Cibaderm Review
This company is a subsidiary of HempMeds — one of the larger manufacturers in the CBD space.
Although we really like their product lineup, we would hardly call them “CBD-infused”. Most of the products in this lineup contain about 10 mg of CBD in the entire bottle. That works out to less than 0.02 mg of CBD in every milliliter of liquid. There are some exceptions, but even these contain less than 0.10 mg per mL.
After ordering these products to give them a try, we were very disappointed in finding out how little CBD was actually inside the bottle.
Mission/Charity5/5
Cibaderm’s mother brand, HempMeds, donates to ECHO, an independent charitable organization involved in supplying cannabinoid education and open-ended collaboration opportunities between patients and doctors. Each donation helps a child with a debilitating condition get the necessary access to CBD products. HempMeds also has a program for veterans, granting them free shipping and a 15% discount applied to all purchases.
Hemp Source4/5
Cibaderm gets their hemp from Europe, where the plants are tested periodically throughout the growing season. The company claims their hemp is free of herbicides, pesticides, and chemical fertilizers, which they back up with the OECD certificate.
Product Range5/5
The Cibaderm brand sells a complete line of CBD-infused skin and hair care products such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotions, and hand creams. Despite the low CBD content, the product lineup is diverse in the beauty and cosmetics category.
Innovation2/5
Like all other brands sold under the HempMeds label, Cibaderm utilizes supercritical CO2 extraction in all their products. The formulas used in these products look, feel, and smell great, but this all falls apart at the incredibly insufficient CBD content.
Safety5/5
Cibaderm claims to perform triple lab-testing through Pro Verde Laboratories and has a video of what the testing process looks like. They do not, however, present documented results on their website. Cibaderm doesn’t have a dedicated website, but once you enter the HempMeds page and choose the “Cibaderm” tab, you’ll learn everything about the safety of their products, how their hemp is sourced, and close-ups of their extraction process.
Customer Service2/5
Any questions and concerns about this product need to go through their parent company HempMeds — which has a dedicated team of customer service representatives to answer any questions. We found their response to our questions about the low hemp content to be very unhelpful. We received a number for a representative at Cibaderm who never answered any of our phone call attempts.
The Cibaderm brand belongs to HempMeds — a company selling just about every category of CBD product you could think of.
Cibaderm is responsible for delivering a complete line of skin and hair care products for customers eager to enhance their morning routine with the moisturizing and nourishing benefits of cannabidiol.
What makes us feel a bit uncomfortable is that Cibaderm isn’t available for sale at HempMeds. For an unknown reason, the company decided to sell its beauty products through a network of retailers. There’s also no information we could find about the companies team members or any sort of story behind the brand.
What Does Cibaderm Sell?
Since its debut during the CHAMPS trade show in Denver, Colorado, the Cibaderm brand has been introduced to customers in all 50 states and over 40 countries across the world.
Cibaderm uses CO2-extracted, full-spectrum CBD for their skin and hair care line. They have 5 different products in their collection including body wash, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and hand cream.
Hemp Fresh Body Wash is Cibaderm’s staple product — infused with a broad spectrum hemp extract to clean, soothe, and moisturize the body. It contains mostly natural ingredients including herbal extracts and notes of peppermint and lavender.
This product has very small amounts of CBD — just 0.02 milligrams per milliliter.
Hemp Clean CBD Shampoo comes with cannabidiol-infused hemp oil to carefully remove impurities and leave your scalp and hair healthy. This shampoo is sulfate-free and safe for artificially-colored hair.
This is a great product overall but lacks enough CBD to be on our radar as a CBD-infused shampoo. With just 0.03 mg of CBD in every milliliter of soap, we found this product to be misleading. This isn’t enough CBD to provide any of the benefits attributed to CBD, especially when you consider the fact that it only comes in contact with the scalp for a few seconds or minutes before being rinsed down the drain forever.
Once you give your hair a good wash with Cibaderm Hemp Clean Shampoo, you can top it up with their Hemp Soft Conditioner.
Aside from having a measly 10 mg of CBD, the conditioner comes with added herbal extract to protect your hair against environmental factors like heat and dryness.
Cibaderm recommends this product for everyday use on all hair types, including colored hair.
We have a similar opinion about this product to their shampoo. With such a small CBD content, we felt deceived when we received this product to find only 10 mg per bottle.
