Flav CBD Airless Metered Pen

This product is no longer sold by Flav CBD.

Flav’s CBD Airless Metered Pen offers consumers precision dosing of exactly 31.25 mg of CBD. The pen contains a total of 250 mg of CBD and delivers a total of 8 doses.

At $39.99, Flav’s product is an expensive CBD oil in a fancy delivery system. For what it is, the Airless Metered Pen is overpriced and lacking in versatility — if you don’t need an exact dose of 31.25 mg, there’s probably no need to buy the CBD Airless Metered Pen.

Price/Value 4/5

At $0.16 per mg of CBD, this is an expensive CBD supplement. The higher cost is to account for the addition of a precision delivery system. For a lot of people, this is totally unnecessary, but if you find you’re having trouble measuring accurate doses of CBD for yourself, the added cost is worth every penny.

CBD Potency 4/5

This metered-dose pen contains eight doses of 31.25 mg. This is a relatively high dose of CBD for the average CBD consumer. This product is intended for people with higher-than-average CBD requirements so this dose is well-suited for the product.

Hemp Source 1/5

Flav never mentions a hemp source, nor did the company reply to any of our emails requesting the hemp source.

We wish we could give Flav a higher score in this department, but without any confirmation about the quality of the hemp this company uses, we can’t be sure the company is doing all they can to keep harmful contaminants out of their products. We also can’t be sure the CBD content is what they say it is.

Purpose/Uses 4/5

This pen is designed to make using CBD as easy as possible by giving precise mechanical doses of CBD oil with every pump. This is useful for everybody but offers the most benefit towards people with motor disorders who experience excessive handshaking as part of their disorder.

Product Variations 4/5

This is a specialty product, so it’s not unreasonable that the company only offers one option here. However, Flav would get full points here if they offered similar pens with different doses, or optional flavors for the oil contained inside each metered dose pen.

Formulation/Ingredients 2/5

This product is listed as just being ‘hemp oil’. There’s no mention of what carrier oil was used, or what kind of extract Flav uses to make these products.

This product was made for precision dosing of cannabinoids rather than for its unique formula.

Flav CBD Airless Metered Pen Review

Article By

Flav advertises the CBD Airless Metered Pen as “one of the few medical/pharmaceutical-grade CBD metered pens on the market.” But Flav doesn’t go to any great length to explain what makes it pharmaceutical-grade.

An airless metered pen dispenses exact volumes of creams, oils, lotions, or gels. Flav’s Airless Metered Pen delivers CBD oil but to an accurate measurement every time.

The Airless Metered Pen has some obvious pharmaceutical benefits. Every dose delivers exactly 31.25 mg of CBD. This consistency is especially beneficial for those who require reliable doses every time.

The Airless Metered Pen contains a total of 250 mg CBD, although Flav writes on the packaging, “250 mg appx.” This is unusual, considering that Flav indicates this as a “highly reliable” dose. If 250 mg is an approximation, then each 31.25 mg dose is probably not as reliable as Flav suggests.

When GW Pharmaceuticals was formulating Epidolex, a pharmaceutical cannabis-based medicine for the treatment of epilepsy, they suggested the first-ever “standardized” dose of CBD. GW Pharma indicated this dosage as 20 mg/kg/day. This is the only real pharmaceutical indication that has been given for CBD up until now and hasn’t been contested too much by modern science.

However, the company also says effective doses can be administered at as little as 5 mg/kg/day. Even GW Pharmaceuticals uses a range by which CBD is effective rather than exact the dosage.

The Airless Metered pen is expensive, retailing for $39.99 per pen. It may be more economical to use an unmetered product (where a person has to measure their dosage), as slight variations in dose may not have such a dramatic side-effect anyway.

Overview: CBD Airless Metered Pen

The Airless Metered Pen is designed by Flav for exact and consistent dosage every time. The pen contains a total of 250 mg of CBD, delivering eight doses of 31.25 mg. Flav says that the pen contains “premium organic hemp cannabidiol” — which reads more like a list of Google keywords than anything else.

Flav doesn’t provide any documentation to support that the CBD is premium or organic. There is are Certificates of Analysis or organic certifications regarding its hemp source to substantiate these claims.

Unless you have a specific reason for using a metered-dose pen to take your CBD oil, we feel the price is hard to justify for this product when you can just order regular CBD oil and measure the dose yourself instead.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
  • Offers precise dosing
  • Relatively high potency of CBD per serving

  • High cost to account for the dose pen
  • No CoA provided for CBD or hemp source

Key Features & Benefits

Metered Pen Means Exact Dosing

The pen itself is the only real feature and benefit of this product. The metered device allows for the delivery of precisely 31.25 mg of CBD every time. There’s nothing special about the contents of the pen — it’s just CBD oil.

About The Company: Flav

There is not an awful lot of information to share about Flav as a company. The company’s “About” page is void of any information about Flav as a company, where it’s based, or who owns it. All that can be found on the “About” page is information about extraction techniques and state and federal law.

Even a complete internet rampage revealed pretty much nothing about Flav. It doesn’t engage in any online marketing — not a Facebook page or Twitter account. The company has a very lousy Instagram page that has a total of about 50 photos. We couldn’t find any customer reviews anywhere on the internet other than those on the Flav website itself.

For all intents and purposes — Flav is a complete mystery. We don’t like mysteries when it comes to buying our health products.

