are where Lord Jones innovation truly shines — contrasting the generic, mass-produced gummies currently dominating the CBD marketplace.
Lord Jones also makes tinctures and creams — both of which are fairly standard.
Safety4/5
Lord Jones states its products are all lab-tested — but the company doesn’t list these tests publicly on their website. You have to ask their customer service team directly in order to find these tests.
Each product comes with detailed instructions about how to use it safely and effectively, and their social media channels provide a lot of useful insight and knowledge on the topic of CBD.
Customer Service4/5
The company doesn’t list a return policy on their website. When we reached out to the company to ask for their third-party lab tests and information on their return policy, customer service reps answered the same day and provided thorough details to all of our questions.
All Lord Jones products are final sale.
We’d like to see Lord Jones provide this information as a standard on their website — especially since they preach transparency so often across the site. Nevertheless, their customer service team is doing a great job and will be able to give you any information you may be looking for.
Lord Jones entered the CBD market as one of the most stylish and trendy brands in the industry. They’ve captivated media outlets and customers alike with their “High-CBD” formula and design-oriented packaging.
The company took its
roots in California in the early 2000s with its founder Cindy Capobianco.
Capobianco has a decorated past in the fashion world as an editor for Vogue, Marie Claire, and Allure so it’s no surprise the company has design and marketing at the forefront of its brand.
Lord Jones is the culmination of Capobianco’s own first-hand experience. She found that as an early CBD adopter, buying high-end CBD oils and edibles was nearly impossible. The overall quality of products in circulation at that time was shocking, to say the least.
Capobianco saw a need in the market with the lack of transparency and the feeling of apprehension buying from questionable dispensaries. With the help of her contemporaries, they established Lord Jones as a company that “distributes the finest CBD infused products” — which shows in the emphasis they place on the look and feel of their products.
Lord Jones products are packaged to appeal to affluent consumers. They give off a feeling of elegance and style. The boxes are designed with vibrant colors and their logo resembles a traditional coat of arms, usually associated with royalty — giving you a sense of luxury.
All Lord Jones products are gluten-free and its CBD tincture is vegan-friendly. The company boasts only 5 ingredients in its CBD tinctures and CBD-infused confectionery products (edibles).
At this time, the CBD extract the company uses contains no active THC in their formula — so their products won’t get you high.
This product is geared towards pain and overall health and wellness — although it’s really just your standard CBD tincture made with broad-spectrum CBD (CBD and other cannabinoids but no THC) and a carrier oil (grapeseed oil).
Lord Jones recommends taking one full dropper under the tongue and holding for 60 seconds. Each serving comes with 10 mg of CBD and 135 mg of omega-3 fatty acids. There are approximately 25 dropper-fulls in each bottle.
These CBD tinctures are vegan, gluten-free, alcohol-free, and sugar-free — however, it’s important to note that Lord Jones uses stevia as a sweetening agent for this product. Stevia is a natural calorie-free sweetener.
Lord Jones Broad-Spectrum Tinctures Come in Two Flavors:
The Royal oil from Lord Jones has a higher potency than its other oil option at roughly 33 mg per milliliter of oil. Each bottle is made using a blend of the company’s signature broad-spectrum hemp extract and grape seed oil.
There isn’t anything particularly special about this product in terms of its contents. The use of grapeseed oil is a nice touch though — giving the oil a naturally smooth flavor. The bottle is very attractive and looks great on the shelf at home, and makes for a great gift.
Although Lord Jones
hasn’t made direct claims for their body lotion to be used for pain relief,
it’s been documented to alleviate foot pain from wearing heels by celebrities walking the red carpet.
The company advertises
this product as “penetrating and readily absorbed” for quick relief. They give
you a soothing effect by formulating the lotion to give you a cooling sensation
upon contact.
The lotion contains 100 mg of CBD in a 50 mL (1.7 oz) bottle and is
priced at $60.00. Each pump from the bottle dispenses 1 mL of the lotion which
is approximately 2 mg of CBD.
The High CBD Body Oil has similar pain-relieving characteristics with a slightly different application. Each bottle has a massaging roller-ball for convenience and even application. This product is geared for skincare but can be used for massaging sore muscles and joints.
Each bottle is 30 mL containing 100 mg of CBD and is priced at $65.00. It’s a plant-based formula consisting of five different botanical oils including organic avocado, jojoba, and safflower oils.
The Body Oil has a warm fragrance of evergreen and light citrus notes of bergamot and orange.
If you aren’t convinced that Lord Jones is a luxurious brand yet, these artisanal confections will give you a run for your money.
Each edible is handmade in small batches from quality ingredients like single-origin chocolate from Ecuador and natural fruit flavors.
Edibles are nothing new to the CBD market. They provide an easy way to fill your CBD intake in a form that most people will have no problems eating like chocolates or gummies.
Each piece contains 20 mg of CBD for all of the confection variants. It seems there’s a relationship between price and flavor variants.
These gumdrops also come in Limited Edition flavors like Sigurberry and Blood Orange. As the name implies, these limited edition gummies are available for a limited time only and come at slightly higher prices than the rest of the lineup.
These Limited Edition
flavors are also in collaboration with Sigur Ros, a European band, and The
Standard Hotels in California which may be associated with the difference in
price.
Some of you may require a specific daily intake of CBD. This product is designed to administer a precise amount of CBD in each capsule to make things just a little bit easier for you.
An $80.00 container has a total of 750 mg of CBD split into 30 gel
capsules, each containing 25 mg.
