Green Garden Gold Day Sunrise and Night Moonlight Serums

This product is no longer sold by Green Garden Gold.

Green Garden Gold offers two skincare serums, adding to its arsenal of diverse CBD products. These CBD enriched serums — one for day and the other for evening use — include skin-loving ingredients and are free from nasty additives. It’s formulated to target signs of aging, reduce skin irritation, and improve the overall appearance of skin.

Are you up for spending the luxury price tag of $49.99 per bottle? Here’s our in-depth review of why we think GGG may have overshot the price for these serums.

Price/Value 2/5

I wouldn’t call this an affordable skincare serum — $50 for a 20 mL bottle leans on the luxury skincare price tag. The organic CBD extract, in addition to the skin-nourishing ingredients, drives the overall price of the product. We’re hesitant to purchase a beauty serum from a brand that also sells pet treats at this price point.

CBD Potency 3/5

The potency of both serums are very low, but the products’ intended purpose matches the strength. These serums aren’t for treating severe inflammation or pain. The serums are designed to improve the overall quality of skin health. 3.75 mg CBD per mL potency will do the trick, especially when combined with skin-loving ingredients.

Hemp Source 4/5

Green Garden Gold uses hemp grown in Colorado. This area is known for its high-quality hemp export because of the strict agricultural standards and rich soil. Green Garden Gold’s hemp is also certified organic, making it unlikely to have come into contact with hazardous materials — it’s a shame they don’t provide complete third-party lab results.

Purpose/Uses 4/5

These serums are day and night moisturizers. The ingredient lists make sense for its purpose and compliment CBD well for reducing redness, inflammation, and irritation.

Product Variations 4/5

Green Garden Gold offers two variations on the serums with slight differences making them better suited for either morning or night. Morning and night serums are standard for skincare lines as our skins require different care routines. It would be nice to see these bottles offered in various sizes.

Formulation/Ingredients 4/5

When it comes to the skin-nourishing ingredients in this formula, we’re impressed. These serums are jam-packed with vitamins and healthy fats to improve the texture and luminosity of the skin. It would score better if it incorporated a full-spectrum CBD extract — as promised — instead of CBD isolate, as revealed in the CoA.

Green Garden Gold Day Sunrise and Night Moonlight Serums Review

A skincare routine is one of the best ways to practice self-care and improve skin health.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of many therapeutic compounds found in the cannabis plant. Among the many benefits of CBD is its impressive ability to reduce inflammation and has been shown to regulate excessive sebaceous lipid production that causes acne [1].

Green Garden Gold (GGG) formulated the Day Sunrise and Night Moonlight CBD serums to brighten dull skin, prevent wrinkles, and reduce redness and irritation. They’re formulated with ingredients jam-packed with nutrients your skin will love.

Want to know if these serums will make a valuable addition to your skincare routine? We’ll go over GGG’s hemp source, the ingredient list, pricing, and more in this review.

Product Overview: Day Sunrise and Night Moonlight Serum

A little goes a long way with this product. It’s loaded with nutrient-rich oils that your skin will readily absorb. We’ll discuss the formula, the pricing, and potency further along in the article — but first, let’s cut straight to the point.

We appreciate when a company creates a formula that leverages the benefits of CBD, with the understanding that CBD is not a magical cure-all compound.

CBD has excellent anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe irritated skin. The non-CBD ingredients in the serums will also offer many benefits for your skin. They improve moisture, reduce scarring, and promote cell regeneration. When combined, CBD will be useful even at a low potency of 3.75 mg of CBD per mL.

While its ingredients check out, we’re still not convinced we’re ready to spend luxury skincare prices with GGG.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
  • Skin-nourishing formula
  • Appropriate variations for day or night use
  • Incomplete third-party testing
  • Uses a CBD isolate instead of full-spectrum
  • Expensive

Key Features & Benefits

1. Skin Nourishing Formula

The skin is our largest organ, and it’s our first line of defense against pollutants from our environment. Developing a skincare routine will help our skin protect us and help us look our best.

These serums include ingredients your skin will love, full of vitamins and healthy fats to nurture and boost the skin’s elasticity.

