Formula Swiss CBD Skin Cream

Formula Swiss exemplifies sustainability, excellence, and competence. Formula Swiss manufactures top-shelf CBD extracts and uses it in its topical CBD products. The CBD Skin Cream is made with 100 mg of CBD and a plethora of ingredients conducive to skin health and combating signs of aging.

Formula Swiss’ CBD Skin Cream is expensive and lacking in potency. On the flip side, it’s a top-shelf product in terms of quality, and the company supports sustainable farming practices and top-notch quality assurance. For many customers, this might be worth the extra pennies!

Price/Value 4/5

At the cost of €0.35 per mg of CBD, we consider Formula Swiss’ CBD Skin Cream to be an average-priced topical. The average price of CBD topical treatments is €0.25 – €0.40 per mg of CBD, putting Formula Swiss’ CBD Skin Cream in the higher end of average for this category.

CBD Potency 3/5

The CBD Potency for Formula Swiss’ Skin Cream is very low. This may be useful for minor skin irritations, but for painful skin conditions, we typically prefer a minimum of 8 mg/mL.

Hemp Source 4/5

Though Formula Swiss does not specify its exact hemp source, it specifies that its partners for ingredient supply are in Norway, Switzerland, and other EU nations. The company also offers CoAs on all of its batches of CBD extract.

Purpose/Uses 4/5

The formula is perfect as a skin cream, especially for those with dried or atrophied skin and for those with minor skin irritations. However, Formula Swiss’ claim to use this product for pain relief may be a little bit ambitious.

Product Variations 5/5

Formula Swiss’ CBD Skin Cream is the only CBD Skin Cream. However, the company offers eight other topical products with different formulations for different purposes.

Formulation/Ingredients 5/5

Formula Swiss’ formula for this product is balanced and effective. Even the surfactants and preservatives used are of an organic origin. Ingredients support skin health and appearance and may be beneficial in treating minor skin problems such as itching or dryness.

Formula Swiss CBD Skin Cream Review

Alongside its range of top-shelf CBD oils, Formula Swiss also manufactures a range of topical CBD products. The CBD Skin Cream is among them, explicitly formulated for the toning and maintaining healthy skin.

Formula Swiss takes a lot of pride in its formulations, quality and control measures, and sustainability practices. But like a lot of other companies, it does some things better than others. While we don’t doubt the quality of the CBD used in the CBD Skin Cream, we have some doubts concerning efficacy because of the low CBD concentration.

Formula Swiss’ CBD Skin Cream otherwise has a good, natural recipe with high-quality CBD. In this review, we break down the value, efficacy, and purpose of the Formula Swiss CBD Skin Cream.

Overview: CBD Skin Cream

Formula Swiss suggests using the CBD Skin Cream for skin concerns such as acne and scar tissue. The CBD concentration of the product isn’t high, at only 3.33 mg/mL, but this may be sufficient to treat minor skin irritations.

Otherwise, the CBD Skin Cream contains a concoction of ingredients that support moisturization and the look of healthy skin.

Formula Swiss’ CBD Skin Cream is relatively expensive compared to its marketplace counterparts. At €34.95 for a 30 mL jar with only 100 mg of CBD, we consider this to be an expensive topical treatment.

Formula Swiss emphasizes quality and sustainability. This is why we don’t doubt the quality of the product.

The company provides third-party testing on all products and delivers in sustainable packaging. For the discerning customer, the high price tag might not be a bad trade-off for the assurance that Formula Swiss provides.

Formula Swiss’ extracts are full-spectrum, making them ideal for topical application. Cannabinoids work together with terpenoids and flavonoids to create the entourage effect, and in the context of herbal medicine, whole-plant extracts are preferred over refined extracts.

Overall, this product is a better cosmetic topical than it is a strictly therapeutic treatment. That’s not to say it can’t have some therapeutic effects for the skin, but it may only successfully treat minor skin irritations. The ingredients in Formula Swiss’ CBD Skin Cream promotes healthy, lustrous, and supple skin, and is best applied for dry or irritating skin conditions.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons

  • Natural and nourishing formula
  • Sensational analyses scores (CoA)

  • Low CBD concentration

Key Features & Benefits

1. A Formula For Skin Health

Formula Swiss’ CBD Skin Cream contains ingredients to invigorate dry, irritated, or aging skin.