Although these capsules are sugar-free, gluten-free, and alcohol-free, they aren’t vegan-friendly because the capsules contain gelatin as a primary ingredient.
The terminology on CBD
extracts can be quite confusing and it makes it difficult to understand which
one really is better for you.
Here’s a crash course on each CBD oil classification to help you understand exactly what this means.
1. Isolate — Pure CBD
Just like its name, CBD
isolate is 99.9% pure CBD. This means everything contained in the plant matter
is removed in the extraction process — except the CBD of course.
This includes any traces of THC, terpenes, waxes, oils, chlorophyll, and more.
You’re left with nothing but pure CBD.
2. Full Spectrum — CBD and Other Cannabinoids
Full-spectrum CBD is the opposite, it leaves all the other phytochemicals in the final extract. Full-spectrum CBD is packed with everything the raw hemp plant contains like the terpenes, cannabinoids, flavonoids, and fatty acids found in hemp.
Many experts agree that full-spectrum extracts provide a greater level of benefit for CBD products as they help create what’s known as the entourage effect which makes everything from absorption to metabolism more favorable for the CBD user.
3. Broad Spectrum — Designer CBD
Broad-spectrum CBD is the middle-ground between CBD isolate and full-spectrum CBD. It combines a variety of cannabinoids like a full-spectrum extract, but the ratios are determined by the manufacturer instead of the plant. This often means the extract contains no THC.
This gives broad-spectrum extracts all of the benefits of full-spectrum hemp products, like the entourage effect — without any of the downsides of THC (like producing psychoactive side-effects).
This makes broad-spectrum extracts favorable for people sensitive to THC, or who regularly take work-related drug testing due to the fact that individuals won’t be ingesting even trace amounts of THC.
Safety & Third-Party Testing
Lord Jones buys their hemp extract from another company — just like the vast majority of other CBD companies currently on the market.
This has obvious benefits — it allows Lord Jones to focus on the formula of their products and branding rather than the technical aspects of making CBD extracts and all the legal difficulties that go along with it. This is left up to the larger CBD companies instead that have large production facilities well-equipped to make top-notch CBD extracts.
The only problem is that this makes it difficult for companies like Lord Jones to control the quality of the products they use. They have to trust the manufacturer is doing everything they need to in order to keep quality high.
Lord Jones provides the third-party lab tests for each batch — as per the company they buy them from. However, you have to ask for this directly, they don’t list this information publicly on the company website.
We assessed a handful of recent test results and didn’t find any major issues with any of the results. It appears Lord Jones is using high-quality hemp extract to make its products.
Without a doubt, it’s clear that Lord Jones places a heavy emphasis on their design and image. The products are packaged to give you a feeling of elegance and luxury.
This makes all of these products excellent as a gift.
2. Celebrity Endorsement
Lord Jones has done well getting their product out to the market and into the public light. They’ve been featured on various media outlets like GQ, Vogue, and LA Times among others.
They’ve built their reputation enough for celebrities to openly endorse their products. It’s become a bit of a trend among people living in Beverly Hills.
This boosts their credibility and gives you confidence in knowing that their products have been tested and are being used by real people. You can also find many of their products in Sephoras across the country.
Where Could Lord Jones Improve?
1. More Transparency On Products
For a company that was founded on being a transparent company you can trust, it’s interesting to see them fall short on a few key areas.
They don’t give any
indication of where their hemp comes from or if it’s organic. The company
states that it’s from “select” hemp cultivators from the U.S. but that doesn’t
provide enough clarity on the quality.
Although Lord Jones
products are being tested for potency and purity, the tests are being done by
the company themselves — not by a
third-party lab. This doesn’t take away much credibility of their products
but it does raise some questions.
Lastly, Lord Jones doesn’t have any return policies listed on their website. We had to contact them via email to get a better understanding of how the return process works.
Even at that, their response was quite vague. They state they “can accommodate” returns or exchanges on all of their products with the exception of the confectionery product range, but they weren’t clear on exclusions and limitations.
2. Expensive Product Line
The products offered by Lord Jones are priced on the higher end of the spectrum. The company is clearly after a boutique market and priced its products accordingly.
Of course, these products are marked up a bit, but the high-quality, and the delicious flavor definitely justify some of this markup.
You wouldn’t buy from this brand because it’s cheap, you’d buy from it because it’s expensive.
Lord Jones Shipping & Returns
Unfortunately, Lord Jones doesn’t have a great return policy. All sales are considered final — unless there’s an obvious manufacturer error.
Shipping is also a struggle for people living outside the United States because the company only ships locally.
There are a few ways around this, however. We recommend using a company called Shipito if you want Lord Jones but live outside the USA. This company will give you an American address to have your products sent to. From here the company will forward your package to your real address.
This is a simple way to get around the shipping limitations of CBD companies. However, there will be a fee for this, which isn’t unreasonable, but you’ll get better value if you make larger orders using this system at a time.
Final Verdict: Lord Jones Products Are Well Put Together — and Expensive
Overall, we would recommend this brand — but only if you have some cash to spare.
Lord Jones, as a company, has clearly shown that their products work and presented it in such a way that you can’t help but be a part of the trend. This is a premium product designed for connoisseurs and to be used as a respectable gift.
That being said, if we were looking at the products objectively, they don’t provide any added benefit that would justify the cost of their products. You can find equivalent products in terms of dose, size, and quality for a fraction of the price — but it wouldn’t be Lord Jones.