2. Two Serums Suited For Day and Night-Time Use

Our skin may require different needs in the day than in the evening.

The Day Sunrise serum is designed to have a refreshing sensation to the skin for an energizing start to the day — the oils included aren’t as heavy as the Night Moonlight serum. The Night Moonlight serum contains thicker oils for recovery and intensive hydration.

About the Company: Green Garden Gold

Green Garden Gold (GGG) is a Texas-based with a product line-up of over 20 different products with multiple CBD potencies and flavors. With so many different products in a catalog, it can be a challenge to maintain quality across the shelf.

GGG has a bad reputation when it comes to making extravagant claims about its CBD products.

In 2016, GGG received a letter from the FDA outlining fraudulent information on its website in the form of product descriptions, blog posts, and fake testimonials.

GGG has since resolved all these infractions, but it still has a lot to work on to become a reputable CBD supplier by our standards. This includes customer transparency with timely customer service communication and complete third-party lab tests.

Who are the Day Sunrise and Night Moonlight Serums for?

Everyone has skin, but not everyone takes care of it.

Reserving the personal time to tap into some self-care at the beginning and end of the day is a ritual that adds a little happiness to a routine.

But what does the actual product do for the skin?

Well, the Day Sunrise and Night Moonlight serums are both designed for those who are looking to improve:

  • Acne
  • Dryness
  • Signs of aging
  • Redness
  • Irritation

What’s the Difference?

The Sunrise and Moonlight serums contain similar ingredients, with small variations making them more appropriate for night or day use.

We’ll discuss the common ingredients used later in the article, but first, we’ll go over what makes each product unique.

Let’s start with the Day Sunrise Serum:

  • Squalene oil
  • Camellia seed oil
  • Tamanu oil
  • Rosehip oil
  • Marula oil
  • Spearmint essential oil
  • Ginger essential oil
  • Eucalyptus essential oil
  • Clove Bud essential oil

All of these ingredients are designed to help wake up, hydrate, and heal. The essential oils in this formula — spearmint, ginger, eucalyptus, and clove — have an invigorating action to the skin. It stimulates blood flow and awakens the senses.

Now let’s cover the Night Moonlight Serum:

  • Macadamia nut oil
  • Geranium essential oil
  • Chamomile essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil

This formula includes macadamia nut oil that feels heavier on the skin, making it more appropriate for evening use. Its purpose is to restore and nourish the skin while you sleep. The essential oils in this formula are fragrances you might be familiar with in aromatherapy to promote relaxation and sleep.

Price/Value

$50 serums in the beauty industry are not unheard of. Luxury serums with designer names will fall under this price bracket. Considering the ingredient list, I’d say these serums could compete in this price range fairly. This product is targeted to those serious about skincare and isn’t afraid to spend the money on it.

That being said, we don’t like spending $50 on serum from a company that doesn’t advertise its effects correctly. CBD isolate products won’t give you the benefits of the entourage effect.

You’re paying premium pricing for a luxury brand’s reputation in the industry as being one of the best. Unfortunately, GGG isn’t the best in the industry, and its skincare doesn’t even come close to luxury.

Cost Breakdown of the Green Garden Gold Skin Serums:

Product Name Price Total CBD Price Per mg CBD
Day Sunrise Serum (20 mL) $49.99 75 mg $0.66
Night Moonlight Serum (20 mL) $49.99 75 mg $0.66

The best way to compare CBD products is to calculate the price per mg of CBD contained in the package. The industry average ranges anywhere from $0.10 – $0.16. Of course, the prices will vary depending on the additional ingredients used in the formula, quality of CBD, and lab tests.

CBD Potency

The low CBD potency does not mean that these serums are ineffective, but you won’t be getting the benefits of the entourage effect as advertised.

“”Our CBD oil products are more than simply CBD they have CBD plus other naturally-occurring phytocannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and more, ensuring you receive the full entourage effect.””

This a direct quote from the serums product page on GGG’s website. Given that the Certificate of Analysis (CoA) provided on the site say these serums only contain CBD, you won’t be getting the benefits of the entourage effect.

This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this claim on GGG’s website.

