Best CBD Company Reviews: Top CBD Oil Brands & Manufacturers [2022]

Healthworx Review

Healthworx is a CBD company based in Colorado, the leading U.S. hemp industry state. It offers a wide range of CBD products, including tinctures, capsules, THC-free options, topicals, pet oils, and less common offerings such as CBD crystals and shatter.

Like many Colorado CBD brands, Healthworx stands out for using a high-quality, domestic hemp source and industry-leading CBD extraction methods.

Unfortunately, the company falls short on a few fronts: their third-party results are inconsistent and it’s not clear what type of CBD extract is used in some of its products.

Although Healthworx is still an okay choice, shortcomings such as these prevent it from being considered a top-tier CBD company.

Mission/Charity 3/5

Healthworx has a fairly generic mission of offering the best CBD products while remaining transparent and focusing on serving the customer.

Although they do back this statement by gestures such as offering a 15% discount to veterans, seniors, and low-income families, and providing extensive CBD education resources on their blog, the company simply doesn’t inspire us like some other brands.

Hemp Source 3/5

Healthworx has a fairly high-quality source of CBD: non-GMO farms in Colorado. It claims this hemp is grown with organic practices, but there is no USDA certification to prove this.

The company also provides extensive third-party testing of its products, which includes tests for cannabinoid profile, heavy metals, and pesticides. However, some of these tests are missing for some products.

Product Range 5/5

Healthworx has a wide product range that includes all of the common (and less common) categories: CBD oil tinctures, capsules, e-liquids, topicals, crystals, vape pens, and pet oils.

These products have a wide range of applications and unique characteristics, helping customers choose what suits them best.

Innovation 4/5

Healthworx demonstrates its innovation by offering some of the more unique CBD products currently available, such as topical preparations and CBD shatter (terpene-infused isolate).

It also uses the supercritical CO2 extraction method preferred by most leading CBD companies.

In addition, many of their vape products use Tec temper, a newer and arguably better type of vape oil base.

Safety 3/5

Healthworx’s use of third-party heavy metals and pesticide testing confirms that their products are safe to use. They also provide useful educational information related to dosing with all of their products.

However, the company loses points for not providing detailed third-party test results for all products and failing to provide clear, correct information about what type of CBD extract is present in some of its products.

Customer Service 4/5

Healthworx holds an average 4.5/5 star rating based on thousands of customer reviews. As such, we’re inclined to say the company has a good level of customer service.

However, one weak area is their return policy — customers can only receive a refund within seven days of receiving their product, which is a fairly small window of time.

About the Company: Healthworx

Healthworx is a Colorado-based CBD brand offering a wide range of products, including tinctures, capsules, topicals, vape oils, and pet oils.

Overall, Healthworx is a fairly good CBD company. However, it misses a few checkmarks to be considered a truly top-notch provider of CBD, such as consistent third-party results, accurate product descriptions, and well-defined uses for all products.

Like most Colorado CBD companies, Healthworx claims to use non-GMO, organic hemp. This hemp is then processed using supercritical CO2 extraction — the CBD industry gold standard. The result is a high-grade plant extract made without the use of harmful additives and solvents.

Also, the company employs the help of independent labs to test its products for potency, and to search for the presence of pesticides and heavy metals. These tests confirm Healthworx’s products contain what it claims and are safe to use. However, some of these tests are missing for several of the company’s products.

Where Does Healthworx Source Its Hemp?

Healthworx sources its hemp from what they describe as “one of the largest Colorado-based organic hemp farms.” They claim this hemp is non-GMO and free of pesticides.

Although there’s no way for us to check if this is true and accurate, we checked out the companies third-party test results — all of which pass with flying colors. This backs up their claims to use top-notch hemp with no pesticide application.

Products Offered by Healthworx

Healthworx sells a wide range of CBD products. These include standard offerings such as tinctures, capsules, topicals, and vape products, as well as less common preparations such as pet oils and shatters — a pure, crystal form of CBD mixed with terpenes.

Let’s discuss these in more detail.

