Best CBD Company Reviews: Top CBD Oil Brands & Manufacturers [2022]

Green Garden Gold Good Day CBD Salve

This salve is made from certified organic hemp, but its potency is far too low for its advertised use. The salve may provide some moisturization to the skin, but you won’t get the effects of the CBD in this formula. We recommend going with something stronger if you’re looking for a topical CBD product to relieve localized soreness and pain.

Price/Value 1/5

This product doesn’t do what it’s promised to — relieve pain and muscle soreness. At $34.99, this is just an overpriced moisturizing salve.

CBD Potency 1/5

With about 1.25 mg of CBD per g of salve, the potency of this product is extremely low. We recommend looking for a product with at least 8 mg of CBD per g of cream, salve, or gel to treat pain.

Hemp Source 3/5

Green Garden Gold uses Colorado-farmed USDA organic hemp. However, the Certificate of Analysis for this product is outdated and incomplete. Regular testing is important for ensuring the quality of every batch. For this reason, we’ve docked a couple of points in this category. Transparency is highly valued in our system.

Purpose/Uses 1/5

There is a specific purpose for the Good Day Salve, but no recommended application amount in the product description. Because the CBD potency of this product is so low — especially for a topical CBD product — its efficacy is questionable.

Product Variations 3/5

There’s only one size and potency available for the Good Day Salve. However, GGG does carry other topical formulas in different potencies and consistencies (creams, gels, patch).

Formula/Ingredients 2/5

While the CoA does show the hemp extract to be full-spectrum with 10 cannabinoids present, this is basically an over-priced skin balm. The potency is too low to provide any pain relief, and it’s a fact we can’t overlook when it comes to topical formulas.

Green Garden Gold Good Day Salve Review

Whether it’s joint pain or a spot of irritating eczema, CBD salves are an effective way to target areas in need of symptom relief.

Green Garden Gold carries a variety of CBD topical products, but its Good Day Salve is advertised to target sore muscles and skin irritation.

Is the Good Day Salve effective? Green Garden Gold does not have a reputation for transparent practices…

Green Garden Gold has come into trouble with the FDA for not following regulations with the use of language for health claims in 2016.

The company has since cleaned up its product promises but while everything on the surface looks trustworthy, a little digging reveals some serious red flags.

A lack of dosing information, incomplete lab results, and ineffective potency leaves us disappointed with GGG as a company.

Product Overview: Good Day Salve

The Good Day Salve contains 75 mg of organic CBD extract in a coconut oil and beeswax formula that promises to provide joint and muscle pain relief.

We don’t recommend this product.

Containing only 1.25 mg of CBD per gram, there is hardly enough CBD to make the product effective — We consider an effective potency at least 8 mg/g for topical formulas. The other ingredients do not have pain-relieving properties that could increase this product’s efficacy.

Pros & Cons

Pros Cons
  • Moisturizing ingredients
  • Cannabinoid diversity
  • Ineffective potency
  • Overpriced
  • Incomplete and outdated third-party lab tests

Key Features & Benefits

1. Skin-Loving Ingredients

This salve is made with coconut oil, beeswax, and vanilla — all ingredients common in skincare to nourish and protect the skin. There are no nasty ingredients such as artificial fragrance, dyes, or preservatives.

2. Full-Spectrum Extract

The Certificate of Analysis shows this extract to contain 10 cannabinoids. CBD isn’t the only cannabinoid shown to produce therapeutic benefits. A range of cannabinoids such as this can produce more benefits than a CBD isolate can do on its own thanks to a phenomenon called the entourage effect.

About the Company: Green Garden Gold

Green Garden Gold (GGG) has a controversial past from infringing on FDA policies.

In 2016, GGG was making lavish claims about its products, saying its CBD could cure and treat diseases. For the record, CBD cannot cure or treat diseases — steer clear of brands that make these claims.

A letter from the FDA outlined the misleading information GGG had on its website in the form of product descriptions, blog posts, and fake testimonials.

GGG has since cleaned up its website, but it still has a lot to work on to restore its reputation by our standards. This includes making formulas with strong enough CBD potencies to perform what its intended to do, timely customer service communication, and complete and up-to-date third-party lab tests.

Who is the Good Day Salve Made For?

Topical CBD may not be the most efficient use of CBD, but it does allow for localized treatment. By applying CBD to one area of the body, you can ensure the product will be concentrated on the area.

CBD is used topically to relieve the following conditions:

  • Joint pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema
  • Acne

Green Garden Gold designed the Good Day Salve for the relief of deep pain symptoms. However, just by looking at the additional ingredients in the Good Day Salve one can see its effects — much like the company claims — are only skin deep.

