CBD For Life Review

CBD For Life started in 2015 and specializes in health and beauty CBD products from shampoo and conditioner to serums and massage oils. How does this company rank in our books? Turns out, there’s a lot to improve on in CBD For Life’s catalog.

Mission/Charity 2/5

There’s a lack of a clear mission statement in CBD For Life. This company hides behind trending buzzwords in the health and beauty industry to promote its products. With an overabundance of CBD companies on the market, we’d rather support companies contributing to CBD research, community programs, and charities.

Hemp Source 1/5

CBD For Life mentions Colorado as a hemp source, but there’s not much information about its source. Apparently, it’s part of CBD For Life’s business strategy to hide this information but will offer answers upon request. We’re not a fan of this lack of transparency, especially when it comes to the unregulated CBD industry. We really can’t be sure where this company gets its hemp — especially when they appear to be using the leftover stems and stalks from other companies.

Product Range 4/5

CBD For Life has a catalog spanning fourteen different products. A bulk of its products is focused on health and beauty with some pain management products. In terms of CBD companies, this is a decent number of options. It could stand to benefit from offering varying CBD strengths and a full-spectrum option.

Innovation 2/5

CBD For Life offers a few unique CBD topical offerings such as shampoos, conditioners, and foot cream, but it fails to provide information regarding its approach to innovation. We’d like to see some insight to the design process of its formulas — in fact, most of the ingredients aren’t as natural as it claims to be, and we’re not sure why it includes such low doses of CBD in so many of its products.

Safety 1/5

CBD For Life doesn’t go beyond generic disclaimers regarding the safety of its products, nor does it provide suggested serving sizes that align with its products. The company also includes a number of known carcinogens and potentially toxic compounds in some of its formulas.

Customer Service 5/5

CBD For Life’s return policy makes sense and isn’t overly complicated. The customer service team initially returned our emails within an hour of being sent and were able to answer our questions with reasonable responses.

CBD For Life Company Review

Article By
Daily CBD , last updated on September 9, 2021

About the Company: CBD For Life

CBD For Life specializes in pain management and beauty products, positioning itself as a luxury brand in the CBD industry.

On the surface, CBD For Life appears to be doing everything right. Its products are aesthetically pleasing, and it has a wide range of different product types and variations in its lineup.

It isn’t until we go beyond the aesthetics that we realize the company may not be as great as it appears — a reminder of the adage, “never judge a book by its cover.”

Let’s explore why we feel this way about CBD For Life.

Where Does CBD For Life Source Its Hemp?

The Homepage comments on the hemp source stating the company use “…99% pure CBD extract from stems and stalks of industrial hemp.”

While you can find some cannabinoids in the stems and stalks, most of the plant’s cannabinoids, terpenes, and other phytonutrients are concentrated in the hemp flower. The ratios of the cannabinoids from the stems and stalks are also very different from the leaves or flowers.

Either CBD For Life doesn’t know much about hemp or it’s using the remnants of the harvested plant to cut the bottom line — at the cost of the products’ end quality.

On the Lavender Pure CBD Roll-On Oil, a customer asks about the company’s lack of transparency when it comes to the company’s hemp sourcing, cannabinoid profile, and concentration, as well as lab testing.

To which CBD for Life’s owner responded that this lack of transparency is part of its business strategy and she is very happy to keep it like this (paraphrasing). This feels less like a business strategy and more like the company has something to hide in terms of the quality of its products.

Inquiries regarding lab tests and CBD concentrations can be made via email to info@cbdforlife.us.

This is bizarre because this business strategy goes against what most successful CBD companies are implementing — transparency in a highly unregulated industry. What’s the harm in informing your customers exactly what they’re purchasing?

She mentions her hemp source here as well:

“We use a CO2 extraction from the stems and stocks of the hemp plant to ensure that our products are THC Free. We also source our CBD [from] a farm in Colorado.”

Because stems and stalks are mentioned twice, we don’t think this is a copywriting error on the Homepage.

What Does CBD For Life Sell?