1. Tinctures & Oils

A) Healthworx Full-Spectrum CBD Oil

Like most brands, Healthworx’s most popular product is the tried-and-true full-spectrum CBD oil. These tinctures are meant to be a cost-effective and convenient way to get all the benefits of hemp.

The formula used is as close to nature as possible, containing only full-spectrum hemp extract mixed with coconut-derived MCT oil. There is no added flavoring, giving the tinctures the unique earthy flavor hemp oil is known for.

This CBD oil comes in three strengths: 15 mL with 500 mg CBD (33 mg/mL), 30 mL with 1500 mg CBD (50 mg/mL), and 30 mL with 5000 mg CBD (166.67 mg/mL).

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx Full Spectrum CBD Oil:

Product Name Total CBD Price Total Volume CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
Full Spectrum 500 mg CBD Tincture 500 mg $44.99 15 mL 33.33 mg/mL $0.09
Full Spectrum 1500 mg CBD Tincture 1500 mg $129.99 30 mL 50 mg/mL $0.09
Full Spectrum 5000 mg CBD Tincture 5000 mg $329.99 30 mL 166.67 mg/mL $0.07

B) THC-Free CBD Oil

Healthworx also offers a CBD tincture that’s guaranteed to be completely free of THC. In order to achieve this, Healthworx is using CBD isolate — which means the final product is free from all other cannabinoids and terpenes present in the hemp plant as well.

Although we recommend using full-spectrum oils, CBD isolate tinctures are favored by people who need to pass marijuana drug tests or have high sensitivity to THC.

Similar to Healthworx’s full-spectrum oil, this tincture contains only two ingredients: MCT oil and CBD isolate.

All of these tinctures come in 15 mL bottles with one of five strengths: 200 mg, 600 mg, 1000 mg, 1500 mg, and 3000 mg, providing numerous options for CBD potency.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx THC Free CBD Oil:

Product Name Total CBD Price Total Volume CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
CBD Oil 200 mg THC Free 200 mg $19.99 15 mL 13.33 mg/mL $0.10
CBD Oil 600 mg THC Free 600 mg $59.99 15 mL 40 mg/mL $0.10
CBD Oil 1000 mg THC Free 1000 mg $99.99 15 mL 66.67 mg/mL $0.10
CBD Oil 1500 mg THC Free 1500 mg $129.99 15 mL 100 mg/mL $0.9
CBD Oil 3000 mg THC Free 3000 mg $189.99 15 mL 200 mg/mL $0.06

2. CBD Capsules

A) Full Spectrum CBD Capsules

Healthworx also offers full-spectrum CBD capsules, which are essentially an encapsulated version of the company’s liquid oil.

These capsules provide the advantage of precise dosing (each capsule contains 25 mg of CBD) and convenience, since all you have to do is swallow the capsule with some water.

These capsules contain full-spectrum hemp extract with coconut-derived MCT oil in a vegetarian (cellulose) capsule. They come in 30 and 60-count variations, for a total of 750 mg or 1500 mg of CBD.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx Full Spectrum CBD Capsules:

Product Name Total CBD Price Total Capsules CBD per Serving Cost per mg CBD
Full-Spectrum CBD Capsules (30 Capsules) 750 mg $89.99 30 25 mg $0.12
Full-Spectrum CBD Capsules (60 Capsules) 1500 mg $149.99 60 25 mg $0.10

B) THC Free Capsules

Just like their THC-free CBD oil, Healthworx also offers a THC-free alternative for capsules. These contain 25 mg of CBD each, making it convenient for people who want to completely avoid THC. These capsules come in 5, 10, 30, and 60-count options.

There is, however, one problem. Third-party tests for all of these capsules posted on the company’s website show trace amounts of THC — low enough to avoid any psychoactive effects, but not exactly “THC-free.”

In fact, the tests show other cannabinoids as well, suggesting that these capsules are actually formulated with full-spectrum extract.