There’s no way to leverage the entourage effect with CBD alone. It requires other cannabinoids, which this extract is void of.

Either the company doesn’t understand its own product, or it’s lying to create a more impressive product description. Whatever the case, it doesn’t reflect well on the company.

Potency Breakdown of the Green Garden Gold Skin Serums:

Product Name Total CBD Content CBD Concentration(mg/mL) Potency Level
Day Sunrise Serum (20 mL) 75 mg 3.75 mg/mL Low
Night Moonlight Serum (20 mL) 75 mg 3.75 mg/mL Low

Hemp Source

Green Garden Gold sources its hemp from Colorado, a state in the US that has strict agricultural standards. Those standards in combination with low pollution and rich soil result in a high-quality hemp export currently in high demand.

The hemp is also certified organic by USDA standards, which means any contact with chemical pesticides and heavy metals is very unlikely. However, GGG doesn’t provide the third-party lab tests to back this claim.

Third-party testing isn’t mandatory in the industry, but it has become a best practice. The serious CBD players are investing the extra money in third-party lab testing. Showcasing the company’s value in transparency is important to savvy CBD consumers.

Aside from the cannabinoid profile and potency provided, we want to see these products have also been tested for microbes, harmful solvents, and other toxins.

Purpose/Use

These serums are intended for skincare to improve the appearance and texture of the skin. According to the website, the Day Sunrise and Night Moonlight are designed to address dryness, inflammation, aging skin, and acne. You can add this to virtually any skincare routine. The two serums have different formulas that make them more appropriate for the morning or evening use.

Formulation/Ingredients

1. Sunflower Seed Oil

Sunflower seed oil has a 0 comedogenic rating. The comedogenic rating signifies the chances an ingredient will clog pores. Considering this is one of the primary ingredients in the formulas, it’s essential to use a carrier oil that won’t clog pores.

Sunflower seed oil is well tolerated for sensitive skin. It’s rich in vitamins E, A, and, and it’s high in antioxidants making it ideal for anti-aging and anti-acne formulas.

2. Broccoli Seed Oil

Broccoli seed oil is deeply moisturizing and rich in essential fatty acids  — the building blocks for the skin’s cell membranes. This oil can penetrate deep into the layers of skin to provide long-lasting hydration without leaving the surface of the skin feeling greasy.

3. Tamanu Oil

Look for tamanu oil in the ingredient list if you’re healing acne or fading scars. It’s included in the Day Sunrise serum and one of the most effective oils for spot treatments.

Tamanu oil activates cell turnover by removing old, dull skin to reveal a brighter new layer of skin. This is its natural skin cell regenerating property.

4. Avena sativa Oil (Oat)

Oat is a well-balanced oil that is excellent for dry and sensitive skin types. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant properties that absorb into the skin quickly for immediate relief from dry, irritated or broken skin.

5. Macadamia Nut Oil

Macadamia nut oil is high in oleic acid that works wonders for aging skin. Don’t let ‘acid’ fool you — oleic acid is exceptionally hydrating. It penetrates deep into the skin to replenish lost moisture that naturally occurs with age. Macadamia oil is also high in anti-inflammatory properties, making it ideal for soothing acne-prone skin.

Green Garden Gold’s Shipping and Return Policy

Any order in the US over $100 is eligible for free shipping, and all international orders are shipped at a flat rate of $12. There are several shipping options available for those who need their products quickly or who don’t qualify for the free shipping.

If a customer is dissatisfied with their product and has not opened it, they can receive a free shipping slip from Green Garden Gold after contacting them. If products have been opened, return shipping will come at the cost of the customer, and full refunds will be issued after the products are approved by employees.

Final Verdict: The Ingredients Are Great For Skincare, But It’s Expensive

While the other ingredients look great, we’re most interested in hemp quality and the company’s reputation as experts in the industry. We don’t mind paying premium prices as long as the company can back its high standards for quality. GGG misses the mark here.

Our stipulations include the steep price tag, the incomplete third-party lab results, and its claim to leverage the entourage effect with a CBD isolate. For these reasons, we can’t recommend GGG’s skincare serums.