CBD For Life specializes in health and beauty products promoting “anti-aging, rejuvenation, and vibrancy” and pain management products that “aid in reducing pain, inflammation, and stress.”

The bulk of the company catalog consists of cream and spray topicals but also includes tinctures, oral sprays, and bath bombs.

Let’s breakdown what CBD For Life has to offer:

1. Tinctures

CBD For Life Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp Tinctures

$40.00 – $75.00
Isodiol

CBD For Life Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp Tinctures 30 mL

3.67 / 5

Total CBD: 300 – 600 mg
Potency : 10 – 20 mg/mL
Cost per mg CBD: $0.13

CBD For Life’s Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp Tinctures are available in two different flavor variations — peppermint and unflavored — and two potencies — low (300 mg) and medium (600 mg).

Its name “Phytocannabinoid Rich Hemp Tinctures” is outright misleading.

The product name could be mistaken for a high-quality full-spectrum extract, but here, only one type of cannabinoid is found in this formula — CBD, making it an isolate extract.

We recommend full-spectrum extracts whenever possible to get the most out of your CBD. Cannabinoids work best together for a harmonious effect, similar to a group of instrumentalists playing music together — it’s much more effective than the sum of its parts.

2. Bath Bombs

CBD Infused Bath Bomb

$12.00 – $42.00
CBD For Life

CBD For Life CBD Infused Bath Bomb

2.17 / 5

Total CBD: 35 – 140 mg
Potency: 35 mg
Cost per mg CBD: $0.30 – 0.34
Extract Type: Isolate
THC Content: 0.0%

CBD For Life’s CBD Infused Bath Bombs come in four different formulations: eucalyptus and peppermint, fresh bamboo, lemongrass kiwi, and pink salt and citrus.

Each bath bomb has a unique formula which claims to include pain relief, increased moisturization, and sedative effects.

At 35 mg of CBD per bath bomb, I just don’t see any way you could receive the therapeutic benefits of CBD topically in a bath that will further dilute its potency.

3. Sprays

CBD For Life Pure Oral Spray

CBD For Life carries Pure CBD Oral Sprays, allowing for consistent dosing on top of fast absorption rates.

Priced at $25 for a 10 mL bottle containing 100 mg, they’re pricier than most consumables, especially considering it’s not even using quality hemp if the extract is made from the stems and stalks of the plant.

4. Topicals

A) Pure CBD For Life Rub

$25.00
CBD For Life

CBD For Life Pure CBD For Life Rub

4.5 / 5

Total CBD: 120 mg
Potency : 4.8 mg/g
Cost per mg CBD: $0.20
Extract Type: Isolate
Flavors: Original, Lemongrass, Lavender
THC Content: 0.0%

This rub has a potency of 4.8 mg of CBD per gram of product and comes in 3 scents — original, lemongrass, and lavender. At this low of potency, we don’t see how this rub will deliver pain relief from the major aches and pains, CBD For Life promises. You’re better off spending your $25.00 towards a cream with a higher CBD concentration.

B) Pure CBD Extract Pain Relief Spray

The idea of this product is added convenience as there’s no need to rub this spray into the skin. Each bottle contains 100 mg of CBD, carrying a potency of roughly 0.83 mg/mL — virtually no CBD to provide any benefits whatsoever topically.

C) Pure CBD Eye Serum

It’s difficult to take this eye serum seriously. CBD For Life promises to improve the health and look of skin around the eyes with very low amounts of CBD, but what’s more alarming are the several potentially harmful irritants in the ingredients. This is counterintuitive to the all-natural approach CBD For Life has going for it.

D) Pure CBD Hand and Body Massage Lotion

Yet another dismally low potency product to add to CBD For Life’s catalog. At 0.5 mg.mL, this won’t deliver CBD’s effects effectively, but I’m sure the massage itself will be lovely.