While this doesn’t make the capsules dangerous or useless, it’s a sign of a lack of care, suggesting that Healthworx either posted the wrong test results or formulated the capsules the wrong way.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx THC Free CBD Capsules:

Product Name Total CBD Price Total Capsules CBD per Serving Cost per mg CBD
THC Free CBD Capsules (5 ct) 125 mg $15.99 5 25 mg $0.13
THC Free CBD Capsules (10 ct) 250 mg $29.99 10 25 mg $0.12
THC Free CBD Capsules (30 ct) 750 mg $89.99 30 25 mg $0.12
THC Free CBD Capsules (60 ct) 1500 mg $149.99 60 25 mg $0.10

3. CBD Topicals

If you’re interested in bringing the benefits of CBD to your skin, Healthworx offers five topical products: muscle gel, rescue butter, barrier balm, massage oil, and lip balm.

However, these topical products all missing third-party certificate of analysis (COA) documents that show their cannabinoid profile.

This means we can’t verify Healthworx’s claims of using full-spectrum or THC-free CBD extract for their topical products.

A) CBD Muscle Freeze Gel

For athletes and others who suffer from sore and painful muscles and joints, Healthworx offers a CBD muscle freeze gel. This gel can be applied directly to the affected area(s).

The gel supposedly contains full-spectrum CBD extract mixed with a blend of botanical ingredients designed to support the calming, pain, and inflammation-relieving effects of CBD, such as peppermint oil.

It has a CBD potency of 5 mg/mL, which is on the lower end but should be sufficient to provide at least some relief.

Key Ingredients:

  • Full-spectrum CBD (Cannabidiol)
  • Black pepper oil
  • Peppermint oil
  • Rosemary leaf oil

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx CBD Muscle Freeze Gel:

Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Price CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
CBD Muscle Freeze Gel 500 mg 100 mL $59.99 5 mg/mL $0.12

B) CBD Rescue Butter

This CBD topical is designed for whole-body use by combining CBD with hydrating ingredients such as mango seed butter.

In particular, Healthworx says this butter has soothing, calming, and moisturizing effects that are ideal for dry, chapped, and damaged skin.

This product is supposedly free of THC, but it’s not clear whether it contains broad-spectrum CBD extract or CBD isolate.

This butter contains 500 mg of CBD in a 1 oz (30 mL) container, giving it a medium CBD potency of 16.67 mg per mL.

Key Ingredients:

  • THC-free CBD (Cannabidiol)
  • Olive fruit oil
  • Mango seed butter
  • Poppy seed oil

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx CBD Rescue Butter:

Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Price CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
CBD Rescue Butter 500 mg 30 mL (1 oz) $49.99 16.67 mg/mL $0.10

C) CBD Barrier Balm

Healthworx claims this Barrier Balm is meant to help with pain and soreness.

However, it appears to use the exact same ingredients and 1 oz container as their Rescue Butter, so we’re not entirely sure why it’s a separate product with a different suggested use.

Having said that, it does have a strong enough CBD concentration (16.67 mg/mL) to reduce pain and inflammation as advertised.

Key Ingredients:

  • THC-free CBD (Cannabidiol)
  • Olive fruit oil
  • Mango seed butter
  • Poppyseed oil

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx CBD Barrier Balm:

Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Price CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
CBD Barrier Balm 500 mg 30 mL (1 oz) $49.99 16.67 mg/mL $0.10

D) Skin Vitality CBD Oil Roll-On:

Healthworx recommends using their Skin Vitality roll-on for skin issues such as sunburns and irritation, since it contains many other skincare ingredients commonly used to support healthy skin.

This product comes with a convenient roll-on container, making it easy and mess-free to apply. The roll-on has a non-greasy formula containing THC-free CBD, aloe oil, sunflower seed oil, vitamin E, and other skincare ingredients.

It comes in a 10 mL container with 250 mg of CBD (25 mg/mL), which is a medium level of potency.

Key Ingredients

  • THC-free CBD (Cannabidiol)
  • Rosemary leaf extract
  • Sunflower seed oil
  • Aloe vera
  • Primrose seed oil

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx CBD Oil Roll-On:

Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Price CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
CBD Oil Roll-On 250 mg 10 mL $24.99 25 mg/mL $0.10

D) CBD Lip Balm

Finally, Healthworx also offers a CBD-infused lip balm. As the name suggests, this balm is meant to moisturize, soothe, and protect the lips.