With CBD oil, shea butter, coconut oil, and aloe vera, the CBD Skin Cream nourishes and calms. Orange and lemon essential oils invigorate and brighten the skin, reducing the appearance of dark spots and scarring.

2. Full-spectrum CBD Extract

Formula Swiss uses a full-spectrum CBD extract in its CBD Skin Cream. Because the company is based in Europe, CBD extracts are subject to a THC maximum of 0.2%. The presence of a full-spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenoids, and flavonoids, ensures a more holistic product that is more likely to be effective over an isolated CBD topical treatment.

3. Exceptional Quality & Assurance

Formula Swiss provides Certificates of Analysis for all of its extracts and batches. The CBD Skin Cream is tested for residual solvents, herbicides, pesticides, heavy metals, and other contaminants.

The company performs exceptionally well on all tests done in-house and in third-party laboratories. Even if Formula Swiss’ products are somewhat expensive, customers are confident in the quality and purity of its products.

About The Company: Formula Swiss

Formula Swiss is a family-owned company based in Zug, Switzerland. The company prides itself on excellence, quality, knowledge, and competence. The team at Formula Swiss are industry experts that collaborate to produce an effective and sustainable product.

Formula Swiss’ excellence is exemplified in its Certificates of Analyses. The company passes tests for heavy metals, pesticides, and residual solvents. This is in line with the company’s manifesto for quality. Formula Swiss provides in-house and third-party testing on all of its extracts and batches.

Aside from producing great CBD products, Formula Swiss is also deeply involved in European cannabis politics.

As a member of both the European Industrial Hemp Association and the Swiss Medical Cannabis Association, Formula Swiss fights for cannabis policy reform and better regulation of CBD products in the EU. On top of this, Formula Swiss’ packaging is approved by the Forest Stewardship Council, emphasizing sustainability.

Formula Swiss’ website is loaded with informational resources for consumers. There is a blog, informational guides, and an entire database of scientific research on CBD and its applications.

It should be clear by now that Formula Swiss means business. In the growing CBD industry, simply selling CBD products won’t cut it. Formula Swiss sets a benchmark with its knowledge of cannabis and CBD extraction and its willingness to share this information with the public. The company is a resource as much as it is a CBD manufacturer.

Who Should Consider Using CBD Skin Cream?

Formula Swiss advises using this cream on “affected skin.” Judging by the formula, the cream may help with dry, irritating skin conditions. Overall, it may have a rejuvenating effect to quench dry and atrophic skin. This is most useful for aging skin, although anyone trying to achieve healthier-looking skin might consider using Formula Swiss’ CBD Skin Cream.

The product contains 100 mg of CBD in a 30 mL jar. Formula Swiss recommends applying 1 mL to the affected skin, but up to 5 mL if the objective is to reduce pain. In this way, the cream is versatile, depending on how much a person uses.

Price/Value

There’s no way to sugarcoat Formula Swiss’s price tag: it’s expensive.

We consider anything above €0.40 per mg of CBD to be an expensive topical. For €0.35 per mg of CBD, there’s no shortage of products in this price range that provides better value for customers. With that said, customers pedantic about quality may be willing to pay the extra price tag for all of what Formula Swiss supports (sustainability, organic farming, etc.).

CBD Potency

Formula Swiss’ 30 mL jar of CBD Skin Cream contains a total of 100 mg of CBD, giving it a potency of 3.33 mg/mL.

This is a low potency cream that may be beneficial for cosmetic reasons, such as dry skin. However, Formula Swiss’s claim that it can be used for painful skin conditions is probably unwarranted, as the concentration is too low for that.

For a therapeutic effect, we typically recommend a potency of at least 8 mg/mL, more than double what is offered in this cream. Overall, the CBD Skin Cream is not recommended for painful skin conditions but just for minor skin irritations.

Hemp Source

Formula Swiss does not specify its exact hemp source. However, it does specify that it partners with ingredient suppliers from Switzerland, Norway, and other countries on the European continent.