Despite the low CBD content, the formula in this conditioner is very nice. It has a magnificent scent and feels great in the hair after a shower. Just don’t expect it to provide any CBD-specific benefits — you may be disappointed.
This body lotion is targeted at moisturizing the skin and adding a radiantly healthy look year-round. The full-spectrum CBD hemp extract is accompanied by a blend of herbal extracts like lavender, jojoba, goji berry, and angelica.
There’s a common trend with these products — the CBD content is much too low for us to recommend this product as a “CBD Body Lotion”.
The Hemp Hydrate Hand Cream has the highest concentration of CBD among all Cibaderm’s products. It offers 25 mg of cannabidiol in a 120 mL bottle, infused with vitamin E and natural antioxidants for complete skin nourishment.
Cibaderm Hemp Hydrate Hand Cream packs 10x more CBD than their lotions, shampoos, conditioners, and body wash. It also has the lowest cost per mg of CBD. We still don’t recommend using this product as a “CBD Hand Cream” — however, the rest of the formula is actually very high quality.
It’s a shame this company didn’t add CBD in any notable strength to provide any reasonable level of benefits. It seems to be more of a gimmick and marketing trick than anything else.
What Does Cibaderm Do Well?
A Variety of Beauty Products
We all know that feeling when you buy a shampoo or conditioner and you wish the brand you’ve just chosen offered a whole range of such products.
These 5 products are absolutely enough to moisturize, nourish, and revitalize your skin — head to toe.
The only thing they could add to their collection is a CBD-infused face mask or face cream.
Of course, the CBD in these products are minuscule — so keep that in mind.
Where Could Cibaderm Improve?
When a brand has its roots in a large CBD conglomerate, it’s obvious that people will have high expectations. But Cibaderm is by no means revolutionary. The brand simply sells CBD-infused cosmetics and their CBD content leaves a lot to be desired in terms of potency.
1) CBD Content
Finding the CBD content of each product proved difficult for this brand — even after purchasing these products ourselves. We finally managed to gather enough information on these products to put together this review.
Cibaderm clearly needs a dedicated website or at least a tab where all 5 products will be precisely described along with the amount of CBD and other phytonutrients included in the bottle.
The bottom line here is that Cibaderm is a CBD company that uses only trace amounts of CBD in their products. As a subsidiary of HempMeds — one of the larger manufacturers in this space — we were shocked at the poor potency of CBD in these products. Yes, all of them.
The formula is great for all of these skin and hair-care products overall — but we would hardly call them “CBD-infused”.
2) Not Available Directly at HempMeds
This is the most troubling part — HempMeds sells its Cibaderm range through 3rd-party websites instead of its own website.
3) Unclear Lab Test Results
Another drawback that could scare off potential customers is the lack of lab testing results for Cibaderm.
HempMeds proudly speaks of themselves as pioneers in the hemp industry who triple-check each batch of their products in Pro Verde Laboratories before making them available for sale.
While HempMeds provides lab test results for many of their products, the Cibaderm line isn’t among them.
That said, we must rely solely on the company’s word and good reputation. We’ve spent some time browsing the web in search of reviews from customers and we were pleased to find that at least 90% of them were completely satisfied with the results from Cibaderm cosmetics.
Any negative reviews were related to some issues with shipping, but it doesn’t have anything to do with Cibaderm per se. As we said, the line is sold through 3rd-party websites.
This doesn’t change the fact that HempMeds should create a full list of lab tests for each product under the Cibaderm brand.
Safety & Third-Party Testing
Cibaderm products are made using the same hemp as other HempMeds CBD infusions.
The hemp is certified with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). These are organic, non-GMO plants grown without the use of pesticides or herbicides.
The sourcing material is first tested in Europe throughout the growing season, and once imported to the US, HempMeds uses ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accredited testing labs to examine their CBD extracts in terms of safety, potency, and consistency.
Still, HempMeds doesn’t provide lab testing results for their Cibaderm line — not yet anyway.
Final Verdict: A Brand With Strong Potential But Weak in CBD
All in all, Cibaderm is a brand with a strong potential to grow into a true powerhouse. They offer a whole package of high-quality products designed to nourish your skin and hair. None of these products contain artificial dyes and perfumes, and the peppermint-lavender scent only adds more pleasure to the whole experience.
However, calling these products “CBD-infused” is a stretch. The potency is so low in each bottle, we find it unlikely it’s exerting ANY of its beneficial effects.
This was a major oversight on behalf of Cibaderm and their parent company HempMeds.