In addition to THC-free CBD extract, it contains typical lip balm ingredients such as beeswax, cocoa butter, and shea butter.

The whole tube of lip balm contains 50 mg of CBD, which is relatively high considering its small size. We found this product excellent for easing cracked lips and applying to small cuts and scratches.

Key Ingredients

  • THC-free CBD (Cannabidiol)
  • Beeswax
  • Avocado butter
  • Almond oil

Cost Breakdown of Healthworx CBD Lip Balm:

Product Name Total CBD Price Cost per mg CBD
CBD Lip Balm 50 mg $7.99 $0.16

4. CBD Vape Products

A) CBD Vape Oil

For people who prefer to vape CBD, Healthworx offers vape oils made with CBD, MCT oil, additional terpenes, and a small amount of CBDV — a minor cannabinoid naturally produced in the hemp plant.

These oils are meant to be used in a separate vaporizer and come in a 15 mL bottle with 1000 mg CBD, which gives them a fairly high CBD potency.

You can find these E-liquids in a variety of THC-free terpene flavors based on medical cannabis strains, such as Gorilla Glue.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx CBD Vape Oils:

Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Price CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
CBD Vape Oil 1000 mg 1000 mg 15 mL $59.99 66.67 mg/mL $0.06

B) CBD Vaporizer Cartridges

For people who would rather attach a cartridge to their vape device, Healthworx offers disposable CBD vape cartridges. These cartridges are compatible with standard 510-thread batteries. .

The cartridges contain a mixture of broad-spectrum CBD extract, a blend of terpenes based on specific cannabis strains, and TEC temper oil — a newer type of vape e-liquid base that may have anti-irritant properties. They pack quite a punch with 300 – 500 mg of CBD in 1 mL of liquid.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Healthworx CBD Vaporizer Cartridges:

Product Name Total CBD Total Volume Price CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
CBD Vape Cartridge 300 mg 300 mg 1 mL $39.99 300 mg/mL $0.13
CBD Vape Cartridge 500 mg 500 mg 1 mL $59.99 500 mg/mL $0.12

C) Disposable CBD Vapes

For beginner vapers and those looking for the ultimate convenience, Healthworx also sells disposable, pre-filled CBD vape pens.

These pens take all the headache out of vaping — no more refilling tanks, keeping batteries charged, or replacing burnt-out coils.

Similar to Healthworx’s cartridges, these pens contain broad-spectrum CBD extract, a specific blend of terpenes, and TEC Temper.

Cost Breakdown of Healthworx Disposable CBD Vapes:

Product Name Total CBD Price Cost per mg CBD
CBD Vape Pen 300 mg 300 mg $34.99 $0.12

5. CBD Isolate

A) CBD Crystals

Healthworx also offers CBD isolate in the form of solid, 99+% pure CBD crystals.

This form of CBD is ideal for dabbing, people who require high doses, or those who want to mix it with other ingredients to create their own DIY CBD preparations, such as edibles or makeshift tinctures.

Healthworx’s CBD crystals come in 500 mg and 1000 mg varieties.

Cost Breakdown of Healthworx CBD Crystals:

Product Name Total CBD Price Cost per mg CBD
500 mg CBD Isolate 500 mg $34.99 $0.07
1000 mg CBD Isolate 1000 mg $69.99 $0.07

B) CBD Shatter

Healthworx also offers shatter — a form of CBD isolate mixed with a specific blend of terpenes. Like pure CBD crystals, shatter can be used in a variety of ways, such as dabbing and making your own CBD preparations.

Similar to Healthworx’s vape products, the shatter comes in different terpene flavors based on the terpene profiles of specific cannabis strains, such as OG Kush, Pineapple Express, and Super Lemon Haze.

However, unlike the cannabis strains shatters are named after, they’re completely non-intoxicating since they contain 0% THC.

Cost Breakdown of Healthworx CBD Shatter:

Product Name Total CBD Price Cost per mg CBD
1000 mg CBD Shatter 1000 mg $54.99 $0.05

6. CBD Pet Oils

Pet THC-Free CBD Oil

This is Healthworx CBD pet oil option — something a lot of CBD companies are doing. It’s essentially the same THC-free, CBD isolate oil the company sells for humans.