E) Pure CBD Face Cream

This is meant to be a luxurious face cream, and it certainly has the price tag for it at $35 for 50 mL. With only 2 mg of CBD per mL, there’s simply not enough in this formula to provide you with any significant CBD benefits. On top of that, there are ingredients in this formula that are known to cause skin irritation. This isn’t something I would put on my face any time soon.

F) Pure CBD Face and Body Cleanser

I think you get the theme so far in CBD For Life’s topical offerings. This is just another repeat — there’s not enough CBD in this product. You’re immediately washing the CBD off the skin. It doesn’t seem like the best application type for CBD.

G) Pure CBD Foot Cream

$20.00
CBD For Life

CBD For Life Pure CBD Foot Cream 147 mL (5 fl. oz)

2.33 / 5

Total CBD: 87.8 mg
Potency : 0.59 mg/g
Cost per mg CBD: $0.23
Extract Type: Isolate
THC Content: 0.0%

These foot creams cost $20 per 147 g bottle and CBD For Life did not disclose on the package or product description how much CBD is contained in the bottle.

When we asked for third-party lab tests, we found out each bottle contains 87.8 mg of CBD, which gives you a potency of 0.59 mg/mL. If you’re looking to benefit from CBD’s anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, you won’t find it in this bottle.

H) Pure CBD Lip Balm

There’s a lot of unknowns about this product to warrant a $9.00 purchase. We’re not sure what benefit you would get from this lip balm over any other drug store brand. What gave us a red-flag about this one is that CBD For Life claims to maintain an all-natural approach to its products, yet it includes petrolatum and BHT in its ingredients, which also happen to be skin irritants.

*CBD For Life doesn’t provide CBD content per bottle of Pure CBD Lip Balm

I) Pure CBD Roll-On Oil

CBD Roll-Ons offer a convenient way to get localized CBD benefits. CBD For Life formulated these roll-ons for minor pains and is said to help with the symptoms of headaches and migraines.

This might be the only product offered by CBD For Life we don’t hate, but we’re not crazy about them either. It’s overpriced and third-party lab tests show they contain less CBD than advertised.

5. Hair Care

CBD For Life produces CBD shampoos and conditioners which is unique in the CBD space, but there’s nothing unique about the shampoo or conditioner formulas aside from the inclusion of CBD.

A) CBD For Life Pure CBD Shampoo

CBD For Life’s CBD Shampoo contains less CBD than promised, and it’s at a ridiculously low potency to produce any benefits topically — not to mention you’re immediately washing it off. We’re not convinced this is a practical way to supplement CBD.

*CBD For Life doesn’t provide CBD content per bottle of Pure CBD Shampoo travel size

B) CBD For Life Pure CBD Conditioner

$10.00 – $25.00
CBD For Life

CBD For Life Pure CBD Conditioner 295 mL

4 / 5

Total CBD: 100 mg
Potency : 0.34 mg/mL
Cost per mg CBD: $0.25
Extract Type: Isolate
THC Content: 0.0%

The Conditioner has a CBD potency of 0.34 mg/mL, but the lab tests show us the total CBD content is 75.1 mg, bringing it’s potency down even lower to 0.25 mg/mL. Again, we’re not sure adding CBD to a conditioner is necessairy. With this low of a potency, we wouldn’t bother with this option even if it’s the only CBD conditioner on the market.

*CBD For Life doesn’t provide CBD content per bottle of Pure CBD Conditioner travel size

What Does CBD For Life Do Well?

If there’s one thing CBD For Life does well, it’s in the aesthetics. The product packaging is beautiful and offers easy user functionality.

Another thing that caught our eye is CBD For Life’s product assortment and specialization in the beauty industry. The company carries a total of fourteen different products in its catalog, which rises to twenty-six different options when taking the product variations into consideration. This doesn’t include product bundles or apparel.

However, it wasn’t until diving deeper into each individual product’s ingredients list that we were able to detect some potentially harmful ingredients — which we’ll get into in more detail in the next section.

Where Could CBD For Life Improve?

Product packaging only takes you so far if the products themselves aren’t anything special.

This brand markets itself as a highly innovative, natural, and luxurious CBD brand.

