Foria says it uses broad-spectrum CBD extract in its formulations. Broad-spectrum is the next best thing to full-spectrum extracts because it includes all the phytochemicals present in cannabis except for THC.
With phytochemicals intact, you can benefit from the effects of synergy — a concept where multiple active compounds work stronger together than they do on their own. With cannabis, this phenomenon is referred to as the entourage effect.
The Certificate of Analysis for this product shows us there’s only one cannabinoid in this extract, CBD — along with three terpenes (eucalyptol, alpha-humulene, and beta-caryophyllene).
This barely registers as a broad-spectrum extract — this is what we would call a controlled-spectrum extract. This is typically made by taking a CBD isolate and adding several terpenes into the blend to give it more synergistic effects. This is still a high-quality extract, we just think the terminology perpetuates the chaos in an already unregulated industry.