This oil comes in a 15 mL tincture with 600 mg of CBD. Although the resulting CBD potency of 13.33 mg/mL is not that high, it should be enough for most pets because of their smaller size and increased sensitivity to cannabis.

Cost & Potency Breakdown of Petworx Pet CBD Oil:

Product Name Total CBD Price Total Volume CBD Potency (mg/mL) Cost per mg CBD
Petworx 600 mg THC Free CBD Oil 600 mg $59.99 15 mL 13.33 mg/mL $0.10

What Does Healthworx Do Well?

1.    Wide Variety of Products

For starters, Healthworx has a wide range of CBD products for different uses at fairly reasonable prices. There’s a little of something for everyone: tinctures, capsules, THC-free options, pet oils, vape products, topicals, and pure CBD crystals.

2. Quality Hemp and Extraction

Healthworx uses non-GMO hemp grown locally in Colorado, the leading state of the American hemp industry. This hemp is extracted using the industry gold standard supercritical CO2 extraction method.

3. Extensive Third-Party Testing

The company builds trust with its customers by providing third-party test results not just for the cannabinoid profile of its products but also the presence of pesticides and heavy metals.

Where Could Healthworx Improve?

1. Inaccurate CBD Extract Descriptions

Healthworx has an issue with writing accurate production descriptions. For example, its “0% THC” CBD capsules are accompanied by third-party tests showing the capsules actually contain a small amount of THC (1.3 mg per gram).

Similarly, Healthworx doesn’t make it clear whether some of its products contain CBD isolate or broad-spectrum hemp extract. This is misleading since broad-spectrum extracts have a slightly wide range of effects thanks to containing other beneficial hemp compounds.

2. Incomplete Third-Party Test Documents

Healthworx is missing third-party tests for some of its products. Most notably, all of Healthworx’s topical products are missing third-party certificate of analysis (COA) documents showing the amounts of cannabinoids present.

This means we can’t confirm what kind of CBD extract is used and at what concentrations. Similarly, many products are missing heavy metals tests.

3. Lack of Well-Defined Product Purpose

One last area Healthworx can improve on is the suggested purpose of its products. As it stands, there isn’t a clear, defined use for some products. For example, the company offers two topical products with the same formula but suggests using them for completely different goals without an explanation.

Safety & Third-Party Testing

Healthworx provides recent third-party test results for potency, pesticides, and heavy metals. Unfortunately, as we highlighted above, not all of these tests are present for all products. Some are missing potency tests, whereas others are missing data for heavy metals.

Healthworx’s tests are done by Proverde and Botanacor Labs — two reputable American hemp laboratories.

The potency tests show the cannabinoid profile of their products, highlighting whether they use full-spectrum extract, broad-spectrum extract, or CBD isolate. Meanwhile, the pesticide and heavy metals tests prove their products are safe.

Healthworx’s Shipping and Return Policy

Healthworx ships only to the United States. They offer full refunds as long as they’re requested within seven days of receiving your order.

Final Verdict: A Decent CBD Company That’s Missing Some Things To Be Top-Tier

Healthworx is a pretty good choice. However, they are lacking in a few areas to be considered a leading CBD brand.

We’d still recommend Healthworx as a company. They use hemp grown and extracted in Colorado, the state with the most advanced hemp industry in the United States.

They also provide extensive, albeit incomplete third-party tests of their products and prove their ethical commitment to customers by offering discounts to certain groups and providing educational material on CBD.

Having said that, we’d like to see Healthworx improve before considering them one of the top CBD brands such as Lazarus Naturals.

As we highlighted earlier, the company makes several notable mistakes:

  • Claiming to offer THC-free capsules that third-party tests show contain small amounts of THC
  • Missing third-party potency or heavy metals tests for some products
  • Failing to clarify what kind of CBD extract some products contain
  • Not providing a clear purpose or use for some products

These errors highlight the lack of CBD expertise that keeps Healthworx from being considered a top-tier CBD company.