According to the company, it doesn’t partner with anybody that doesn’t practice sustainability and with an endeavor for excellence.

Until recently, when more countries began legalizing industrial hemp cultivation, most of the world’s hemp was grown in Romania and other Eastern European countries. We can, therefore, assume the possibility that some of Formula Swiss’ hemp is grown in these countries.

Even without knowing the exact hemp source, Formula Swiss’ standards on farming practices are clear through the company’s analysis scores. The company provides testing from in-house facilities, as well as from four different third-party laboratories. Consumers can view Certificates of Analysis on all batches across all products and can make judgments for themselves.

Purpose/Uses

Formula Swiss’ product is a skin enhancer and nourisher.

Though the company advises that it can be used for burns, rashes, sunburn, acne, scar tissue, etc, Formula Swiss recommends using a larger amount for painful skin conditions. Still, a more potent CBD cream would be more suitable for painful skin conditions.

This product could effectively be used to manage minor skin complaints such as dryness, irritation, or itchiness. Thanks to its moisturizing ingredients, it can also probably be used to ease the sting of sunburn and encourage the skin to heal.

The formula for the CBD Skin Cream contains many ingredients that combat signs of aging: lactic acid, benzoic acid, and topherols. These organic, antioxidant-rich compounds replenish aged or dry skin. On top of this, they promote collagen production. In this way, the cream might be used to combat aging or other similar complaints.

Formulation/Ingredients

The ingredients used in Formula Swiss’ CBD Cream are:

  • CBD oil (100 mg)
  • Coconut oil
  • Sunflower oil
  • Shea butter
  • Aloe vera
  • Armenian plum oil
  • Essential oils of lemon and orange
  • Water
  • Phenoxyethanol (preservative)
  • Cetearyl alcohol
  • Coco-glucoside (surfactant)
  • Xanthan gum
  • Citric acid
  • Tocopherol (vitamin E actions)
  • Lactic acid
  • Benzoic acid
  • Dehydroacetic acid (preservative)
  • Stearic acid (thickener)

Formula Swiss’ formulation for this product contains nourishing and nutritive properties for skin such as aloe vera, coconut oil, shea butter, lactic acid, and of course — CBD. Armenian plum kernel oil is used to combat the signs of aging and to moisturize the skin.

Tocopherol and lactic acid also help to combat aging signs. Tocopherol is an organic compound that shares many actions with vitamin E. They have antioxidant properties.

Finally, Formula Swiss has included the essential oils of orange and lemon, both of which are, according to aromatherapy practices, used to invigorate and energize and may reduce the appearance of dark spots on the skin.

The company has also chosen organic preservatives that have a very good safety profile. Even the surfactant chosen has its origins in coconut fat. Overall, it is a well-balanced formula with a lot to offer.

Formula Swiss’ Shipping & Returns Policy

Formula Swiss ships all over the world, including the US and Australia. However, consumers should be aware of the laws in their own countries as Formula Swiss takes no responsibility for parcels seized at customs.

The shipping cost is calculated at checkout, although there seems to be a flat fee of €9.50. A single jar of CBD Skin Cream ships to the US, Australia, and Italy all at the price of €9.50. For that reason, we think there might be a flat shipping fee. UPS Express Shipping Service is used.

Customers can only send returns on goods that are unopened, unused, and undamaged. They must be sent back to Formula Swiss within 14 days of receiving the item. If the return is approved, Formula Swiss may issue a refund or an exchange.

For goods that arrive damaged, Formula Swiss should be notified straight away with photographic evidence. It can then be sent back to Formula Swiss for inspection. If the return is approved, Formula Swiss will send a new product.

Final Verdict: Needs Improvement in Price and Potency

We would have liked to see the CBD Skin Cream with more CBD!

At its price, it isn’t the best deal for consumers. On top of that, its application is mainly cosmetic rather than therapeutic.

All things considered, it is a lot of money to pay for cosmetic cream, though some people may get some benefit from it. We have no complaints about the quality or formulation of the product, but Formula Swiss could have done better with price and potency.