It’s not just company information that Flav has a habit of omitting. Flav leaves out pretty much all comprehensive ingredient lists from its product descriptions. We emailed Flav many times, asking for the ingredients of its products, but Flav’s customer service team never replied.

Flav is also secretive about its hemp source. It isn’t advertised anywhere on the website. On top of that, Flav doesn’t provide a CoA or organic certification to support its claim for having “100% organic, lab-tested cannabis.” Even upon request, Flav never provided us with any of this information.

While Flav’s product range screams variety and color, it pretty much never screams quality assurance! Flav hasn’t put any measures in place to ensure good rapport with customers or any trust in the quality of its products.

In the growing CBD market — which is yet to be appropriately regulated — companies need to build trust with customers.

CBD consumers are becoming increasingly aware of some of the unsafe cultivation and manufacturing processes of the industry, and they want to be reassured of the quality of their products. Without a governing body regulating the manufacture of CBD products, it’s up to companies to prove that their products are well manufactured.

Who Should Consider Using Flav’s Airless Metered Pen?

Flav’s Airless Metered Pen is an unusual product. Flav’s selling point is the exact delivery of 31.25 mg of CBD. With this in mind, the best person to use this product is the person who needs an exact dose of 31.25 mg (or multiple of) of CBD.

Precision is a priority with the Airless Metered Pen, but there’s only one measurement: 31.25 mg.

The person who needs a different dose — like 42.5 mg of CBD — won’t benefit from this Airless Metered Pen because it will never deliver precisely that amount. So the demographics of people who would benefit from this product is small.

Those who need exact precision dosage are probably better off choosing a less expensive, more versatile product. For example, there are CBD capsules on the market that contain exact doses of CBD. There is no need to pay exorbitant prices for the AIrless Metered Pen when there are more economical ways to deliver precise doses.

Price/Value

Customers should be aware that the price tag of this product is more to do with the pen itself than with the CBD oil inside the pen. This pen doesn’t deliver good value for money UNLESS you need help getting a precise dose of CBD oil. There are a lot of valid medical conditions where this would be exceptionally beneficial.

For the average consumer, other products on the market can deliver consistent doses at a more affordable price point.

CBD Potency

Flav has chosen a dosage of 31.25 mg for the Airless Metered Pen. It’s a random dose to have selected, but in any case, it’s an average dose of CBD. It’s not particularly high, nor exceptionally low, but there is no standardized dose of CBD in the medical cannabis industry.

This is also why it is bizarre that Flav has chosen 31.25 mg without justifying exactly who might need a dose like this.

Hemp Source

As mentioned earlier, Flav doesn’t mention the hemp source anywhere on its website. Flav doesn’t provide a CoA or an organic certification for its claims of “100% organic, lab-tested cannabis.”

This says a lot about Flav as a company. It’s not typically impressive when a company makes claims that it can’t back up — especially in an industry where people are using products therapeutically.

Knowing the hemp source and cultivation practices are increasingly important for CBD consumers. Hemp is particularly susceptible to contamination because it has the quality of phytoremediation. This means it can clean the soil of toxic material. While this might be fantastic for farmers who want an in-between crop to regenerate soil, it’s not at all fantastic if that hemp is going to be consumed.

Knowing the hemp source helps a consumer make proper judgments about the products they are consuming and the safety and efficacy of those products. It’s just as important to know the hemp source as it is to know the CBD concentration.

Even upon request, Flav didn’t provide us with any of this information, which dramatically lowers trust in this company.

Purpose/Uses

Although Flav advertises the Airless Metered Pen as medical-grade, it’s only real application is for those that need an exact dose of 31.25 mg of CBD, or a multiple of that number (like 62.5 mg).

Outside of that, there is no specific use for this product. The contents are simply CBD oil, and so any CBD oil could be consumed in its place. The only targeted use of the Airless Metered Pen is in the application of precisely 31.25 mg of CBD.

Formulations/Ingredients

The Flav Airless Metered Pen contains only CBD oil, although Flav hasn’t made it clear whether this is a CBD extract or whether a carrier oil has been used. We don’t even know if this is full-spectrum or not (though we suspect so from the taste of the oil itself). Flav refused to comment.

There are no fancy ingredients — simply a fancy delivery system. The Airless Metered Pen is not a mastery of herbal concoction or herbal medicine. It’s a precise dosage system that makes this product nothing other than a simple CBD oil.

Flav’s Shipping & Returns Policy

Flav offers shipping within the USA only. Shipping costs a flat rate of $6.95, with free shipping available on all orders over $75.

Returns are only accepted for unopened products within seven days of receiving the product. This must be done through the customer service team. Judging by their unresponsiveness with us, we anticipate this will be a difficult process.

At this time, Flav won’t ship overseas to Europe, Australia, or South America.

The Final Verdict: There Are Some Cases Where This is a High-Value Product

Consumers should be aware that this product is nothing more than 250 mg of CBD oil in a precise delivery system. They should also be aware that the price tag is probably due to the delivery system rather than the premium quality CBD oil that is allegedly inside the pen. There is nothing particularly special about Flav’s Airless Metered Pen except for the fact that it delivers exactly 31.25 mg of CBD.

This product might be amazing for the person who’s been waiting around for an exact dose of 31.25 mg and has a hard time accurately dosing their oil — but outside of that, who is this product for exactly?