Scraping beyond the surface of the packaging reveals the ingredient lists aren’t as natural as advertised, nor is there anything innovative about its product lineup.

First of all, it could stand to improve on its hemp source and higher concentrations of extracts for its formulas.

CBD For Life should strongly consider buying hemp flower derived extracts instead of the stems and stalks generally used in the textile industry.

Additionally, some of the ingredients listed were potentially harmful synthetic chemicals.

This is especially alarming when the company boasts products free of GMOs, parabens, phthalates, and formaldehyde while stating its products are 95% naturally derived.

While the edible products contain no potentially harmful ingredients, a majority of topicals contain possible skin irritants such as:

The most concerning product in the catalog is the company’s Pure CBD Eye Serum, which contains upwards of eight potentially harmful ingredients, including some mentioned above.

When it comes to safety, CBD For Life doesn’t say much in terms of how to get the most out of its products to improve your lifestyle.

With the exception of the tinctures, which carry generally suggested doses, no topicals have any suggested serving sizes, so it’s up to the user to make their own decisions about where to start.

Another major area of improvement would be the provision of third-party tests results on the website for the public. While some test results were provided upon request, it’s beneficial to both parties if these tests were provided for all products rather than a select few.

Lastly, is the call for transparency.

What we mean by that is insight in CBD For Life’s production processes, whether that’s a central location akin to a FAQs section covering subjects including hemp source, extraction methods, and more insight into the company’s mission as a whole.

The lack of presenting products’ CBD content is a cause for concern, especially when third-party test results tell a different story once we were finally able to track them down.

A bulk of the information we seek is tucked away in the “question” section of individual products, and it comes across as a form of deceit, especially in the CBD industry where the market is unregulated.

Safety & Third-Party Testing

It’s odd that the third-party lab results aren’t readily available on the website. However, when we emailed its customer service, some lab tests were promptly provided.

In total, we received 13 test results out of a possible 26 different products plus test results for the CBD isolate, which the company doesn’t sell but uses in its production processes.

While third-party test results show nothing alarming, it’s more about what they don’t show that has us worried.

Here’s what the company tested for with the results they sent us:

  1. Potency levels
  2. THC levels
  3. Pesticides
  4. Heavy metals

Here’s what the company didn’t include in the tests they sent us:

  1. Microbes
  2. Mycotoxins
  3. Solvents
  4. Terpene profile

We would feel better about this brand if it were more transparent in its hemp sourcing. If there’s nothing shady to hide about your products, why not list the lab results on the product description page?

CBD For Life’s Shipping and Return Policy

CBD For Life only ships within the United States and the cost of shipping depends on the destination. Orders are processed typically within 2-3 business days and delivery time will depend on the destination the package is sent to.

CBD For Life has a 30 day 100% satisfaction guarantee for its products. If you’re not happy with your purchase, you may return the unused product for a full refund minus the cost of shipping and handling. To request a refund, you must first contact customer service via email at info@cbdforlife.us.

Final Verdict: Steer Clear of These Beautifully Packaged Snake Oils

We don’t recommend purchasing from CBD For Life, as a majority of its products contain potentially harmful ingredients and carry lower than advertised potencies that aren’t worth their price tags.

There’s much for CBD For Life to work on before we can recommend purchasing any product from them.

For starters, we would like to see the elimination of potentially harmful ingredients, which is self-explanatory.

Next, we wish for CBD For Life to provide transparency. This includes the likes of where its hemp is sourced and CBD content.

Additionally, we’d like to see accurate cannabinoid content with this information provided in a central location via FAQs or equivalent.

Within the heavily unregulated CBD industry, there are plenty of companies taking advantage of those who simply don’t know any better.

It’s companies and situations like these that we feel the need to remind people to remain skeptical until conducting research before purchasing.

CBD products might not always contain what you think and their potency may not always be as strong as advertised.

Just like how CBD isn’t a miracle to your solutions, its usage doesn’t necessarily mean your problems are going to disappear.