Price/Value

The average price of a 100 mg bottle of CBD oil costs about $25 or $0.25 per mg of CBD. This isn’t an exact comparison but gives an idea of how much this product should cost.

Cost Breakdown of Green Garden Gold’s Good Day Salve:

Product Name Total Price Total CBD Content Cost per mg CBD
Good Day Salve — 56 g (2 oz) $34.99 75 mg $0.47

Topical CBD products can be more expensive than just CBD oil on its own, mostly because of the additional ingredients in the formula. However, in this case, the CBD extract and the additional ingredients are great for skin but do not contribute to the efficacy of the product’s purpose, which is pain relief.

CBD Potency

The Good Day Salve’s potency is laughably low. Applying CBD topically is a great way to target and relieve pain in muscles and joints — but it does take quite a bit of CBD in order to receive its benefits topically.

Effective topical products contain 300-600 mg of CBD per 30 g (1 oz.). In comparison, GGG’s 75 mg in a 56 g (2 oz.) container is laughable.

Some brands will also include other beneficial ingredients in order to make its products more effective, but the Good Day Salve’s ingredients are more effective as a moisturizer than a pain reliever.

Hemp Source

If GGG does get one aspect right in its products, its the hemp sourcing. Green Garden Gold sources its hemp from Colorado. It’s USDA certified organic and processed using supercritical CO2 extraction for solvent-free CBD extracts.

Because the hemp is certified organic, the chances that it has come into contact with harmful pesticides is greatly diminished.

However, there is still the chance of contamination, which is why checking lab results is a very important step in determining the integrity of a brand and its products.

Green Garden Gold has disappointing lab results.

We consider the lab results provided for the Good Day Salve on Green Garden Gold’s website incomplete and outdated. The last lab test posted on its product description page is from 2016!

What we look for in thorough test results is the clearance of dangerous materials such as:

  • Pesticides
  • Heavy metals
  • Microbial growth
  • Solvents

Including the cannabinoid and terpene profile are also important in determining whether a product is exactly what is promised.

Purpose/Uses

Salves are intended to provide localized pain relief to sore muscles, joints, and minor skin irritations. With a poor formulation, you won’t get much out of CBD’s benefits in this product, but you may benefit from the skin-nourishing ingredients to protect and moisturize the skin.

Product Variations

The Good Day Salve is only available in the one size, scent, and potency. However, GGG has a range of other topical formulas in creams, gels, and a transdermal patch — but none of them are very promising either.

Formulation/Ingredients

The Additional Beneficial Ingredients In the Good Day Salve:

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is commonly incorporated with CBD in capsules, tinctures, and topicals.

Coconut oil contains monolaurin and vitamin E which have emulsifying and moisturizing properties well suited for topical application.

Beeswax

This ingredient is crucial for giving the salve its structure. Beeswax provides a barrier for the skin from potential irritants while still allowing the skin to breathe.

Vanilla

Vanilla can be just as good for skin as it is in desserts! Vanilla is known to have anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial properties. Considering the small amounts of vanilla in this formula, you won’t be receiving its full benefits. It’s simply used to add fragrance to the salve.

All of the above ingredients are well suited as a moisturizer…

The Good Day Salve is meant to relieve aches and pains. Ideally, GGG would have included ingredients that support muscle soreness, stiffness, and pain.

Green Garden Gold’s Shipping and Return Policy

Orders over $100 are eligible for free shipping in the US, and all international orders are shipped at a flat shipping rate of $12.

If you’re dissatisfied with your order, you can receive a full refund and a free shipping slip from GGG if the product is unopened.

If you’ve opened the product, you’ll need to contact customer service who will determine on a case-by-case basis if its eligible for a refund or exchange, and the shipping cost will be at your expense.

Final Verdict: The Good Day Salve Is An Ineffective Product

The Good Day Salve’s CBD content is completely ineffective for its purpose to relieve aches and pains.

The ingredients are beneficial for the skin but have no benefits that could penetrate deep enough to help alleviate pain.

At $0.47 per mg of CBD, the Good Day Salve is overpriced. There are many other CBD topicals on the market that have a more potent product for a reasonable price.

Try Fab CBD’s Topical Cream. Fab CBD also uses an organic Colorado hemp source, but uses 600 mg of CBD in each 56 g (2 oz) jar of cream! It also uses ingredients with pain-relieving properties that are complementary to the product’s intended purpose.
